[top]Tips & Strategies

Not a lot to really say here as the game isn't overly difficult, even on Hard.

Remember to use OWL, it will help you in all situations. Whether it be with it's shield, it's attack or Stun.
Keep an eye on your ammo, I found myself occasionally running out of ammo and having to pick up guns that I didn't like. So just be weary of that.

The Adrenaline Packs should mainly be used as a "Second Chance", so if you die, the OWL can revive you. You can use them whenever you like, just make sure you save one of them.

If you can, try and disable the Alarms when you see them. If an enemy manages to reach them, they'll get reinforcements sent in, until you disable it.

Keep an eye on your environment. There's a lot of things that can make killing your enemies a little bit easier. Whether it be a gas canister, or shooting out a window pane and letting the sun scorch the enemy.

Remember that there's Chapter Select and Section Select within that Chapter. So don't worry too much about missing Intel etc, as you can jump to the area quite easily.

Most of all, just have fun!

[top]Roadmap

1.First Playthrough - Playthrough on Easy/Medium and shoot for the collectibles (Gatherer and The Knowledge ) as well as the misc trophies (Deniable , New Shadow , Violence is the Answer? , Outsmarted, Outmanoeuvred , Conscientious Killer , Outgunned , Shadows Cannot Be Killed ). Just enjoy the game and learning its mechanics.

2. Second Playthrough - This time through play on hard and go for the gold (Elite Shadow Marshall ). This game has quite a few frustrating situations where you seem to be in endless loops of enemies especially towards the end of the game. Luckily the game is somewhat friendly with checkpoints so just try to keep calm and soon enough the trophy will pop.

3. Online Trophies - This will consume a large portion of your time while pursuing this platinum. There are not many online trophies with any sort of shortcut, so be prepared for a lot of grinding.
These trophies are; (Tourist , Scout , Support , Assault , Dominator , On Your Way , Decorated , Multiplayer Elite , Million Points , Jack Of All Trades , Weapons Specialist )
I would advise you just play for fun for a while without looking at your total points, challenges, or accolades or you will begin to feel as if you will never get there! Perseverance!

4. Celebrate

Deniable
In 'The Shadow', operate without raising an alarm or disabling the security mainframe

This is bit of a tricky trophy. It will require you to manoeuvre around a number of enemies and will be one of your first big tests of patience in the game.
I would advise you to work around the outside first, rather than just diving for the middle of this area. Take your time and focus on disabling the alarms and killing the small groups of enemies at one location, before proceeding on to the next. If you take your time and endure some growing pains this trophy will be yours soon enough.

You can also comeback to this in Chapter Select.

Note: The Security Mainframe is the Optional Objective. So make sure you don't accidentally hack this.

New Shadow
In 'The Savior', complete the mission without being spotted

Initially this trophy seems rather hard, but it's actually rather easy if you take it slow and pay attention to your surroundings.

I would suggest playing through the level a few times and getting Violence is the Answer? first.

You can be spotted by cameras, enemies and civilians. If you are spotted, then simply restart the checkpoint.
The civilians are easy to avoid and have quite a small detection zone, though there are quite a few of them. They also don't seem to have a set path.
The soldiers have a bigger detection zone, but have set routes.
The Security Cameras are easy to avoid, just don't get in the orange detection area.

The hardest part about this final area is the civilians in my opinion. The soldiers are somewhat predictable and easily avoidable but the civilians will cause a headache if you don't take your time.

It's best to not kill anyone once you're outside, as it causes more trouble than it's worth. Inside though, it's not a problem. You can also shoot someone that's in the security camera's view and still get the trophy.
Once you have the first three objectives, just head down and enjoy the final scene of the game!

Violence is the answer?
In 'The Savior', kill 20 soldiers and still complete the mission

If you like being stealthy you will not enjoy this trophy, because at some point or another, you're going to have to go all 'Rambo'.

After the New Shadow trophy, this one will be a lot less stressful.
You need to kill 20 enemies and still complete the game. So you still needed to deactivate both consoles, grab the sniper and take the shot.
Once you're spotted, you'll have 3 minutes to do this all in.

Thankfully, you can get 5 kills easily before even entering the outside area.

If you can, try and get as many stealth kills as possible. Depending on your skill level and/or luck, you can get a vast amount of these kills by sneaking around but eventually you're just going to probably find yourself shooting everything that moves.
(DISCLAIMER: This could affect your Conscientious Killer trophy [See Below])

Once spotted, they'll put up turrets, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem if you play on Easy.
Just remember to get the Objectives out the way first, then go on your enemy hunting mission, giving plenty of time to get to the kill point and take the final shot.

  1. Shadow Fall

[top]
Outsmarted
In singleplayer, get a quadruple kill with a single Frag Grenade

There are a number of areas throughout the game to get this trophy. One of which is on the final level during your Violence is the Answer? trophy. Try to get soldiers to a bottle neck point, such as through the bushes to the underground area. Once you get a couple to follow you to a point where they are close enough together, just let a grenade fly and hope the trophy pops!

Another option is to start the last section of Chapter 2. Run straight up to the top of the building, then when the dropships come to drop enemies off, throw a grenade into the ship. Hopefully you'll see four enemies fall out as the trophy appears.

[top]
Outgunned
In singleplayer, kill 6 Helghast with headshots within a single adrenaline rush

This is one of the more annoying trophies to get. You need to headshot six enemies, with one Adrenaline Pack.
You'll find these packs relatively frequently throughout the game. Press 'left' on the D-Pad to activate one of them. This will put you in to a 'slow motion' mode.

The problem with this trophy is that it's quite hard to get six enemies together, with enough time to headshot six of them without the Adrenaline Pack wearing off.

Probably the easiest place to do this is Chapter 9, Section 5 (The Destroyer > The Weak Perish).
Clear the first room with four enemies in it. Then go through the door that's slightly ajar. Kill all of the enemies on the way to the far left door. Six enemies should all burst through the door at once. You may have to kill more enemies currently in the room, to trigger this sequence.

Make sure you've got the OWL's Stun Ability (swipe left on the touchpad), and press to stun all the enemies. Now quickly activate your Adrenaline Pack and aim for the six headshots.
If you fail, then simply restart the Section.

Outmaneuvered
In singleplayer, kill 5 Helghast with gunfire while ziplining

Killing 5 enemies whilst zip-lining is relatively simple.
Use your OWL to Zip-line, by swiping the touchpad right to bring up the option, then to aim at a destination.
Whilst sliding down, hip-fire your weapon to kill the enemy.
There are multiple points in the game where this is possible. So if you miss an enemy then don't worry. Just carry on as normal, or run back and zip-line down again. This can also be done over multiple playthroughs.

A good opportunity for this would be Chapter 2, as it's a very open area with a fair amount of enemies and high points.

Note: If you restart a checkpoint, you'll lose your progress.

Elite Shadow Marshal
Complete all missions on Hard difficulty

Hard on this game isn't all that taxing. So doing Hard straight off isn't going to be too much of a problem if you'd rather get this trophy done first.
As with most FPS games, use the cover to your advantage and don't rush head first into the unknown.

Use your Scan Ability to see what and who is around you, so you can best judge how to attack the area. Not only will it pick up enemies hiding, but will show you Adrenaline Packs which are usually by ammunition and will also show you Vents that you can escape through.

Never forget about OWL. This little robot will go a long way in making sure you reach the end of the game.
The OWL's Stun, Attack and Shield Ability are there for a reason... Use them!
  • The Stun move will remove enemies shields, which is incredibly useful later on in the game. It will also stun the enemies and bring them out from their cover positions.
  • The Attack option isn't too powerful, but it will distract the enemies, giving you a few seconds to get some easy shots in, or to recover some life.
  • The Shield is overpowered, so you can safely set that up and fire away from the comfort of your own home.
I personally used the Adrenaline Packs as a "Second Chance" option. So if I died, the OWL can use the packs to revive you, saving you a trip back from the Checkpoint. You also get a power-boost when revived. If you're going to use them at other times, make sure you use them wisely.

[top]
Conscientious Killer
Complete the campaign on any difficulty without shooting any civilians

For this trophy, you need to make it through the whole game without killing any civilians.
This should be an easy trophy... unless you go round purposely killing civilians.
If you complete the game and don't receive the trophy, then chances are you accidentally killed a civvie in Chapter 5.
So jump in to the Chapter Select at the main menu and start from the beginning of this chapter.
If you still don't get the trophy, then run through the game on Easy and take care with where you're aiming and limit the amount of grenades that you use.

[top]
Shadows Cannot Be Killed
Complete the campaign on any difficulty without dying

No doubt you'll die during your first playthrough. So getting through the whole game without dying once, might seem a bit daunting.

Thankfully though, this can be done on any difficulty. The game is extra nice, as it doesn't even have to be in one playthrough.
Simply go to Chapter Select in the menu, and you can scroll through each chapter and each section of the chapter. Here you'll be given the number of times you've died. So just go on to that section and complete it without dying. Easy.

Note: You can quickly Pause the game just before you're about to die, and restart the checkpoint.

Gatherer

See The Knowledge below.

The Knowledge
Find all collectibles in the campaign

The game has a total of 98 collectables scattered through chapters 2-10. There are no Collectables in the Opening Chapter.
To determine what collectables you are missing, you can go to Chapter Select and by each Section in each Chapter, it will list how many you have collected and how many there are available on that level.

Note: The collectables in the "Text" may be listed in a slightly different order to the "Video", as a few can be collected at a slightly different point.

This can be tracked from the home screen the Multiplayer Tab. It will be on the left side below where your username is shown.

[top]
Weapons Specialist
Unlock all attachments for all weapons

Similar to most of FPS game you need to get X amount of kills, head shots, cover kills, etc to unlock other attachments.
The way I approached this was to start with the first gun. Get 10 kills with it to unlock the next scope. I then switch to new scope and got 10-15 kills whatever was required to unlock the next scope and proceeded through all of the guns in that manner.

You will want to briefly skim through the various requirements for each attachment to make sure you are on track to getting a new attachment and not grinding away for something you have already unlocked.
For a while I would just play as normal and hopefully you will get the shield kills, drone buddy kills, etc. but towards the end of your campaign for 1,000,000 points you will need to start heavily focusing on cleaning up those last attachments.

[top]
Decorated
Earn a total of 500 accolades

A great deal of these are generic (Capture One Beacon or Win One Team Deathmatch on Each Map) and those easy ones will add up quickly as you are playing through the different guns for each attachment unlock. Another chunk of these will come easily to you as you are trying to upgrade all scout, support and assault abilities. This may require some extra grinding beyond that but not much.

Accolades are based on how you fared during each individual multiplayer game you play.

This can be tracked under 'My Career' -> Challenges -> Online Play -> Total Accolades.
