[top]Tips & Strategies

Crystals

There are five types of Crystals in the game that can be broken for some kind of bonus.
  1. Red Crystals will refill your rage meter
  2. Green Crystals will refill your health
  3. Yellow Crystals give you souls, which are the currency of the game.
  4. Orange Crystals set your blades on fire and will allow you to deal fire damage
  5. Blue Crystals will freeze all nearby enemies.
Crystals reappear over time, so make a note of where they are and check back every so often to get their bonuses again.


Artifacts

X-Blades doesn't use a standard level up system for improving Ayumi's abilities. Instead, you must find pieces of three types of artifacts to upgrade three aspects of your skills.
  • Gold artifacts will improve Ayumi's sword skills
  • Ruby artifacts improve Ayumi's aerial attacks
  • Silver artifacts will improve Ayumi's gun skills.
Some tips on some frustrating levels.

The Stone Alley (Evening)
In this level you will run into some spiders, but don't try to attack them as the keep teleporting away. Go and buy if you haven't already the Lightning Range. This powerful spell is fast and powerful enough to catch the spiders offguard and kill them.


The Seashell (Evening)
This one can be a bit annoying. There are several Monster Generators you must destroy all over the level. Plus, there are some monster that shoot fire at you. Don't try to attack with your blades as they teleport to a different spot. A good spell to use on them is Ice arrow followed by Earthquake.



The Hall of Columns
This level as well contains monsters that teleport when you get to close. You need to use the Ray of light spell to destroy them. There are several of them that will keep spawning, so just keep your main focus on them, and use the other monsters to get your rage back up.


[top]Roadmap

Step 1 - Play the first playthrough on easy to get the majority of the trophies. Here you will want to work on the artifacts and story related trophies that are not difficulty based. *NOTE* You MUST buy the dark magic BEFORE fighting The Dark at the Temple.
Recommended! - Don't buy the light spells and buy the dark spells. This way you can work on the light spells in the next playthrough for your "good" endings. If you happen to accidentally buy a light spell, you will need to do a half playthrough so get the dark spells again.

Step 2 - Play on Pro now and use the Armor Costume. The trophies stack so you will get all the difficulty trophies at the end of this run. Don't buy any dark spells this time so that you can earn the trophies for the "good" endings.

Step 3 - A bit of clean up may be needed if you don't have the 10,000 kills yet.

Pro difficulty is the toughest of them all. The monsters are a bit tougher than before. You need to simply get through all the levels within the game and beat it to receive this trophy.

Oops, are you OK?
Kill your first monster

This will come naturally during the first level. There are plenty of monsters around the area. Kill one of them. Certain monster require several hits, but in the beginning they are quite simple.

Annoying fly
Kill a monster in the air using blades

Around the third level or so you will be introduced to the monster that looks like a phantom. They never land so this is a perfect opportunity to get this trophy. Just jump in the air and swing your blades at these phantoms.

Take that!
Execute your first combo

After you have collected 3 gold artifact pieces, you will get the first Melee upgrade. Once you have this upgrade, go to an enemy and time it right. Then press the left analog stick in any direction while pressing to execute a combo.

Can't touch me
Complete level without losing your health

The easiest one to get this will be The Deadly Passage. There are no enemies to fight. You need to simply roll under the blades and not let them hit you in the slightest. To roll, hit up with the left analog stick and press . Do this a few times before the blade to kind of get the feeling down for it so that you don't mess up and get hit. Right after you roll under the last blade this trophy will pop.

Can you EVER touch me?
Complete 6 levels without losing your health

There are 4 levels with only traps in them. If you happen to get hit with the trap/blade, then just die and try again. The Fork in the Road is quite an easy place to not get to as long as you watch your swings and use Earthquake or Ice Flower when you think you are going to be hit. The 6th should be where you don't lose health on a boss, whichever one it is you do that on. If you do happen to get hit in any of these levels, just simply did and try again. It's not to hard to do this.

NOTE - The levels carry over. So if you complete 3 on your first run and not lose health, and 3 on your second run, you will still get this trophy.

Flawless victory
Win a boss fight without losing your health

There are a few boss battles throughout the game. The best place for this one is in the Underground hall. Don't exit out of the tunnel when you get to the end. The Boss is a giant Paugo and he can not get into the tunnel due to his size. Stand a bit back and do the Shooting Upgrade Level 3 combo. Press twice and hit to shoot. Your timing is very important and this could take a bit to get used to. Just keep doing it and within 4-5 hits you will have defeated the boss without any damage.

Complete level using only magic

One of the easiest levels to get this would be The Fork In the Road. Just keep using Earthquake on the monsters and when your rage is low, just hit to fill it back up. Keep doing this until all the monsters are defeated here.

The "good" ending requires you to NOT buy any Dark Spells. ( List of spells found in Servant of the Dark below). You need to buy only the light spells (List found in Light Adept below). Be sure to conserve souls and only buy what you need.

Servant of the Dark
Learn all Dark spells

These must be bought BEFORE you fight The Boss in the Temple!!!. Save enough souls to buy
  • Darkball
  • Dark Rage
  • Darkform
But remember, when you buy these you will NOT get a good ending. To be sure you are working towards the bad ending, or you have all the good ending trophies completed.

Light adept
Learn all Light spells

These spells can be bought AFTER you defeat The Boss (The Dark) in the Temple.
  • Lightform
  • Light Blades
  • Ray of Light
  • Flash of Light
If you buy these and NONE of the Dark Spells, you will receive the good endings.

Finish him
Defeat The Dark One at The Dark Temple

The Dark One is found in the level The Dark Temple.



He is surrounded by his little minions inside the temple. This fight is not overly hard. Earth quake or Ice flower are good moves to use as it deals some damage to him and the minions. Then slash a bit at the minions to fill your rage meter up.

Counter impossible
Get IMPOSSIBLE hit counter

This can be a bit tricky. An impossible hit counter is a hit counter of 150 without being hit yourself. The abandoned coast was a good place. There are several waves of crabs and foot soldiers here. Keep swinging and then use Earthquake to make sure the enemies don't get to close. Then swing some more to build rage and use Earthquake again. Keep doing this until the counter reaches 150.

Dark side
Execute Dark form for the first time

Buy all the dark spells and then dark form. Use dark form for the first time to get this trophy. You CAN NOT buy nor use dark spells after you fight The Dark in the Temple, so make sure you do this before then.

Light side
Execute Light form for the first time

After you beat The Dark (the boss in Temple) the Light Form becomes available to purchase and use. Simply purchase the Light Form and use it. This will be counted towards your good ending.

Learn all shooting improvements

Press to access the items menu. Go over to Bullets using . Buy all the upgrades and bullets within this section AFTER you have gotten The best soul collector .

Use every item at least once

Press to access the items menu. Go over to items using . Use these items: Heal, Rage, Max Heal, and Max Rage each once .

Nice silver thingie
Collect 3 silver artifact parts

This should come naturally if you are collecting the artifacts in each level. The first three silver are found here:

The Ruins 1
Silver- After you defeat the Ice Elemental, continue forward till you drop down a hole. Inside the hole, destroy the 4 tombs until you find the artifact.

The Stone Circle
Silver - If looking at the sun, go in a bit then to the right. Go all the way back to find the artifact.

The Fork in the Road
Silver - This is on a small ledge in the small area.

Once you have all three pieces of the artifact, you will be award the Shooting Upgrade Level 1.

Collect 3 gold artifact parts

This should come naturally if you are collecting the artifacts in each level. The first three gold are found here:

Abandoned Coast
Gold - To the right as you enter the level, jump on the ledge and go to the right up the stairs.

Stairway to Heaven
Gold - Go up the stairs a bit and to your left will be a small ledge with the artifact on it.

Observation Site
Ruby - Go to the right side of the level into the small walkway.

Once you have all three pieces of the artifact, you will be award the Melee Upgrade Level 1.

Abandoned Coast
Ruby - To the left side as you enter the level, jump on the ledge and go to the left up the stairs.

The Ruins above the Sea
Ruby - Run around the right side of the area on the bottom level. You will find the artifact near some breakable vases.

Observation Site
Ruby - Go to the right side of the level into the small walkway.

Once you have all three pieces of the artifact, you will be award the Airstrike Upgrade Level 1.

Get maximum Shooting upgrade level

Through out the levels there is anywhere between 0-2 artifacts. Collect all 9 artifacts to master the Melee skill.

Get maximum Melee upgrade level

Through out the levels there is anywhere between 0-2 artifacts. Collect 9 GOLD artifacts to master the Melee skill.

Through out the levels there is anywhere between 0-2 artifacts. Collect 9 RUBY artifacts to master the Melee skill.

You will get this trophy once you have collected 9 Ruby, Silver and Gold artifact pieces to get to Upgrade 3 on all of them. This trophy will follow after Airstrike master , Melee master and Shooting master

Upgrade health regeneration level to maximum

Hit and go over to items with . Buy the Health Regeneration Upgrade 1, 2, and 3 and the Rage Regeneration Upgrade 1, 2, and 3.

Famous monster eliminator
Kill 10 000 monsters

There are different monesters throughout each level. They vary in size, shape and creature. For most levels, you need to kill all monsters before the door way opens up. Depending on how many times you enter and leave and re-enter a level, this may take two playthroughs. When you exit a level and re-enter, all the monster reappear so you can kill them all over again for the kills and the souls.

You can find souls by defeating enemies, breaking objects and the Yellow crystals. To obtain 5,000 - 50,000 - 5,000,000 and 50,000,000 you need to have them all at once. Don't spend them on things unless you need too. It's not how many you have collected all together, it's how many you have right at that time.

Bosses

The Light
Found in The Sun Temple
  • Build up your rage by hitting the paugos running after you.
  • Use Fireball at the Giant Galapagos, this is the only way to injure him.
  • Keep building rage and shooting fireballs at him.
  • Watch for his attack, he too, shoots light attacks at you out at you.
Giant Galapagos
Found in The Stone Circle
  • Build up your rage by hitting the Foot soldiers running after you.
  • Use Fireball at the Giant Galapagos, this is the only way to injure him.
  • Keep building rage and shooting fireballs at him.
  • Watch for his attack, he too, shoots fireballs out at you.
The Dark
Found in The Dark Temple
Pretty simple fight and some tips:
  1. He can be hit with blades with no problem. So head over to him and starting hitting.
  2. Soon, he will send out some minions like foot soldiers and such. Use Earthquake or Ice flower to rid them fast and swing at them to get some rage back.
  3. When the minions have been defeated focus back on The Dark and continue to hit him.
Spider Queen
Found in the Stair way to Heaven.
Some tips in defeating te Spider Queen
  1. Watch for the mini spiders. Try to kill them to get them out of the way and build your rage up.
  2. There are small white objects floating above the Queen. Throw some magic at them to destroy them.
  3. When there are no more white objects above the Queen, start throwing some magic at her.
  4. The white objects will appear again as well as the mini spiders.
  5. Don't get to close to the Queen as she shoots out some sort of black acid that takes your health away.

Ancient Six-Winged
Found in The Stone Circle Evening
This can take a bit of time. Here are some tips.
  1. Keep locked onto the Ancient Six-Winged. Though this messes with the camera view, it makes it easier to avoid the lasers it shoots.
  2. Run back and forth, side to side to avoid lasers and to gather the pangos all together.
  3. Use Earthquake or Ice flower on the pangos to defeat them, this is the only way you can harm Ancient Six-winged.
  4. Once all the pangos are killed, start shooting fireballs at Ancient Six-winged until it sends out more pangos.
  5. Repeat 1-4
    Tip: To the far left is a blue crystal. If you lure the Pangos over to the crystal and break it, it will freeze them. Once you do this you will have time to attack the Ancient Six-Winged. (Tip by DaveyHasselhoff)
The Dark at the Gates
Found in The Great Gates Evening
This is a bit tricky and can take some time. Here are some tips.
  1. At first The Dark will run around shooting energy balls at you. Avoid them and throw some light magic at him.
  2. He will then go invisible and the tourches will light different elemental colors. Use fire on the blue tourches, ice on the red and light on the red.
  3. When all tourches are out, he will become visible again allowing you to be able to shoot more light spells at him.
  4. He will then send out many Pangolins. An easy way to get these guys is to use Ice Flower to freeze them in groups.
  5. When the Pangolins are all gone, you will be able to hit him again with light magic.
  6. He will use "Wind" to try to blow you away. Then repeat the process.
Obsessed Jay
Found in The Great Gates Evening AFTER The Dark fight
Here are some tips:
  1. You can not hit him right away. There are several phantoms flying around that you need to kill first.
  2. The Obsessed Jay will continueously turn you into ice so watch out.
  3. When all phantoms are gone you can then hit Jay with some Light spells.
  4. More phantoms will soon come, so just repeat the process.
Obsessed Jay
Found in The Finale
  • You will need to use light attacks on him.
  • Keep your distance from him as he has several attacks. Turning you to ice, spikes from the floor, red orb and just swinging.
  • Run and hit the red crystals around to build rage or hit to fill your rage up. The turn and through some light spells at him.
  • Keep doing this over and over.

The Seashell
  • Gold - Go to the small dark room on the first floor.

  • Ruby - Go under the arch to the right and the piece is under the stairs.
  • Silver - At the top of the stairs, look to the right and double jump across the gap.
