[top]Tips and Strategies

Most of these trophies can be attempted at any stage of a playthrough. Two, however, require certain conditions be met, and can be missed. Please see the relevant descriptions for more information.

Note: you will need at least 2 controllers (DS4s), or a controller and a Vita, to earn Greatest Tag-Team in History . Alternatively, it may be possible to earn it using the PlayStation 4's Share-play functionality (unconfirmed).

The Teacher Remains the Teacher
Defeat Javier Jaguar as Uay Chivo in an un-nerfed one-on-one rematch.

When you defeat Javier Jaguar for the first time, he collapses on the ground, and will remain there permanently. If you walk up to him and hit him, you can have a rematch.

To earn this trophy, visit an Altar and select the Uay Chivo costume. With it equipped, travel to Sierra Morena via the Olmec Head, and return to the area where you fought Javier. Simply start a rematch and beat him again (he's a lot easier this time, especially with the unlimited stamina perk that comes with the costume) to unlock this trophy.

Greatest Tag-Team in History
Defeat both Lightning Skeleton arenas in The Great Temple on Hard Mode, with 2 or more players (or as Javier Jaguar)

As you make your way through The Great Temple, you'll encounter two arenas in which you'll fight Lightning Skeletons (those yellow bastards that fly and zap you). To earn this trophy, you must beat both of these arenas while playing with 2 players, or while using the Javier Jaguar costume.

The easiest way to make sure you get this is to equip the Javier costume as soon as you reach The Great Temple - that way you can't miss the arenas.

If you miss one or both of the arenas, you will need to start a whole extra playthrough!

Minuto de Silencio
Mourn the loss of the Alebrije while playing as X’Tabay.

Visit an altar and select the X'Tabay costume. Using an Olmec head, travel to the Temple of Rain, and climb all the way to the top (back to where you ran away from the Alebrije). When you reach the lava pit that you dropped the beast into, you'll find its skull sitting on the ground, with the option to press to 'mourn' its passing. Follow the prompt to view a short cutscene and earn this trophy.

Money to Burn
Snatch, grab and collect 5,000 pesos as Flame Face.

Pretty straight-forward: Collect 5,000 pesos (by defeating enemies and opening chests) while wearing the Flame Face costume, which you can equip at any altar. The costume itself is great because, in addition to increasing the amount of pesos you earn from all sources, it also has life-steal. Playing through the game regularly while wearing the costume should earn you this trophy in under an hour.

If you're attempting this on a completed save file, it's still possible, but will take longer (as there are fewer enemies). Try farming in later stages of the game, or in the combat Infierno challenges.

Dream Team
Defeat an arena with at least 2 players

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition has drop-in/drop-out local co-op functionality, allowing 2-4 players to play through the full game together (there is no online multiplayer).

To earn this trophy, you must complete any arena with at least 2 players. This requires at least two controllers (DS4s), or a single controller with a PS Vita. Alternatively, it may be possible to earn this trophy using Share-play, though I've not been able to confirm this (if you find out, let me know!).

Simply play with a buddy until you encounter an arena, then beat it together to earn this trophy. If you don't have a friend, play solo until you encounter an arena, then press on your second controller to add a second 'player', then clear the arena yourself.
