Is this a Game for you?
Do NOT get this game or try to this if:
  • You hate Japan/the Japanese/Japanese things
  • Your looking for a quick
  • See Ultimate Challenger and Minigame Master, ignore this game if you think those are too hard, annoying, or tedious
  • Hate Brawlers

[top]Tips & Strategies

  • Play the first playthrough normally, there is no real reason you have to rush any of the trophies during this playthrough, most of the trophies are obtained easier during the Post Game (in Premium Adventure Mode)
  • It's a good idea to keep a couple healing/HEAT items with you at all times, some of the random encounters can actually be a little tough at times
  • When Going for Master Environmentalist and/or the Fishing part of Minigame Master, it is good idea to alternate between fishing and collecting garbage/stuff in boxes.
  • Some of the trophies can be tracked by looking at your statistics in the Hideout.
  • It is a good idea to get Walking Bank, before getting Tag Hoarder, Chip Hoarder, or certain games for Minigame Master
  • The Hardest and most annoying trophies in this game are Ultimate Challenger and Minigame Master.
  • Pretty much everything transfers between playthroughs so there is no fear in losing anything
  • There are trophies for MOST chapters, there is no trophy for chapter 9 or 11.
  • For Substory Completionist, having substories completed or finished still count towards Substory Completionist. When a substory is "finished" that means you did not get the "good" completion of that substory, but it will still count as completed. There are 2 differences between completed and finished. Complete counts towards the overall game completion (if you aim for 100% game completion in the Hideout) and the rewards you get from substories
  • For ALL gambling games (whether in the Gambling Hall or Casino), there is a such thing as being at a "good" or "bad" game. I would play about 5 rounds to see how my luck is doing, if I am really losing it, then I would leave the table and come back (your luck is different every time you join a game). If I am doing good I will stay and play it out.
  • Do not be afraid to use the items that help you with gambling, I suggest you use them only if you find a good table, to make your luck even better

Substory Completionist
Complete all substories.

Difficult if you do not have a guide (as in finding the substories). This trophy is one of the time consuming trophies of the game. There are a total of 101 substories in the North American version and 123 in the Japanese Version. For a list of all the North American substories, look under the Substories List spoiler which is in my second post. I highly recommend you wait to do this trophy in Premium Adventure Mode.

Here is a list of "missable" substories:
  • Love Letter In A Bottle (Chapter 4) (Also Available again during Chapter 10)
  • Dotting the Eye (Chapter 6)
  • Girl From Back Home (Chapter 6)
  • 2 Fathers (Chapter 10)

These are considered "missable" because you lose access to them during the main game after certain points of time, HOWEVER they become available again during Premium Adventure. So if you miss any of these substories, or do not feel like doing them when they first show up, there is no rush.

The Final Substory called Amon is only available when:
  • All the other 100 substories are complete (or finished)
  • All Hitmen Missions are complete
  • All IF7 fights completed
  • All Coliseum matches fought (you don't have to fight all the people in it)

Notes about Amon:
  • Amon has been the final side boss of all the Yakuza games to date, so basically you could say he is the Yakuza version of Ultima Weapon
  • When fighting Amon, I highly recommend you load up on healing items
  • He has about 6 life bars, and they do not deplete fast at all (especially on hard), so expect a long fight

Fighting Amon:
  • There are 3 "stages" to fighting Amon:
    • Dual Light Sabers (I believe two Photon Blade RB's)
    • Dual Pistols
    • Dual Pistols II (He adds physical attacks to his gun attacks)

  • During the fight when he has Dual Light Sabers, when it looks like hes "raving," you CANNOT hurt him while he's doing that. Even after he stops his "rave" he will still be invulnerable for about 2 seconds, DO NOT attempt to attack him, because he might just start "raving" again.
  • The safest way of fighting Amon is to guard his normal attacks, and build up your HEAT gauge.
  • During Amon's regular attacks you can counter him to help damage him. You can also pull off HEAT actions on Amon, but the timing can be pretty brutal, you can get it if you practice enough.
  • During the Pistol fights NEVER stand too far away from him, he will probably hit you with his 180 degree burst otherwise
  • Also if you stand too far away from Amon, he has a bomb attack that he can throw at you, and those hurt
  • If you see Amon slip on the garbage on the ground and your close by... there is a chance you will die instantly. Reason: when Amon slips on the garbage, he sometimes unleashes a ton of bombs as he goes down, if your close by all the bombs will probably hit you.
  • Side step behind his back then unleash your combo fury to his back, if Amon sidesteps, quickly sidestep with him.
  • Keep sidestepping around him to attack his back with full combos
  • When Amon starts using melee attacks along with his guns (Dual Guns II), guard his attacks to help build the HEAT gauge.

Here is a video to help you fight Amon, note the user in the video is fighting Amon on EASY:

Toggle Spoiler

Once you beat Amon, you complete the final Substory and finally get this trophy, as an added bonus, you get access to the strongest weapon in the game, the Golden Pistol. It has 800 ATK and infinite ammo, with this you can do Testament to Strength easily.

[top]
Bounty Hunter
Apprehend all hitmen.

There are 20 hitmen to apprehend. Once you meet Ibuki, you will have access to start capturing them. More hitmen become available throughout the main story. Once you get all 20 you unlock this trophy.

[top]
Key Collector
Open all the lockers in the top row in both Kamurocho and Downtown Ryukyu.

Similar to finding the secret packages in the GTA games, but can be harder to find because some of them require the first person perspective to find them. You can begin your locker key hunt once your begin chapter 4. The keys are hidden in both towns Kamurocho and Ryukyu, 50 each. You only have to find keys 1-10 in both towns to get this trophy. You will get the trophy after you open lockers 1-10 in both cities.

Key Locations ( means requires first person prespective):
Ryukyu Keys 1-10:

1: In the southwest corner of the Kariyushi Arcade and Market, next to a white/green striped awning.
2: Inside Aqua Sky
3: Inside the Weapon Van
4: On the second floor of the market inside the arcade. Once you reach the top of the stairs, look up at the fluorescent light bulbs.
5: Across from the Monorail Station is Ryukyu Trust Bank and Ebisu Pawn Shop. Look up in the tree out front.
6: On Kubochi Road (West of the Monorail station). Investigate one of the pillars to find the key.
7: Atop the wooden fence on the south side of the road out front of Sunshine Orphanage
8: Inside Ryukyu Nights
9: Public Market North, in between two planters.
10: On a chair inside Smile Burger

Kamurocho Keys 1-10:

1: In front of Club Sega on Nakamichi St.
2: To the west of the Coin Lockers, up on a wall above the yellow "No Littering" signs.
3: Near the entrance to Kanrai
4: In the empty space across the street from Park 3, up on the wall at the end, between two outside unit air conditioners
5: On a tree at the base of the Milennium Tower's south side
6: Behind New Serena, on top of the brick wall near the blue vending machines
7: Inside Club Sega in the Square in front of the Theaters
8: On the floor inside M.E.B.
9: Inside the Parking Lot at Shichifuku, on the pipes on the north wall
10: On the ground on the southern alley running off to the west from Pink Street, near the Divine Dragon tattoo parlor.

Gourmet Aficionado
Order the most expensive item(s) in all restaurants.

Basically you have to eat or drink the most expensive items at all the restaurants and bars. Some of them will require you to have the magazine Tokyo Ishukan, in order to access the "secret" items on some restaurant and bar menus. Not sure why you HAVE to have it with you when eating at a restaurant, you cannot put it storage and hope for it to work. Tokyo Ishukan can be purchased at your local Poppo. Make sure you do not have full HP when trying to eat out, doing that is no different that going to a buffet on a full stomach. Here is the list of all the items you will have to eat or drink:

HEAT Action Pro
Finish 50 battles with HEAT actions.

This one is easy and straightforward. All you have to do is make sure when your fighting the random encounters is use the special HEAT actions on the last guy standing, and make sure it kills him (it usually does for random encounters). Do this 50 times and you'll unlock this trophy.

Note: This trophy can be tracked in the hideout. Also once you get to 50 and the trophy, the counter no longer goes up.

[top]
Legendary Champion
Claim victory in all Coliseum tournaments.

To do this one you must have access to the Coliseum. You will have to win all tournaments 3 times, with a couple of exceptions:

-Bomber GP only need to win once
-Hyper GP need to win 5 times
-Magnum Force need to win 5 times

Team Battle Partners
Some of the tournaments will require you to have a partner in order to fight. In order for them to join you, you have to defeat them in the coliseum first (except Keigo). Here is a list of partners and requirements for them to join you:

Maxim Soldadov: Outside the coliseum
Bruce Ebinuma: First win 50 encounter battles, Go the Earth Angel, a bar in the Champion District, and talk to the two guys in the back. Bruce will arrive and you can talk to him.
Daiji Hiyama: Break 50 weapons in street battles then you'll find him in Smile Burger.
Keigo Jinno: You'll find two guys in Mach Bowling. Talk to them, fight Keigo afterwords he will talk to you then walk with you to the coliseum, leave then come back. Talk to him again and he will join you.
Masayuki Hatae: Play 5 full games of the batting cages. He'll be there when you do, unless you score at least 1,200 in the hard cages and do the "#1 Draft Pick" Substory.

Some of the opponents in the coliseum can be very tough like Komaki (Kiryu's teacher), you could even say some of the fights are harder than fighting Amon. To do the coliseum the "easy" way is to look at the list of opponents and see if any of the hard challengers are on there, if they are just quit out then try to join the tournament again. Do this until all the easier opponents show up.

[top]
Tinkerer
Make a mod weapon.

This one is easy, once you get access to weapon/equipment modding just pick up some magazines from the weapon modder and look for an easy recipe to make. Once you get all the materials take them to the weapon modder and he will make it for you. You will unlock the trophy afterwords.

[top]
Blogging Debut
Have your first Revelation.

This trophy is practically a gimme, because as soon as you meet Mack you will run into your first revelation. Once you get the revelation and Kazuma finishes his speed texting, you should unlock the trophy. Here is a list of all the Revelations in the game, and some of them are pretty funny:

Path of the Warrior
Encounter all the masters.

There are 3 masters to "encounter." The Inner Fighter 7 is not a master, but teaches some very helpful Essences. Once you encounter all 3 you will receive this trophy:

Mack: Your "real" encounter with him is not when you run into him for your first revelation, not when your chasing him done, but once you meet him in Purgatory (West Park). He trains you in running.
Yonashiro: Shows up during the main story. Teaches you weapon masteries for nunchaku, tonfu and kali sticks.
Komaki: available after you complete the mission Ryugujo Revived. You'll get a letter from him handed to you once you complete the mission. This mission can be found behind Millennium Tower. Komaki is a secret arts teacher, some of the skills will become very useful to you.
Inner Fighter 7 (IF7): IF7 is an "arcade" game, which teaches you essences. In the south-east section of the Champion District. There will be a guy who looks like a mad scientist, talk to him.

[top]
Hat Trick
Get a hat trick in darts.

Easier said than done, basically when your up to throw, you have to get all 3 of your darts in the Bull's Eye. This will require some practice. Once you get the Hat Trick you will acquire this trophy.

[top]
Break Ace
Get a break ace in Nine-Ball pool.

Once again easier said than done, but this one was trouble for me. Comparing this to Hat Trick, that one was a walk in the park. To get this one you have to be playing Nine-Ball pool, your goal is to sink the 9 Ball on the Breaking Shot (the first shot of the game). The easiest, but still pretty difficult way of doing this is to move the Cue Ball all the way left or right so that it is near or against the table. Once there aim at the ball behind the 1 ball (the balls behind the 1 ball is not always the same ball), but still make sure your going to hit the 1 Ball otherwise you will scratch. It took me several tries to get this one, but you will get this one eventually.

If you somehow managed to master the Break Ace, you can use this to Ace the Advanced and Expert Computers when going for Minigame Master.

[top]
Karaoke King
Sing all songs at karaoke.

This one is straightforward and easy, all you have to do is sing all the songs at karaoke. Here is a list of who sings what songs:

I Wanna Change: Haruka
Kamurocho Lullaby: Kiryu Kazuma
Where Has Your Touch Gone?: Riho Nishiyama (Kamurocho),
Shooting Star: Sayaka Araki (Kamurocho), Nemu (Kamurocho), Nao Kaneshiro (Ryukyu)
Saturday Night (Star) Lover: Eri Momoka (Kamurocho), Mika Tsuchiya (Ryukyu)
Summer Memories: Rina Sakurai (Kamurocho), Shizuka Muto (Kamurocho), Saya Unten (Ryukyu)

[top]
Fowl Play
Get a turkey while bowling.

For those who do not know what a turkey is, it is getting 3 strikes in a row. This trophy is pretty easy, once you got your perfect striking shot, just do it 3 times in a row.

[top]
Tag Hoarder
Earn a combined total of 10,000 points in cee-lo, cho-han, koi-koi and oicho-kabu.

Easily acquired by for those going for Minigame Master. All you have to do is earn a combined total of 10,000 points in cee-lo, cho-han, koi-koi, and oicho-kabu.

[top]
Chip Hoarder
Earn a combined total of 10,000 points in poker, roulette, and blackjack.

The casino version of Tag Hoarder, this trophy is also acquired easily when going for Minigame Master. The very easy way of getting this trophy is to play roulette and put half of your bet on Red and half on Black. Your chances of winning your money back will be 34/36 (because 0 and 00 count as something completely different). If you have the Zero Jewel you can test your luck on 0 or 00 for a 50% chance of winning 36 times your winnings. These tactics will also help you towards completion of Roulette for Minigame Master.

[top]
Pro Gamer
Complete trophy conditions for the games in the arcade.

This trophy can be misleading. When it says "Complete trophy conditions" this is not intended towards Minigame Master. There are only 2 arcade minigames in Yakuza 3 (North American version only), Crane Game and Boxcelios. For Boxcelios you only have to get top ranking (unverified) of the high scores list. For Crane Game you have to get 10 items in the game (they can be the same items). If you aim for Minigame Master, this trophy is easily acquired along the way.

[top]
Skilled Hitter
Hit 2 panels with one ball in a Hard game at the batting cages.

This one is easy, all you have to do is aim between 2 panels in a Hard game and hit the ball. If both panels light up, then this trophy is yours.

[top]
Power Driver
Hit a 350 yard drive in Competition Mode in golf.

This trophy is practically a gimme. While playing the golf minigame during the main storyline, or when on your own towards Minigame Master, your bond to hit the ball as hard as you can. You will earn this trophy with ease.

[top]
Big Tuna
Catch a tuna.

Milestone trophy towards Minigame Master. Basically all you have to do is catch a tuna, but note the tuna is the hardest fish to catch in the game. I suggest you practice catching the other fish (and trash) before attempting this trophy.

Note: While attempting this and aiming for the requirements towards Minigame Master, you should remember to pick up boxes and trash that appear near the fishing spot. This way you can also aim for Master Environmentalist, and Minigame Master at the same time.

[top]
Minigame Master
Complete all minigames.

This is problem trophy #1 of 2. Whether this trophy is harder than Ultimate Challenger will be your own opinion, but I found this one harder. There are 16 Minigames to "Master" in the North American Version and 20 in the Japanese Version. This trophy is so much trouble I'll have to post the requirements and tips in my Second Post, under the Minigames section.

[top]
Ultimate Challenger
Play all rounds in Ultimate Skill mode after beating the game.

Problem trophy #2 of 2. I think this trophy should be at least a or even . Just be glad you do not have to get an S rank on all the challenges. All you have to do is play all 35 challenges, the hard part: getting to challenge 35, which requires you to pass all other challenges. I will post a section in the Second Post, under the Ultimate Challenger section for tips on PASSING (not S rank) the challenges. Once you have access to the final challenge, just play it, win or lose you will unlock the trophy afterwords.

[top]
Testament to Strength
Beat the Game on Extra Hard.

This is the easiest in the game. First you must beat the game on Hard to unlock Extra Hard. This trophy can be done the cheap way or the legitimate way. The legitimate way is to play the game normally and finish it like any other game. The cheap way is to complete Substory Completionist and get the Golden Pistol from your first playthrough (all items transfer through playthroughs). The Golden Pistol makes the game go by in a flash.

[top]
Marathon Runner
Run 42.195 km.

All you have to do is run a real marathon ingame (1 marathon= 42.195 km). This can be done easily without trying as long as you do not use the taxi services too often. Both Ryukyu and Kamurocho are not really that big, so there really is not a reason for you to use the taxi service, unless it's part of the story.

Note: This trophy can be tracked in the hideout. Once you reach 42.195 km and the trophy, this counter no longer goes up.

[top]
Careless Dragon
Knock over 100 People.

This trophy is only time consuming, this is not very hard to do. Some people are easier to knock over than others. When going for this trophy the easiest people to knock over are the ones who are hunched over. Just run behind them and run through them, if they fall to the ground that will count towards this trophy. You do not have to knock over the hunched over people and you can knock anyone over. I have failed to knock over any girls or women.

Note: This trophy can be tracked in the hideout. Once you reach 100 knocked over and the trophy, the counter no longer goes up.

[top]
People Watcher
Initiate 10 battles by using first-person mode.

This trophy is easy. All you have to do is find the random encounter, but do not actually run into him. Instead when you see one of the encounters (you can tell who is a random encounter by the area the guy is walking in or around) switch to first person mode using and look at him. The screen should automatically zoom in onto the the guy and he will run up to you and start a battle. Do this 10 times and the trophy will unlock after you finish the 10th battle.

[top]
Compulsive Vandal
Break 100 weapons picked up in battle.

You might get this trophy without trying, if you end up in lots of random battles. The easiest way of getting this trophy is to pick up any items that are lying around and use them until they break. Once you break 100 random items the trophy should unlock.

Note: This trophy can be tracked in the Hideout. Once you reach 100 Weapons Broken and the trophy, the counter no longer goes up.

[top]
Walking Bank
Accumulate 10,000,000 yen.

This trophy will definitely be time consuming on your part. You have to hold at least 10,000,000 yen all at once. I do not recommend doing this in real life (unless your as Bad*** as Kazuma), you probably will get jumped. Some of the random battles give a nice sum of money (most I've seen is 50,000 yen). Completing the game gives a large amount of yen as well (Extra Hard does not give Yen):

Easy: 1,000,000 yen
Normal: 2,000,000 yen
Hard: 3,000,000 yen

If you have the free DLC that comes with the game, some of the "games" within can give a great deal of money as well. You can access these games in the House of Extras (looks like a fortune teller). You can find them in game in Premium Adventure Mode on the Second Floor of the Ryukyu Market or Purgatory in Kamurocho. I earned almost 400,000 Yen from winning the first 2 battles of team battles. Once you reach at least 10,000,000 yen you will unlock this trophy.

Note: I highly recommend that you do not attempt any of the Gambling Hall or Casino minigame requirements towards Minigame Master, until you complete this trophy first.

[top]
Volunteer
Remove 5 pieces of garbage from Sunshine beach.

See Master Environmentalist.

[top]
Master Environmentalist
Remove 30 pieces of garbage from Sunshine beach.

This trophy can be a major pain. This trophy is purely time consuming. All you have to do is pick up 30 pieces of trash off the beach. However most of the time you will find a box with an item inside. This does NOT count towards this trophy. The fastest way of doing this is to go to the fishing pole, start up the fishing minigame, but do not actually start fishing (unless your still aiming to get the requirements towards Minigame Master). Instead back out of the game and check the beach for boxes or trash. Trash is defined as a stick/branch, broken umbrella, empty soda can, or empty boxes. Rinse and repeat this process until you find 30 pieces of trash. Once you get 30 trash items, you will unlock this trophy.

[top]Substories List

This list of Substories is listed to let you know when which substories are available. Note that some of them become unavailable at certain times. All substories are available during Premium Adventure Mode. This list is designed to only tell you where each substory starts, if you get lost during a substory I recommend you look up the substory on the Completion List and the game will give you a hint on how to continue/complete the substory. [top]Minigames List

Minigames are a well known asset to the Yakuza franchise. In order for you to get a "Completion" of a minigame I have listed all the minigames in the North American version, and some tips on getting all the minigames completed.

Minigame types:
Parlor: 2 Minigames
Arcade: 2 Minigames
Gambling (Gambling Hall): 4 Minigames,
Gambling (Casino): 3 Minigames
Sports: 4 Minigames
Music: 1 Minigame

Darts: Parlor Minigame

This minigame can be played in Bantam (Kamurocho) and Aqua Sky (Ryukyu). To get a completion for this game you must defeat each opponent once in each of the 3 types of Darts Games (01, Cricket, and Count Up). There are 6 opponents so you will need to win a minimum of 18 games in order to get completion in this minigame.

Susumu Yamada (Easy, Kamurocho)
Satoru Hayashi (Intermediate, Kamurocho)
Koji Iba (Advanced, Kamurocho)
Kota Hatano (Easy, Ryukyu)
Kazuhiro Hirai (Intermediate, Ryukyu)
Shigeru Honma (Advanced, Ryukyu)

Warning: This minigame can be very frustrating when facing the Advanced opponents (they are in a completely different league from Intermediate). They may seem to be perfect at darts, but even they make mistakes, when they do you better beat them then, or you will probably have to play them again.

Tips for Completion:

-Practice your control of the and get a feel for how you throw your darts, it will seem tough, but after a while you should get used to it
-When playing Count Up, the Bull's Eye is NOT the best spot to throw your darts at, the Triple 20 is worth more, you will notice the Advanced opponents only aim around there
-Patience is important in this game, if you find this frustrating I suggest you take a break, or do something else to cool down (maybe beat up some thugs on the street)

Pool: Parlor Minigame

This minigame can only be played in Aqua Sky. Like Darts, in order for you to get the completion requirement for this minigame requires you to defeat all opponents in all game types. There are 3 types of game of pool (9 Ball, Rotation, and 8 Ball). You will need to win a minimum of 12 games in order to get the completion requirement for this minigame.

Makoto Kano (Beginner)
Shunichi Arai (Intermediate)
Kiko Hirakawa (Advanced)
Seiji Nakano (Expert)

Warning: Like darts, this game can become very frustrating. Both advanced and Expert computers (especially Expert) will be pulling off shots, that even professional pool players would not even think of trying. Even the computers make mistakes, so when they do take advantage of those moments to catch up or beat them down.

Tips for Completion:

-Like in real pool, try to get used to geometry and physics in this game. If you are not very good at pool this may give you a better idea of how to control your shots.
-Use the overhead view before every shot, that view is invaluable to helping you get the shots you like
-To make the game a little easier, line up the shot you are attempting to hit, once lined up take a piece of paper and line up the shadow of the cue ball and the ball you are striking. From there see if the ball is likely to land in the pocket of your choice, if it does not line up properly, readjust your shot so that it can do so.
-If you mastered "Break Ace" you can Ace any of the computers at the game of 9-Ball, you can also attempt to Break Ace all the games even without the "mastery," but I found that very tedious.

Karaoke: Music Minigame

Available in both Ryukyu and Kamurocho. This is a minigame where you have to push the corresponding button as the slider passes over them. This minigame is not all that hard, even if you do not play any music games. If you play games like DDR, PIU, Guitar Hero, etc. This game will be very easy for you. In order to get the completion requirement for this game, you will need to get a title of Dragon of Karaoke in all 6 songs. That is a minimum score of 900 each. Here is a list of the songs and who sings each one:

I Wanna Change: Haruka
Kamurocho Lullaby: Kiryu Kazuma
Where Has Your Touch Gone?: Riho Nishiyama (Kamurocho),
Shooting Star: Sayaka Araki (Kamurocho), Nemu (Kamurocho), Nao Kaneshiro (Ryukyu)
Saturday Night (Star) Lover: Eri Momoka (Kamurocho), Mika Tsuchiya (Ryukyu)
Summer Memories: Rina Sakurai (Kamurocho), Shizuka Muto (Kamurocho), Saya Unten (Ryukyu)

Tips for Completion:

-This game is actually harder on easy to score, than on hard
-Play on hard so you have more leeway for mistakes
-The hardest song is I Wanna Change, if you can get a good score on that, your basically home free for this minigame

Bowling: Sports Minigame

Only available in Kamurocho, at Mach Bowling. This minigame is based off of bowling. There is only 1 requirement for completion of this minigame and that is to get a score of 200 or higher.

Tips for Completion:

-This minigame is not that hard to get a score over 200. If you can get your perfect control shot, just keep doing that and you will probably get turkeys on the way towards 200. That way you can get Fowl Play done on the way towards the completion of this minigame. Also this will trigger the Death Bowler substory quest when your done.

Tips for all Gambling games:

-Luck is an important factor, but so is skill. Do not play blindly, you probably will lose a lot of money.
-There are different items to help you with different games, use them when you enter a good table
-You luck is different every time you join a table, if you feel like you are doing very poorly, I suggest you leave the table and reenter the game. This is essential for the minigames that must be done in 1 sitting.

Cee-Lo: Gambling (Gambling Hall) Minigame

This minigame only has one requirement, win over 20,000 points (tags) total. Available in both Kamurocho and Ryukyu's Gambling Halls.

Tips for Completion:

-Your counter does not go down if you lose a game. So if your playing an okay luck game, you can stick around or leave at your leisure
-Remember that you have to play 4 rounds (1 for each player as dealer) before you can leave a game
-There are 3 items that can help you in this game, but you can only use 1 per sitting, so keep that in mind
-Piss Mountain Stone: causes opponent to roll a dice out of the bowl and causing him to lose his turn
-1-2-3 Gum: Causes Opponents to Roll 1-2-3, which makes them lose automatically
-1-1-1 Card: Causes you to get triples a few times

Cho-Han: Gambling (Gambling Hall) Minigame

Just like Cee-Lo, there is only one requirement for completion, win over 20,000 points total. Available only in Kamurocho's Gambling Hall.

Tips for Completion:

-Your counter does not go down if you lose a game, so play at your leisure
-There are 2 items that will help you in this game, you can only use 1 per sitting, so use them wisely
-Lopsider Cigarette:causes other players to all bet one way (more winnings if you win against them)
-Even Goro's Beads: causes the dealer to roll 5 even rolls, in a row

Koi-Koi: Gambling (Gambling Hall) Minigame

There is only one requirement, win over 10,000 points total. Available in both Kamurocho and Ryukyu.

Tips for Completion:

-Try to match up the cards with Animals or talismans first, so you can get more points easier
-Learn to not select Koi! without looking at your opponent's cards, otherwise you may screw yourself over
-You will only win/lose your tags after all months you play (the number of months you select), keep in mind that your overall score will affect the number of tags you win or lose
-There are no items to help boost you in this game, you have to play "legitimately" here

Oicho-Kabu: Gambling (Gambling Hall) Minigame

Once again only one requirement, win over 10,000 points total. Only available in Ryukyu's Gambling Hall

Tips for Completion:

-When playing, think before you select which pile you want, think of it this way, if you select the first pile your chances are more random because you have more card chances than if you select one of the last piles, but if you select one of the last piles your chances of getting a certain card are higher
-When not the dealer I always attempt to go for the piles with a 1 or a 4, because this give me a chance of getting the 1/4 hand (which is higher than 9)
-There are no boosting items for this game, so you will have to play fair

Roulette: Gambling (Casino) Minigame

One requirement: Win over 20,000 chips total. Located in both Kamurocho Casinos

Tips for Completion:

-This minigame is very easy to get done, just takes a moment of your time
-To get this done the super easy way, put half of the max bet on red and half the max bet on black, you should win more than 95% of the time
-There are 3 items to help boost you here
-Zero Jewel: Causes the roulette to roll a 0 or 00
-Red Jewel: Causes the roulette to roll Red
-Black Jewel: Causes the roulette to roll Black
-If you use the Zero Jewel, you can make a huge amount, if you put the maximum bet on either 0 or 00 after you use the Jewel, then you have a 50% chance of winning 36 times your bet, so I suggest you save first before trying this

Poker: Gambling (Casino) Minigame

This game has one requirement, win 10,000 chips, but you have to do it in one sitting. You can play this in both of Kamurocho's Casinos. You can either play low ante (Ante 5, Big Ante 10) or high ante (Ante 50, Big Ante 100).

Tips for Completion:

-This game is actually Texas Hold'em, most people do not play regular poker much
-Luck and skill are important here. Unlike real life Hold'em you cannot study your opponents facial reactions or emotions, but you can study what they are saying (or thinking?)
-For those who play Texas Hold'em regularly, your tactics will work well here
-There is one item to help boost you in this game
-Royal Joker Card: Causes the cards on the table to give you better and stronger hands

Blackjack
- Gambling (Casino) Minigame

One requirement, win 10,000 chips, but you have to do it in one game. This minigame is available in both Kamurocho's Casinos.

Note: This minigame is available at both Casinos, but there are some differences between the 2. The Rune Casino in Ryugujo offers you to play the house or low stakes (min bet 10, max bet 100) Blackjack. The Fukuma Casino offers the low stakes (min bet 10, max bet 100) or high stakes (min bet 100, max bet 1000).

Tips for Completion:

-This game will require luck and calculations (not card counting, it will not work here), unless you use the Blackjack Amulet
-Before even acting on hitting, standing, etc. It is a good idea to study the other computer's hands, from there you can get a small understanding of the chances of what card will or will not show up
-Remember you are only playing against the dealer, do not worry about the other opponents cards
-There is 2 items that can help boost you here
-Bust Amulet: Causes the Dealer to bust that round
-Blackjack Amulet: Causes you to get Blackjack 5 times in a row O.O
-To get this minigame done very quickly, go to the Fukuma Casino and play high stakes Blackjack, use the Blackjack Amulet and you should be able to earn 10,000 chips by the time the amulet wears off

Items to be added

Biggy Bear (Blue)
Biggy Bear (Pink)

Warning: This minigame can be very frustrating when attempting to catch one of everything. Breaks are advised when feeling very stressed out.

Tips for Completion
:

-Some of the items can be picked up easier by the way they are positioned, sometimes you have to knock things over in order to make it easier to pick them up
-Piyo-Chans (not the big one) can be picked up easier if knocked over, you can pick them up if you can get the claw to grip them under both of its arms but that is pretty hard
-Silk Piyo-Chan can only be found at the Club Sega Theater UFO catcher only, and in only one set up as well (Big Piyo-chan sitting on a top of a pile of smaller piyo-chans)
-Beary Bears are the easiest to pick up, because you can pick them up by the head or body
-Biggy Bears can be picked up by the ears (but that is relatively hard), knocking them over to pick them up by the body is easier
-All Kitty Kats and Fat Cats are easier to be picked up by the body (sometimes by the tail), for some reason their heads are too round to gripped properly.
-Chura-Chan can be picked up standing up, but can also be picked up around the body
-Yummy Bars can be picked up 2 at a time if they are standing up against each other (one of the default setups has 3 pairs sitting against each other)
-The Big Piyo-Chan is a challenge to pick up, best around the body after being knocked over, the claw will have a hard time gripping it
-Patience is important here, break when needed

Extra Hard: 1 Straight, 2 Curve, 3 Sinker, 4 Straight, 5 Sinker, 6 Curve, 7 Sinker, 8 Sinker, 9 Curve, 10 Straight, 11 Straight, 12 Curve, 13 Curve, 14 Straight, 15 Straight, 16 Sinker, 17 Curve, 18 Sinker, 19 Sinker, 20 Straight

You will need a score of at least 1,800 on each difficulty to get the completion requirement for this game.

Warning: Extra Hard is in another league compared to Hard.

Tips for completion:

-Practice on Easy and make your way up to Extra Hard
-On hard try to aim between 2 panels so that you can get 2 panels with one ball and Skilled Hitter as well.
-The ball throw order may be the same, but the speed of which they are thrown can be different sometimes
-Extra Hard is much harder than hard because you cannot hit more than 1 panel at a time, and more importantly, you have no aiming retical
-To make Extra Hard easier, start up any of the other difficulty games, take a small piece of paper and tape it where the reticle is, that will be your retical for Extra Hard
-If you noticed every time the ball is thrown too you, Kazuma's pose changes at a certain point. At this point you can hit the ball
-If you can memorize all the ball throws, that can help you a lot. The throws are the same all the time for each difficulty
-If you do not feel like watching the ball you can just watch Kazuma's pose change and hit the ball, you can even cover up most of the screen (not the part your aiming at though!) so you can only focus on Kazuma's pose change.
-If you mess up more than 4 balls on Extra Hard, you will probably have to start over

Golf: Sports Minigame

One requirement towards completion, get a score of -5 in Competition Mode. This game is only found in Ryukyu's Monorail Station.

Warning: If you hate golf you will hate this minigame even more.

Tips for Completion:

-This game will definitely require some skill and practice, even if you love golf games
-If you cannot get even 1 birdie before the fourth hole, I suggest you start over
-If you get a boogie within any of the first 3 holes, start over
-Learn to control your shots and angling them on the ball, they make a big difference

Fishing: Sports Minigame

This minigame is only available on Sunshine Beach. There are 8 things you need to fish out of the water, and you need all 8 in order to get the requirement completion for this game. I have provided a list of the best times and spots to catch each fish (or other things), they are listed in order of the Completion list:

Tuna: 100-150m, Anytime
Gurukun: 30-100m, Anytime
Abasa: 0-50m, Evening
Mibai: 50-100m, Day
Irabucha: 50-120m, Anytime
Sea Snail: 0-30m, Night
Coral Branch: 0-50m, Evening
Umbrella: 0-50m, Day

Tips for Completion:

-If you can catch the Tuna, you will get the Big Tuna trophy and the rest of the fist will be a cake walk for you
-If you cannot catch the Tuna (yet) practice on the other fish first, once your good enough to catch fish like Mibai, Gurukun, and Irabucha you should be about ready
-Practice makes perfect, do not give up

Boxcelios: Arcade Minigame

Only one completion requirement, get to level 50 or higher. Available at both arcades in Kamurocho.

Tips for Completion:

-This minigame will require some skill in order to meet the requirement
-You move faster when you are NOT shooting, so sometimes it is a good idea to stop shooting, so you can line up with the boxes your trying to destroy
-You have about a 3-5 at the beginning of each level before the timer starts going down, so always try to destroy the boxes before the timer starts
-Try not to waste time by destroying the whole box creature, just aim for the extra shiny spot
-My highest level was 76 so I am not sure what the max level is, I'm not good enough to find out ._.

[top]Ultimate Challenge List

This is a guide for passing Ultimate Challenges (Not S-Ranking), though some of my tips could help you towards getting S-Rank, so give them a try. I have listed the S-Rank requirements as well for those who are interested, but remember that is completely optional.

Ultimate Skill: There are 5 types of Challenges:

Melee: 10 Challenges
Grudge: 5 Challenges
Challenge: 10 Challenges
Team: 5 Challenges
Ultimate: 5 Challenges

Melee Challenges: These are the "easier" Challenges of Ultimate Challenge. These fights are mostly emphasized around random encounter enemies. You usually have weapons at your disposal as well.

Melee 1: Eliminate all enemies within the time limit. [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 1:20 Remaining
-You have all stats at level 10
-Try not to get surrounded
-Use the weapons they provide to take the enemies down easier
-Use the circle attack when they are bunched up
-This challenge should not be too hard.

Melee 2: Eliminate 100 enemies within the time limit [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 2:30 Remaining
-You have all stats at level 10
-Similar to SSBM or SSBB's 100 Multi Man Melee
-Try not to get surrounded
-Use the weapons to make your life easier, you should not really have to use the circle attack unless near the end
-Take out the ones with weapons first, some of them hurt

Melee 3: Eliminate all enemies within the time limit. Golden Pistol available [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 1:30 Remaining
-You have the golden pistol... enough said
-This should be the easiest Challenge in the game

Melee 4: Eliminate all enemies within the time limit. Super Mod Lighter available [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 3:00 Remaining
-Soul and Body Level 10, Tech and Essence Level 3
-You have the Super Mod Lighter, catch is you HAVE to use it
-5 Minute Timer
-Try to build up your gauge with the square attack, only use the triangle attack when you have at least a Blue HEAT aura, then when the enemy is on the ground use the HEAT action to step on them

Melee 5: Invade the hideout and defeat Tetsuo Tamashiro. Recovery Items prohibited. [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 4:00 Remaining (This includes beating the boss)
-Soul and Essence Level 10, Tech and Body Level 5
-Not much different than the Chapter 3 level
-Just clear the level like you would in Chapter 3, just remember no healing items
-Be careful when fighting the boss

Melee 6: Eliminate all enemies without losing HEAT mode.

-S-Rank: Clear time 1:30 Remaining
-Soul and Essence Level 10, Tech and Body Level 5
-This one is pretty easy, just try to avoid using HEAT actions whenever possible
-If you use a HEAT action by accident just make sure you do not follow up with that HEAT action, otherwise you will probably fail the challenge.
-Go for the guys with the guns first, they will annoy you otherwise

Melee 7: Eliminate all enemies. Kazuma's health will steadily decrease.

-S-Rank: Clear time 0:40 Remaining
-Tech Level 10 and Soul, Body, Essence Level 5
-This is where the True Ultimate Challenge begins
-You lose health over time (and at a pretty fast pace)
-Try to defeat the Tough Woman first
-Do NOT get surrounded

Melee 8: Eliminate all enemies. Enemy health will steadily recover.

-S-Rank: Clear time 3:00 Remaining
-Tech Level 10 and Soul, Body, Essence Level 5.
-The reverse of Melee 7, enemies will recover HP over time
-Do NOT get surrounded
-Work your way on 1 guy at a time
-Use HEAT actions like water

Melee 9: Eliminate all enemies. [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 1:00 Remaining
-All stats Level 1
-You have to beat up 6 people with all level 1 stats... and these 6 guys are no pushovers either
-1 Positive thing is that you have access to weapons, USE THEM
-Try to get the guy with the gun first
-Do not get surrounded and do not let enemies get behind you

Melee 10: Eliminate all enemies.

-S-Rank: Automatic S
-All stats Level 1
-Ultimate Test of Melee, similar to Melee 9, except with 1 Major Difference, you die in 1 hit
-Get the guy with the Gun first!!!!
-Use the gun against the remaining enemies
-At least a couple of them should die, pick up their weapons to finish them all off

Grudge Challenges: These are basically fights against bosses in the game, most of them are straightforward.

Grudge 1: Eliminate Rikiya Shimabukuro.

-S-Rank: Under 600 Damage points
-Soul and Body Level 10, Tech and Essence Level 3
-This match should be easier than the one during the normal game, except no healing items
-If you have trouble here, I suggest you play the main story again

Grudge 2: Eliminate Lau Ka Long.

-S-Rank: Under 700 Damage points
-Soul and Essence Level 10, Tech and Body Level 5
-This fight should not be much different from the main game either
-Just remember you do not have any healing items

Grudge 3: Eliminate Joji Fuma.

-S-Rank: Under 700 Damage points
-Soul and Body Level 10, Tech and Essence Level 3
-This fight is straightforward with the possible exception of low Tech and Essence (Depend on how you leveled Kazuma)
-Beware of his parry, if you played ACII his hand movement looks similar to Ezio's counter
-He tends to not parry if you unless only square attacks, commonly parries triangle attacks
-If your fast at mashing buttons grab him with circle and throw him as many times as you can
-When he has an aura, best to run around until it fades away

Grudge 4: Eliminate Richardson. Recovery Items prohibited.

-S-Rank: Under 700 Damage points
-Soul and Essence Level 10, Tech and Body Level 5
-This fight is not too different towards the end of the game
-Try to get around him and combo him there
-Do not make the distance too far away, otherwise he will just shoot you

Grudge 5: Eliminate Yoshitaka Mine. [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Automatic S
-All stats level 1
-Sounds relatively difficult, but can actually be easy if done right
-You have slime spray time it well (great when he has Red or Orange auras)
-You can use the other weapons if you like
-When he has the purple aura bash him after he starts his healing skill (not before, otherwise it hits you)

Challenge Challenges: These are random challenges, based off of nothing really, some of them are very challenging hence the name Challenge.

Challenge 1: Race from Tenkaichi st. to Purgatory.

-S-Rank: Clear Time 0:55
-Stat Levels do not matter here
-There is no challenge here, this one is a cake walk
-Just run like there is no tomorrow

Challenge 2: Defeat all enemies with as few hits as possible.

-S-Rank: Less than 15 hits
-Tech Level 10, Soul, Body, Essence Level 5
-This one is not challenging unless your aiming for S-rank
-Just kill the 3 guys, few hits better rank

Challenge 3: Act as the director commands within the time limit [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Automatic S
-All stats level 10
-This is a game of Simon Says, with a time limit
-Memorize the sequence if you can
-List of Moves to use:

-Komaki Dragon King Essense: Komaki Parry an enemy, on that enemy with Blue HEAT
-Essence of Smoking: push down, then with Blue HEAT on any enemy
-Essence of Stabbing (Wall): With a short sword and Blue HEAT, push against someone near a wall
-Essence of Head Bashing: Grab an enemy and use when another enemy is nearby, requires Red HEAT

-Hard part is to do all this in 4 minutes, sometimes the enemies can be very... uncooperative

Challenge 4: Do as the children say within the time limit.

-S-Rank: Clear Time 1:00
-All stats Level 10
-Another Simon Says
-Memorize the Sequence if you can:

-Drop Kick: Run to an enemy and push (no HEAT)
-Komaki Cat Feet: when knocked off, quickly push to get back up
-Komaki Dodge Shot: use when quickstepping (regular action), with no HEAT
-Knockdown Reversal: basically if you get knocked down push to quickly counter attack (no HEAT)
-True Lotus Flare Fist: Double charge your attack with , basically hold triangle until Kazuma changes his pose
-You only have 2 minutes to do all of this, as with the last challenge, some enemies are very uncooperative.

Challenge 5: Defeat all enemies within a single attack. [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 1:30
-All stats Level 1 (does not really matter on this stage)
-Push the 3 smaller guys into the bigger ones to make them as close as possible
-Then take out your staff and use the circle attack to wipe all of them at once
-You have only 2 minutes to set this up

Challenge 6: Destroy all weapons within the time limit. Do not defeat all enemies.

-S-Rank: Clear Time 2:49
-Stats do not matter on this stage
-Destroy all "weapons" in the level, meaning anything Kiryu can hold
-All enemies have 4 life bars, so they can take a little beating when needed
-Not as hard as it sounds, if you throw objects around they lose 1 durability
-You can hit the enemies if you like, but just watch out for weakening them too much

Challenge 7: Eliminate all enemies in time without destroying equipped weapons. [Weapons On]

-S-Rank: Clear Time 2:00
-Stats do not matter on this stage
-Defeat all enemies without destroying any of your weapons
-Do NOT use any Circle attacks, they take up too much durability

-S-Rank: Clear Time 3:29
-All stats level 10
-K.O. only the red enemies
-All black enemies will die in 2-3 regular hits, any throw or triangle attack
-For each Red enemy defeated 1 more black enemy appears
-If possible try to weaken all the red enemies as much as possible without killing them
-Once you weaken them all, K.O. them all quickly (of course without touching the black enemies), to prevent too many black enemies hanging around all at once
-5 Minute timer to make your life more meaningful

Challenge 9: Catch Supreme Mack.

-S-Rank: Clear time 1:00 Remaining
-Stats do not matter here
-You have basic running stats, while the guy your chasing has stats as if you were maxxed out (at running)
-This Challenge will probably be one of your most frustrating challenges of all

Challenge 10: Taunt every 5 seconds and eliminate all enemies. Yellow Dragon status is also considered taunting.

-S-Rank: Under 300 Damage Points
-All stats Level 10
-you have a 5 second timer
-Each time you taunt the timer goes back to 5 seconds
-Just fight this one like any other fight, but do NOT use HEAT actions, they will eat up your timer
-This one is not as hard as you would think it is

-Soul and Essence Level 10, Tech and Body Level 5

-Just fight him regularly when 1 on 1, if you end up 1 on 2, try to get Rikiya to distract the second one if needed

Team 4: Work with Goro Majima to eliminate all enemies. Do not let your partner be defeated.

-S-Rank: Clear Time 1:30
-All stats level 10
-You fight Richardson and Yoshitaka Mine (basically the final chapter bosses) at the same time
-Try to get Mine first and let Goro distract Richardson (Mine will rape Goro otherwise)
