[top]Tips & Strategies

Boost-

This is the best tip I can give you. The online community for this game is slim, if it exists at all. You will need some friends with this game, and some time on your hands. Without boosting, this game's platinum is hell on earth.

Never Fly Alone-

If you can find someone to team-up with during the campaign, do it. Having two or more flyers is far easier than just one plane.

[top]Roadmap

1- Play the story mode. This will help you gain bearings for the overall feel of the game, and it will get you a lot of experience, (Remember, XP is saved even if you get shot down) The game has a funky control set, so the learning curve is steep. Attempt to get as many of the offline only trophies as you can.

2- Get online. Try and get up to Level 50, and get all of the online specific trophies. It takes time, but it's in the plan. Hopefully you are good at the game by now.

3- Go in for the kill. At this point, there won't be many trophies left. Master any remaining planes, get any more XP you need, and at the end of this you should have Top Gun.

Top Gun
Earned all the trophies in the game.

Simple to get this trophy just unlock all other trophies (excluding DLC).

[top]
Crash Test
Complete the first story mission on any difficulty.

This is story-related and cannot be missed, provided you complete the campaign. It will unlock after the mission, 'Contact' is complete. I have a complete guide below.

Eye in the Sky
Complete "The Prisoner" on any difficulty.

This trophy is story related and is hard to miss. All you have to do is complete the campaign. The trophy should unlock after you complete the third mission "The Prisoner". I have a complete guide below-

Ground Support
Complete "The Rescue" on any difficulty.

This trophy is story related and is hard to miss. All you have to do is complete the campaign. The trophy should unlock after you complete the fifth mission "The Rescue". Another epic guide is below-

Nightvision
Complete "Thieves in the Night" on any difficulty.

This trophy is story related and is hard to miss. All you have to do is complete the campaign. The trophy should unlock after you complete the seventh mission "Thieves in the Night". Full guide is, as always, below in the spoiler.

Red is not Dead
Complete "Stand-Off" on expert difficulty.

This can easily be achieved with other players, just make sure you have 3-4 players, then all you have to do is complete this mission, that simple.
This is the nineteenth mission in the game. In order to unlock this trophy though, you need to complete the mission on Expert difficulty. The trophy is also story related so the only way to miss it is to not play on Expert. You can replay the level though after you complete the game on Recruit by simply using the Mission Replay option. Full guide below-

Till the End
Complete all story missions on any difficulty.

Simply complete all 20 missions in the game's story,It's that simple. For an easy way to get this trophy, just complete the campaign mode in Recruit.

[top]
Team Play
Complete any story mission in coop.

The hardest part about this is finding a co-op partner. Once you clear this hurdle, just finish a mission. If you can't manage this, you have no business even attempting this game's platinum.

[top]
No Restrictions
In story mode, fly for 60 minutes in Assistance OFF.

To turn Assistance off, just double tap . Then, I recommend playing the second story mission. There is no combat at the beginning of the mission, so just fly from one end of the map to the other, and keep going until you get the trophy.

NOTE: Apparently these trophies can't be earned in Mission Select. So if you finish the campaign before earning this trophy, follow these steps-
  1. Copy your original profile to a USB
  2. Delete it from the PS3
  3. Make a new profile on the PS3
  4. Earn this trophy
  5. Delete the new profile
  6. Copy the old profile to the PS3

[top]
Peripheral Vision
Fly faster than mach 2 for 60 minutes in story mode.

Mach 2 is 2472 kilometers per hour. The interesting thing about this is that in Imperial measurement, Mach 2 is 1522.4141 mph. The in game speedometer can't reach 1522 MPH. So, you must do this in Metric Measurement. A good place to do this is, once again, Chapter 2. Just ignore instructions (Captains? Fuck em. You need trophies.)

  1. Copy your original profile to a USB
  2. Delete it from the PS3
  3. Make a new profile on the PS3
  4. Earn this trophy
  5. Delete the new profile
  6. Copy the old profile to the PS3

[top]
Confident
Perform a carrier landing without using the Assisted Approach.

Personally, I don't think that assisted approach gives you a huge advantage anyway. You will eventually attempt this, I believe you do this first in Mission 6.

Press to begin the landing, and make sure you have a good amount of space between you and the run way. Just stay on course, and slow down until you can drop the landing gear. You don't even have to slow down after you land. A cut scene begins once you land. Pretty easy, no?

[top]
Going Tough
Inflict 4000 damage on enemy players in a single Team Battle game.

This is hell if you do this without boosting. Here's a little math- (1 plane has 100HP. So 4000 divided by 100 is 40 planes.)

Set up a game that has every other plane against you. Long time limit, realistic damage. Now, make sure all other planes have weak armor, and low speed. Most planes designed for Air-To-Ground support are perfect. (For example, the A-10 Warthog or the Eurofighter Typhoon) You yourself will need a fast plane with a huge payload. (For example, the F-16 Falcon or the F-22 Raptor ) Hit them HARD with heat-seeking missiles.

Also, this is a good opportunity to boost other trophies.

[top]
Spoils of War
Win a Team Battle game.

While going for the platinum, this is inevitable. You have to win at least once!

[top]
Can I Keep It?
Fully master a plane.

Each plane has a specific amount of XP required to master it. To track this, find "Pilot Records" in the Main Menu then select "Plane Mastery". The required XP to master a plane is between 3000-6000 XP. There are many places to do this but not all missions can be played in custom setting. To unlock customs, finish the game.

During Chapter 19, there is a segment in which you are tasked with destroying bridges. Now, once you get to this point, tanks will spawn continuously. This is the fun part. Tanks can't usually take you down, but you're their worst nightmare. Hit them until you are totally out of ammo. (These tanks usually grant 25XP a piece, and the flak gives 10XP, but cluster them with the AGM missiles/Rocket Pods.) Then crash, and re-do that portion. Your XP is saved.

Hard Work Pays Off
Fully master 15 planes.

Now, you just have to do this with 15 planes. Same basic idea as Can I Keep It?, just more time consuming.

[top]
The Way I Like It
Create a custom weapon pack.

From the menu, select "Pilot Records" then "Plane Mastery" - here you can keep check of which planes are mastered, and the XP you have gained with each plane. Find a plane in which you have unlocked "Custom Weapon Packs". Then select what weapons you want. PING! Trophy.

[top]
Swiss Cheese
Shoot down a player while using a plane equipped with 4 gun pods.

Once you have unlocked a Custom Weapon Pack, create a Weapon Pack with 4 gun pods. Then go into a multiplayer match and select the plane with the custom pack. The difficult part here is that you can't use missiles, only the gun pods. But hell, you have 4 of them

Once you shoot them down, the trophy should unlock.

Note: Not all planes have a high enough payload for 4 pods.

[top]
Rushed
Score 3 kills in 15 seconds in Survival mode.

Select Survival mode from the "Missions" menu, and begin a survival map on your favorite map. In the first round, even, there are usually a fleet of planes headed directly at you. Hit them all in a row with guided missiles, and then finish the last ones off with the Cannon. If done correctly, you should get the trophy.

[top]
Still Alive
Complete any of the Survival mode maps.

Team Play is essential here. While you could, in theory, finish this as a lone wolf, I don't recommend it. Rather, you should do this with friends. Make sure some of your team have repair drones, as it makes this much easier. Everyone has a limited number of respawns, so do your best to dodge rockets.

All waves are timed. The initial waves are timed at about 3:00, later on they get harder, and the time limit changes.

[top]
Resilient
Complete 5 waves in Survival mode without being shot down.

If you are going to get Still Alive, then this may come naturally. If not, then begin a match with some friends and do your best to survive. I think that if one plane is shot down, you're screwed. Maybe not, but that's my guess.

[top]
I, Support
Use 3 different team support abilities.

When you are online, you have the option of editing the loadout of your plane. Now, you can unlock Team Support Options using XP earned. You will need 3 different ones, but you may only equip 2. They are used with the D-Pad, and give a positive boost to the team. So equip 2 of them in a match, and use them both. When that match ends, equip new ones. Then use a third option in the new match, and the trophy should unlock.

[top]
Engineer
Repair 90 hp by using repair drones

Repair Drones can be called in as a Support Ability. They repair the entire team, so you don't have to take all of the damage alone. Keep track of your team's collective damage. Using my awesome math skills , I calculate that if each of the 4 players on your team take 23 points of damage, than that is enough for this trophy,

If you have a lot of players, then this trophy gets easier. Much easier. Boosting is another option as well.

[top]
Copycat
Kill 100 opponents that use the same plane as you in Team Battle games.

It helps to have a popular plane for this one. You only start with two of them, (The MIG 23 and the Foxbat) and I see the MIG 23 often. If you use the unlock tree, then you can use the F 22 as it appears quite often as well. Either way, with the rather small selection of Aircraft, you are destined to get this at some point.

But if you don't want to wait, then create a boosting match. Just have everyone use the same plane, and play a normal damage 15:00 match.

[top]
Veteran
Participate in 100 Team Battle games.

This will happen, just don't think about it. If you aim at the other trophies, then this will be unlocked eventually. The match MUST be team battle, but map is entirely up to you. This is definitely a time consuming trophy. At it's quickest, playing 5:00 matches, then this trophy takes 8 hours 20 minutes. You can't just quit in the middle of the match.

[top]
Nimble
Dodge a total of 100 missiles without using flares in Team Battle games.

This should be a skill you've acquired by now. You start with a very finite number of flares, so get used to dodging these on your own. An alert will flash across your screen when a missile is incoming, once you see it, change direction. You will also get a rear-view camera showing the missile incoming. Now, once it gets in close, dive out of the way and quickly move right or left. This tends to get rid of the missiles.

Also, don't worry about if it takes time or not- It doesn't. HIM missiles are my personal favorites, and moving in a straight line for a period of time will ensure you get targeted.

[top]
Nice Skill, Captain!
Using a Mig-23, shoot down a player flying an F-22.

This is the definition of underdog fight. The Mig-23 is the original plane in the game, and the F-22 is unlocked at the final rank of the "Evasion" Unlock Tree. But, most of the people still playing H.A.W.X. 2 are hardcore players, and have thus unlocked the F-22.

Also, if you have a hardcore friend, then you can boost with them.

[top]
Overpowered
Score 5 player kills in a Team Battle game without being shot down.

This is a fancy way of saying "Five Kill Streak". This should come naturally if you are good at this game. This will come as you boost Going Tough.

[top]
Coup de Grace
Using only the gun, bring down 10 players that have been damaged by your team members.

Before you attempt this, equip a weapon pack with 4 Gun Pods. This will maximize firepower. Prowl around and try to find enemies that are already weakened. Big team games should help you out. Don't even attempt to use HIM missiles, stick with the Cannon. Most times, a single missile won't kill, so it's not hard to find a hurt enemy. Finishing them is the hard part.

You must be quite close for the Cannon to be effective. So try and use a quick plane and hit a high speed. Pull up close, and shoot them out of the sky.

This is another of the harder trophies, but it once again is easily boosted.

[top]
Bad Luck
Reach level 13.

There are 3 major ways of gaining XP in this game. Kills, Objectives, and Challenges. To view challenges, find them under "Pilot Records". Anyway, XP from single player and multiplayer are cumulative. This gives you an advantage. So no matter what mode you do it in, you get XP for it.

Follow the XP farming tricks stated in Hard Work Pays Off and a lot of boosting in multiplayer, and you can get this fairly quick.

Maxed
Reach level 50.

Follow the XP farming tricks stated in Hard Work Pays Off and a lot of boosting in multiplayer, and you can get this with a lot of hard work and determination.

NOTE: It takes approximately 173,000 XP to Max out. Good luck.

[top]
Getting There
Purchase 5 different upgrades for all your planes.

To purchase upgrades for your planes, go to "Pilot Records" and then "PEC Records". Based on the XP you have, you unlock credits for buying upgrades. These upgrades, for this trophy, are called "Passive Abilities".

For each level you can, up to level 30, you gain 1 Credit. After level 30, you can 2 Credits per level. So that's 70 credits, for 70 unlocks. Therefore, you only need to be level 5 for this trophy.

NOTE: If you don't want to waste the credits, then just purchase the upgrades and wait for the trophy to pop, then turn off the PS3. The game won't save unless you exit that menu.

[top]
Still Counting
Purchase 5 different team support elements for your planes.

To purchase upgrades for your planes, go to "Pilot Records" and then "PEC Records". Based on the XP you have, you unlock credits for buying upgrades. These upgrades, for this trophy, are called "Support Abilities" and are marked in red.

For each level you can, up to level 30, you gain 1 Credit. After level 30, you can 2 Credits per level. So that's 70 credits, for 70 unlocks. Now, since "Support" actions tend to unlock later than others, I believe that you will have to be level 25+ to obtain this.

NOTE: If you don't want to waste the credits, then just purchase the upgrades and wait for the trophy to pop, then turn off the PS3. The game won't save unless you exit that menu.

[top]
Who Needs Them?
Win 10 Team Battle matches while your team is outnumbered.

You can occasionally end up on an outnumbered team by luck, but boosting is by far easier. Just set it up in a 1 vs. 2 match and play it out. Not hard at all via boosting. Persistence wins out here.
