[top]Tips & Strategies

  • Buy silencers ASAP, they help so much for liberations and sneaky missions.
  • Buy collectible maps ASAP as well, then collect any collectible you happen to be near at any given moment.
  • Don't feel obligated to capture every bell tower as they all aren't needed for the platinum, only half.
  • Remember to buy ammo every time you're at an outpost.
  • Sniping makes Far Cry 4 incredibly easy, make sure you do some of it.

Step 1: Complete the Story

First just finish the game, do whatever you feel like doing while completing the story missions. Get outposts, bell towers and do side missions at will, to make your life easier and upgrade all your stuff. Finishing the story and grabbing some misc. trophies along the way is a good idea here.

Step 2: Clean Up

Now that you've spent the 10 hours it takes to finish this game, collect all the misc. trophies and collectables that you need (make sure you buy the maps from the stores to get the collectable trophies). You pretty much want to get everything in the singleplayer finished in this step.

Step 3: Multiplayer

Here you'll need to do both the competitive multiplayer trophies (all two of them) and the few co-op trophies that you need. This step will take an hour at best and will lead you towards your .

Master Of Kyrat
Obtain all the Trophies.

Welcome To Kyrat
Join the Golden Path (Campaign only).

This trophy will unlock after you learn how to take down enemy controlled outposts, at the end of Act 1.

One Down
Decide De Pleur's fate (Campaign only).

After meeting Noore, she'll want you to take out De Pleur because he has Noore's family captive. So, you have to break into his compound, free some slaves and ultimately capture him. First you need to get into his place by sneaking onto a meat truck. When you get there, scale the outside of the area until you are behind where the truck is. Get onto the roof of the building and drop down and climb into the truck.

From here, you have to free three slaves without being detected. Start from the left side, staying at the outside of the area. Throw some bait into the middle where many guards are to keep them distracted and even take out a few. You'll get to a building that has a guy in it, quickly take him out before he detects you and free the slave. If you free a slave before failing the mission due to being spotted, the slave still counts as free. So if you are about to get spotted, just run in and free the slave quickly.

From here, you should be around the back of the area. Go for the middle slave now, tossing more bait whenever you need to sneak by. Climb onto the buildings and you'll see where this slave is. Free him and free the other one just as you have before. Now you have to get into De Pleur's office (you might want to fail the mission here as it will spawn you closer to his building if you do so). Get in through the back where all the pigs and corpses are, grapple up and jump into the window. Then walk to the door on the right and watch the cutscene. Now you have to drag De Pleur's sorry ass out of the compound and back to the Golden Path. Since you have De Pleur, go Rambo on the guards. Kill everyone and get to the getaway car and drive back to Sabal to finish the mission.

Discover Shangri-La (Campaign only).

This trophy is received through a mission from Yogi and Reggie. Their second mission will have you on a quest for Shangri-la. Go to the mission marker and you're looking for a door "with a scary face on it". When you get there, you'll be transported to the mountain areas and forced to jump off the cliff into Shangri-La. From here you'll find a tooth-knife and get the ability to control a tiger to kill demons. Do the objectives, spin the wheels, while trying to be stealthy as the demons will hurt you. Once you spin the wheels just walk to the end and cut the bell off the end the mission and get the trophy.

Two Down
Decide Noore's fate (Campaign only).

Shortly after capturing De Pleur you'll learn that Noore is up to no good and has to be stopped. First you have to find a way to the backstage of the arena. There's a grapple spot above the crowded door on the mountain, you'll also have to swing across to a vent area. Bust in and you'll be backstage. Take out the guards here and eventually you have to let some animals into the arena.

Doing that will piss off Noore, so fight another wave of guards to get to her. A short cutscene will ensue and you will have to choose whether to kill or confront her. Whichever choice you make will unlock this trophy.

Decide Yuma's fate (Campaign only).

Yuma's mission is just a roller coaster ride through a trippy drug sequence. Just get to the end while killing all demons in your way.

The King Is Dead
Decide Pagan Min's fate (Campaign only).

The first part of this mission you have to storm his palace. The whole front area is full of guards, take them out and you'll move onto the courtyard area and a mini, domination-esque game will ensue. You have to capture three areas by just standing in the area and waiting for the bar to fill. Once that's done you have to do a last stand, so jump on the mini-gun turret and take out the rest of the oncoming threats to finally move onto Pagan Min. Then you can choose what you want to do with him. Either will pop the trophy.

Deliver Us From Evil
Liberate 12 Outposts (Campaign only).

See All Clear for more information. Liberate half of the outposts for this trophy.

All Clear
Liberate all Outposts (Campaign only).

There is a total of 24 outposts in Far Cry 4 just waiting for you to liberate. These just consist of 5-10 dudes patrolling an area, with 1-3 alarms around for you to disable or get mad at. I recommend doing outposts silently with a sniper (of course with a silencer on it) and just snipe from afar, then move in and try to disable the alarms or just deal with the rest of the guards. Disable alarms when you can as if they're tripped, lots of reinforcements come and it is just the worst. So yeah, silent liberations are what you should be aiming for.

Tread Lightly
Liberate any Outpost without triggering an alarm in any mode (Campaign only).

This is easily done in the mission that introduces Outposts to you as a part of the main quest line. Use your camera to mark the enemies at the outpost, as well as caged animals. At this particular outpost there's a caged elephant. You can try to open the cage and let the elephant deal with the guards or you can try it my way. Throw some bait into the crowd of guards to attract a predator. More guards will come to deal with the predator and when it's dead, they'll go back to what they were doing. Grab a bow and arrow and silently take out the guards closest to you, then the farther ones. I ran out of bows and had to go Rambo before anyone tripped the alarm. Just keep an eye on the alarm horns in the area and make sure no one gets close enough to trip the alarms for this trophy, you do not have to stealth kill everyone at the outpost but if you are spotted, someone will try to sound the alarm.

End Transmission
Liberate 8 Bell Towers (Campaign only).

Liberating Bell Towers unfogs the map and reveals locations in a small area. To liberate Bell Towers you must traverse them, get to the top and destroy the radio to stop the propaganda. The towers each have unique climbing puzzles (which usually just result in looking for ladders or ropes that mean you can jump onto that ledge). Eight Bell Towers is only half of the total amount so you don't even have to get all of them for the platinum, but I do recommend it so you can buy maps for collectables.

Display Of Fortitude
Conquer 2 Fortresses (Campaign only).

Fortresses appear on your map as coloured castles with a letter in them. They are owned by warlords that you come across in the story. Completing campaign missions will weaken the defenses once you defeat said warlord. Then all you have to do is tackle it like a bigger outpost, with more alarms and tougher guards. Don't bother trying to liberate these fortresses before weakening them unless you have a co-op friend.

The first two that will be weakened is Paul De Pleur's and Noore's fortresses. Once you reach the points in the story where they are no longer involved, the fortress becomes weakened and ripe for attack. Just clear it out of the guards and you will be done. There are far more than two fortresses so you do not need to get them all for the platinum.

Complete any 6 Hunting quests (Supplies, Control, Survival) (Campaign only).

Hunting missions are like the Fashion Week ones except you aren't hunting one rare animal, you're either saving people from groups of animals or dealing with large groups of animals and things like that. Large clip guns usually work best in this case, so machine guns and whatnot are what you want to bring on these missions.

Complete 3 Assassination or Eye for an Eye quests (Campaign only).

Eye For An Eye and Assassination quests have you seeking revenge against crime lords that have wronged some people that are in the Golden Path alliance. They consist of you gearing up in a special location, and taking down the enemy with said gear (be it a knife, pistol, etc.). So you can't just go in guns blazing, you have to use whichever weapon is needed (sometimes you have to stealth your way through the mission). Once he's dead you either will have to loot him and hide the body or take a picture of his corpse. You only need to do three of these missions which will take a little under 10 minutes.

No One Left Behind
Rescue 15 hostages in Hostage Rescue quests (Campaign only).

There is usually 4 hostages in the Hostage Rescue missions. This means you'll have to do at least 3 of them perfect, and 4 total. That is if you do them silently. If you alert the guards, they will execute the hostages quickly. So you'll want to do these silently so as to save more hostages. There are usually only 4-6ish guards at a time so it's not that hard to snipe from a distance.

Complete 3 Kyrati Films: Racing or Kyrati Films: Survival activities (Campaign only).

Kyrat Films missions are basically races, the Racing missions being time trials and the Survival being point to point checkpoint races. Like the other side mission trophies, you get these when you liberate an outpost and get the bell tower. They show up as blue racing flags and compass dials on your map and each one takes about 2 minutes to complete.

Repel 3 Outpost Retaliation Parties (Campaign only).

When you capture an outpost, there will be enemy rebels that will try to take it back for the Royal Army. These happen when you're wandering near an allied outpost, you'll get a radio message asking for help on the group of rebels coming their way. All you have to do is go clear them out of the outpost three times for this trophy. You should get this without even knowing, assuming you like helping your friends.

Robin Hood
Hijack 3 Royal Cargo Trucks and return them to a liberated Outpost (Campaign only).

Royal Cargo Trucks are randomly spawning in the world. Take out the driver of these trucks and bring it back to a local outpost. If you're in them long enough you'll get a mission objective to deliver them, but sometimes it's a bitch to actually get them IN to the outpost. So that's a thing. But anyway, just do this three times for the trophy. If you like getting sidetracked you'd probably already have this.

Hand Of Justice
Eliminate 3 Pagan's Wrath convoys (Campaign only).

Pagan's Wrath convoys are randomly spawning convoys, consisting of usually 3 trucks. You can identify Pagan's Wrath convoys by the blue outlined skull on the map. The best and easiest way to deal with these is to press until you get mines (or C4 if you want to manually detonate) and throw them on the road that the convoy will be traveling down. The first one will explode, if you put C4 behind the first mine you can blow them all up at once, or use the mine to stop the rest of the convoy and gun 'em down. It's up to you, really. Complete three of these for the trophy.

Brother In Arms
Liberate 1 Outpost playing as Hurk (Campaign Co-op only).

All you have to do here is jump into co-op and make sure you're playing as Hurk. Then capture an outpost with your partner. If you've already captured all the outposts you can play the "replay outpost" mission in each outpost for it to still count.

Complete 3 Bomb Defusal quests (Campaign only).

Bomb defusal missions are exactly as they sound like. Go to an area and defuse the bombs. They recommend you do these silently because if you're spotted, guards will arm the bombs and they will blow up in a set amount of time (usually a minute). However you can run in Rambo-style and quickly defuse the bombs to finish the missions too, you don't fail the mission if you're spotted.

Changing Lanes
Perform a Vehicle Takedown from the passenger seat of a vehicle (Campaign Co-op only).

Basically what this means is, you have to be in the car with a friend, have them drive up to another, enemy vehicle and perform a vehicle takedown. First step would be to learn the Vehicle Takedown skill in the Tiger tree. Then, jump into co-op (I suggest using a partner for this, you can give a friend a Key of Kyrat and play co-op with them if needed) and look for an enemy vehicle. Then pull up beside it so you're in the passenger seat and next to the driver of the other vehicle, and hit for the trophy.

Toggle Spoiler

Purchase 3 items for the Ghale Homestead (Campaign only).

You unlock the Ghale Homestead after the second Yogi and Reggie mission when you kick them out. To purchase upgrades, fast travel to the homestead and walk out the door. On the left is a guy in a chair, talk to him and buy three upgrades. The cheapest ones are:
  • Water Faucet: 25,000 Rupees
  • Trading Post: 50,000 Rupees
  • Exterior Upgrade: 75,000 Rupees
For a grand total of 150,000 rupees, which all in all is not a whole lot, you should be able to get this trophy rather quickly into the game once you unlock the homestead.

Remove or destroy 15 Masks of Yalung (Campaign only).

Masks appear on the map, once you get close to them they appear as a blue circle indicating that you need to search the area for the mask. For the trophy you need 15/55 masks, so not much trouble here. The masks are usually well hidden, you're searching for a demon mask that is usually on someone's face or just lying there.

Rewriting History
Remove 30 Propaganda Posters (Campaign only).

There is a total of 150 Propaganda posters, you only need to tear down 30. You'll come across colourful posters in the world that depict Pagan Min or another warlord and saying that they should be trusted or some garbage. They're tough to miss and show up on your map as blue posters. Since you only need 1/5 of the total posters for the trophy, you should be able to get it just by randomly tearing down whichever ones you come across and no real guide should be needed.

Caretaker Of Memory
Find 10 Lost Letters (Campaign only)

Same as the other collectibles, buy the maps and collect half of the letters, there being 20 of them. Buy the maps as soon as you can then just pick any up that you come across and you will have this trophy in no time. Letters are usually in caves and are marked on the map by blue envelopes.

Right Tributes
Spin 10 Mani Wheels (Campaign only).

Mani Wheels are in little shrines that usually are scattered with dead bodies. Buy the maps for the collectibles and then proceed to collect a small portion of the total for the trophy.

The Rarest Game
Complete 3 Kyrat Fashion Week quests (Campaign only).

Fashion Week missions show up on your radar after liberating outposts and clearing bell towers. They have you hunt a rare animal and bring back their skin using a specific weapon each time. These missions are easy and take 2-4 minutes a piece, 3 of them is no hassle.

Well Read
Read 10 notes (Campaign only).

Notes are one-sheeted pieces of paper that appear in many, many locations that are of interest. All you need to do is hold when you see a sheet of paper to read the note, 10 times. This will come quickly if you're conscious about it.

Quick Learner
Learn 10 skills (Campaign only).

See Fully Loaded for more details.

Fully Loaded
Learn all skills (Campaign only).

This is the big trophy of the game, getting every skill. Not only will you have to buy each skill with skill points, you also have to unlock most of them through various means. There are two skill trees in Far Cry 4, the Tiger and the Elephant. The Tiger is for offensive skills, such as chain takedowns and heavy takedowns. The Elephant tree is for defensive, hunting/misc. things like elephant riding.

To unlock every skill you'll need to do the following:
  • Complete the story missions
  • Complete Pagan's Wrath missions, various other randomly spawning events
  • Complete side missions like Kyrat Fashion Week
  • Buy a Ghale Homestead Upgrade
  • Buy a Signature Weapon
  • Reach Karma Level 2+

Now once they're unlocked, you have to actually buy them with skill points. To get skill points you need to earn various amounts of XP that you get from kills, missions, etc. Once you fill the bar you get one point. Some skills cost upwards of 4 skill points to unlock so some grinding may be a factor for you.

Tricked Out
Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment (Campaign only).

Equipment upgrades come from using the skin of animals that you have killed and skinned. Killing animals with fire and explosives will make the skins useless, so using knives and bow and arrows to hunt, getting clean kills, gets you double the skins. Securing Bell Towers allows you to see all the animal types in a given area so if you're gonna be hunting, you want to get these. Craft any five of these for the trophy.
Upgrade 1 Upgrade 2 Upgrade 3 Upgrade 4
Weapon Holster 3x Tibetan Wolf 3x Malayan Tapir 3x Honey Badger N/A
Wallet 2x Bharal 3 Assasm Macaque 4x Asian Rhino Mad Devil
Loot Bag 3x Sambar 3x Pig 4x Demon Fish Ghost Bear
Syringe Kit 2x Wild Boar 3x Tibetan Wolf 4x Malayan Tapir Sky Tiger
Bait Bag 2x Dhole 3x Yak 5x Bear Gule
Ammo Bag 2x Wild Boar 3x Bharal 4x Clouded Leopard Shadow Leopard
Throwables Bag 2x Yak 3x Dhole 5x Bengal Tiger Black Water Dragon
Explosives Bag 2x Asian Rhino 3x Snow Leopard 5x Sambar Thick Skin
Heavy Ammo Bag 2x Bengal Tiger 3x Bear 4x Snow Leopard Kardagann
Quiver Pig Skin 3x Clouded Leopard 4x Honey Badger Tenzin

Dr. Feelgood
Craft 15 syringes (Campaign only).

To craft syringes you first need to unlock the recipes (Yogi and Reggie missions and skill points) and pick up some plants for the syringes. To craft syringes, go into your weapon wheel area and press to bring up the syringe menu. Scroll over to one and press to craft it, assuming you have the ingredients. Just make sure you pick up every plant you come across and craft as many syringes if you can if you are having troubles with this.

Make It Rain
Spend 500,000 rupees total at Trading Posts (Campaign only).

This is cumulative and should come naturally, if you want new guns, ammo, attachments and maps. 500,000 rupees isn't that much and it's not like you're gonna use them for anything else so you should get this without even noticing.

Buy all attachments and paint schemes for a single weapon (Campaign only).

Since you should have an abundance of rupees at the end of the game, if you don't have it by then you should do it as there's nothing else to spend your rupees on. All you have to do is buy every single attachment and paint job for a single weapon. If a weapon doesn't have an attachment for a thing, let's say the barrel has nothing for it, you can buy everything else and still unlock the trophy.

Kill 30 enemies with an elephant (Campaign only).

First, to ride an elephant you need to unlock the Elephant Rider skill from the Elephant tree. Then, find an elephant (they're usually near large outposts, just waiting for you to rack up the kills). When you get on one of these badass things, you can use to run and to bash people and even cars into the air. Now I'm not sure if the kills have to read "Elephant Kill" on them or if a regular kill on an elephant (such as flipping a car over to kill someone) counts toward the total, but I think any kill on top of an elephant without using a gun should count.

Quad Kill
Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with a single explosion (Campaign only).

If you're like me, you'll be getting mad at the vast amounts of Multikill x3 you're seeing. I must've gotten x3 10 times. Later on in the game you'll be on a mission to destroy the King Bridge, in A Key in the North, with a fuel truck. Once you do that and clear out the base, loads of enemies will make their way to your position. One group will be in a truck, four of them in one. Press to get your C4 out, throw it on the truck and detonate it to get a Quad Kill. Now this can be done on any truck with four people in it but this mission was the first I'd seen it.

Distract 15 enemies with rocks (Campaign only).

To throw a rock, press . Now usually you'll want to use rocks to lure guards away from a target place so you can sneak past while they investigate the rock sound. Players that played FC3 will be accustomed to this already (there was the exact trophy in FC3), but to distract the guard must go and investigate, then go BACK to his original spot. You have a lot of opportunities to do this during the main quest line and you can even farm it in the outpost liberations. At this time I'm unsure if you can use the same guard over and over for the trophy, as you could in FC3.

Tag 25 enemies using the camera (Campaign only).

Press to enter the camera and hover over enemies to tag them. Do this at every outpost and you'll have this quickly. Honestly, just press and hover over 25 enemies for a trophy.

Reign Of Death
Kill 30 enemies with Mortar rounds (Campaign only).

Mortars are usually in outposts and are really, really great at taking out large chunks of enemies with an incredible satisfaction that I just love them. Every time an outpost goes sour, look for a mortar setup (they're indicated on the map as well) and use it to blow your enemies to bits. Getting 30 kills will come fast as you can get 5-10 kills with one well placed shot.

From A Distance
Kill a target from 60m or more with an arrow or bolt (Campaign only).

This trophy seems a little sketchy, I managed to unlock it from a rather close kill. If you are struggling, get the Recurve Bow from the store, buy the sight that increases range and head to an unliberated outpost. When you get there, mark the outpost on your map to see how far you are from it and find a guard to kill. Now just use the lines on the scope to line up with a guard and let it fly. This will undoubtedly take a few tries but this is the easiest way to get it.

This trophy is easier to do with the exploding arrow bolts, as you can fire the bolt near an enemy that's far away and the explosion can kill them and still count for this trophy. Thanks lurch9944 for this tip.

Two Birds
Using a sniper rifle, kill 2 targets with a single shot (Campaign only).

This is pretty doable in any outpost, really. Often times there will be two guards standing in one spot and chatting like teenage girls just waiting for you to line up a shot. Line it up and boom, trophy.

The Sky Is Falling
Perform a takedown from a Buzzer (Campaign only).

This means you need to fly a buzzer next to an enemy vehicle and perform a takedown. First step would be to unlock the Vehicle Takedown skill in the Tiger tree, then find a buzzer. Buzzers are usually in captured outposts and show up on your map so some looking will be needed but easy. Once you have one, fly around and find an enemy vehicle. Drop low so that you can see the driver, then hit for the trophy.

Flame On!
Kill 50 enemies with fire (Campaign only).

First you'll want to get the Flamethrower from the store, then go to an outpost that's yet to be liberated or replay a liberation or really just any mission that involves killing lots of dudes. Then just use the flamethrower to kill 50 of them. You'll probably get a lot of these kills from the one story mission that has you burning fields (though that is a choice mission and not everyone will get this chance).

Kill 25 enemies while shooting and driving (Campaign only).

A new feature they have in Far Cry 4 is autodrive. Pressing will put the car in autodrive, making it drive to your target destination. This is so you can use your guns while the car is moving, it makes this trophy a lot easier. Whenever you're driving the roads and spot someone, stop the car and shoot them from within the car so you won't have to farm this much later on. You can also pull up to an outpost in a car and gun 'em down that way, though a side arm for an outpost is not recommended. Most of these kills you should get out in the wild.

The Good Fight
Reach Karma Level 2, and purchase any Guns For Hire upgrade (Campaign only).

Karma is a new sort of point system that they've added to Far Cry 4. You get Karma for helping the Golden Path as well as hunting animals in a good, respectable way. Here's how to earn karma:
  • Skirmishes: A random event indicated by the purple diamond on your map, skirmishes have groups of your allies fighting off the Royal Army thugs. Help them to receive 150 Karma Points
  • Assassinations: You'll be given an objective to kill a warlord and loot his body. Doing so will earn you 150 Karma Points. Also indicated by a purple diamond on your map.
  • Clean-killing Animals (knife or bow)
  • Killing civilians takes away 25 KP
Once you have done enough of these to reach level two, go to a trading post (location in most/every outpost/fast travel station) and on the Items page, select any Guns for Hire upgrade, you can choose between an extra token or an upgrade to the rebels it sends. Guns for Hire gives you help when you need it, by using the camera with and selecting Guns for Hire.

Like A Bird
Fly 5000m total in the Wingsuit (Campaign only).

You can buy a wingsuit from trading posts for 25,000 Rupees or find them in the world. Once you have one, you have one. It can't be taken away unless through the story. To use a wingsuit, jump from a high place and press to start gliding. You need a total of 5000m, so you're gonna have to be in the air a bit. I wouldn't try grinding this trophy out though as a story mission about halfway through the game has you gliding for about 1000m. This trophy is cumulative and since the wingsuit is a great mode of transportation you should have this in no time.

Run over 25 people (Campaign only).

Get in a truck and go run over some thugs. If you're trying to do this all at once, I recommend going to an outpost you haven't liberated yet or go to a liberated outpost and do the mission that lets you re-liberate it. There's almost always a vehicle nearby and a good 10 or so guards around it, especially if they call for reinforcements. Just run-em down for the trophy.

The People's Champ
Reach Arena Rank 5 (Campaign Arena only).

After doing the first Yogi and Reggie mission, you'll unlock the Shanath Arena. In the Arena you have three different modes to choose from: Battles, Endless and Weapon Challenges. All three will raise your arena rank through points/score within. The arena is just a survival mode, beat the waves and get as many points as possible. The crowd often throws helpful items to you such as:
  • Health Packs: Noticeable by their green smoke.
  • Grenades: Noticeable by their orange smoke.
  • Ammo: Noticeable by their purple smoke.
Collecting these will grant you a much easier time in the arena. Now to get points, you pretty much just need to get kills. A regular kill grans 10 points, while headshots grant 25. That means you always want to be aiming for the face, if you don't want to grind to Rank 5 too much. Getting to rank 5 will take around 3-5 Battle matches, so it's not that long.

Renaissance Man
Finish a public match of each game type in the Battles of Kyrat game mode (Battles of Kyrat only).

There are only Three Game Modes in Battles of Kyrat. These game modes are:
  • Outpost
  • Demon Mask
  • Propaganda
All you have to do is play one of each of the game modes for the trophy. It does not matter if you enter the game at its second round, all you have to do is be present when the game ends.

Community Surprise
Play a Top Rated map in the Map Browser (Map Browser only).

From the main menu, go to the right to get into Multiplayer, scroll down and select Map Browser. From here just click on the Quick Play Top Pick option to be thrown into a top rated map created by a user. You don't have to finish the map/mission, just play it. If you die and fail the trophy will still unlock.
