Play by Yourself
By default, NFS Rivals matches you with random players near your level. If your playing experience is affected by having random players around then change your Matchmaking Settings. Press then to pull up the All Drive menu. Then select All Drive Settings and change the Matchmaking Settings to Friends Game, Private Game, or Single Player.

Don't Get Busted!
There are many ways to earn Speed Points (SP) in Redview County. But you only get to keep them if you bank them at a Hideout. If you happen to wreck your car or get busted by the cops, you will lose ALL of the SP you racked up in that session! If things are getting too hot to handle, use the EasyDrive Menu to set your GPS to the nearest Hideout or Repair Shop.

Need for Speed Network
The Need for Speed Network connects you to the world of Need for Speed Rivals when you are away from your console. It is available for Android, iOS, and on PC at www.needforspeed.com/network. Sign in with your Origin account once you have downloaded the app or entered the website. Within the Network is a function called Overwatch. It allows you to target players who are currently driving around Redview County and either help or hinder them. For example, you can repair their car instantly, or you can damage it. Whenever you commit one of these actions, you earn xp. Earning xp will level you up (Overwatch rank is separate from your Racer and Cop ranks) and unlock Autolog missions that can be completed in-game. Once you complete these missions, you are awarded with exclusive items such as liveries and cars. This is not required for the Platinum but some may find that it enhances the experience.

Want this platinum even faster? Buy the Need for Speed Rivals Timesaver Pack for $9.99
Purchase the Time Savers Pack to instantly own every Modification and Upgrade whenever you unlock or buy new cars in Need for Speed Rivals. Performance upgrades?...your car is already modified with the best of everything for instant maximum performance. Pursuit Tech? Everything you can possibly use is ready to equip. And when you want to personalize your car, you'll find every Livery, Decal and Color option instantly available to choose from.

Gold Master
Earn 100 Gold medals across both factions

There are 68 racer events and 68 cop events throughout this game. You need to earn a Gold medal in 100 of these events. These events will slowly unlock as you level up. In order to play an event, go to one of the many event symbols on your map and press at the starting line (you can also spawn at an event from your garage by pressing on an event's map symbol). If you manage to earn a medal in that event, the symbol will change color (Gold, Silver, or Bronze). If you want to keep track of how many Gold medals you have earned press and then press to reach the Alldrive Menu. From here, select Driver Details. Press while in the Driver Details menu to switch your stats between racer and cop.

Racer Events
Races
You must beat all other racers to the finish line. Easy races have three opponents, medium have four opponents, and hard have five opponents. Cops may try to interrupt your race. I typically used Shockwave/ESF as my two pursuit tech. Shockwave can hit multiple opponents at once and send them crashing into walls. ESF can be offensive as well as shield your car from EMPs. You can also use Turbo if you feel it necessary.

Time Trial
You need to cross the finish line within a certain amount of time to Gold this event. Try not to crash into walls or pedestrian vehicles as they can really slow you down. Cops may start to pursue you so it's a good idea to have ESF equipped to shield yourself from their EMPs. Turbo can also help you shave a few seconds off of your time but be careful where you use it. Turbo is most effectively used on long straights because your ability to turn is practically nonexistent while you are under its effects.

Hot Pursuit
Identical to Races, but with the addition of cops on pursuit from the beginning. They will be coming after all of you and will continue to spawn in front for the duration of the race. Again, Shockwave/ESF proves to be a very good combo for this event.

Interceptor
You must escape the cops within a certain amount of time to Gold this event. It may prove easier just to wreck the cop pursuing you, and for that have Shockwave/ESF pursuit tech equipped. Or if you want to escape, try using ESF/Turbo. At the start of the race, hit the cop with ESF and then immediately do a 180° turn and hit Turbo to make a quick getaway.

Cop Events
Rapid Response
This is the cop version of Time Trial, with the added rule that you are penalized every time you destroy public property or endanger the welfare of civilians. That means you can't hit any walls or pedestrian cars. While speed does factor into this, your top priority should be completing the event without hitting anything because the penalty for doing so can be steep. None of the pursuit tech available to cops is useful for this event so don't even worry about them.

Hot Pursuit
You are now the cop who is tasked with hunting down racers. You must bust all racers before they cross the finish line for the Gold medal. There are three racers in Easy events, four racers in Medium events, and five racers in Hard events. Please see Bust 50 for tips on busting racers.

Interceptor
You need to bring down one racer within the time limit. If you lose sight of the target, you fail the event. The Heat of the racer will depend on the difficulty of the event. Please see Bust 50 for tips on busting racers.

First National
Bank your first score

Your first score will come when you complete the tutorial for either Racer or Cop. Choose a side and complete the objectives.

Racer Objectives
Complete any Race
Escape a Pursuit
Complete a Head to Head
Earn 5,000 SP

Cop Objectives
Complete any Rapid Response
Start a Pursuit with a Racer
Bust a Racer
Earn 5,000 SP in a Single Session

Once all of the objectives are complete, you will be instructed to enter a Hideout or Command Post. Press to Bank your score when the option appears on your screen and the trophy will pop once you do so.

Now you need to play the tutorial for the other side before you are let loose in Redview County.

10 Heat
Reach Heat 10

Heat is essentially a measure of how wanted you are by the cops. The lowest Heat rank is 1 and the highest Heat rank is 10. Your Heat will rise by completing events, driving recklessly, and engaging in cop chases. Your starting Heat also depends on which car you are using. The more powerful and expensive your car, the higher your Heat. Your Heat will reset every time you return to the garage, whether it be by entering a Hideout, getting busted by the cops, or getting wrecked by other racers.

This trophy requires you to attain the highest Heat rank. At Heat 10, the cops will relentlessly pursue you. They will constantly bombard you with pursuit tech, attempt to cut you off with roadblocks, and send out helicopters to drop spike strips in front of your car. This trophy should come naturally on your way to completing the racer career, but in case it does not, here are some suggestions.

The least painful way to obtain this trophy is to go for it while playing the tutorial. There is not a single cop on the road and it can be done in 15 minutes. Complete the tutorial's objectives but DO NOT enter the Hideout. Instead, drive around and challenge NPC racers to Head to Head races until you achieve Heat 10. I managed to reach Heat 6 once I had completed the tutorial's objectives and only needed to do several more Head to Heads in order to reach Heat 10.

If you have progressed past the tutorial and pretty far in the career without getting this trophy then give this method a try. Once you have beaten all chapters, go back and replay Chapter 6 - Wolf's Clothing. In this chapter, you are put behind the wheel of a Koenigsegg Agera R. It has incredible stats and is equipped with fully upgraded Shock Ram and Spike Strip tech. It also starts off at Heat 6. Go out into Redview County and wreck cops, wreck racers, and complete some events until you reach Heat 10. The Koenigsegg is a killing machine, but it is not invincible! Be sure to stay near a repair shop for when you need it.

Refer to Bigger Points for a third way to obtain Heat 10.

[top]
Multiplier
Hit a X 10 Multiplier

Every time you enter Redview County your multiplier starts off at x1 and maxes out at x10. Multiplier increases for doing practically everything that awards you SP (jumps, drifts, near misses, pursuit tech hits, slams, T-bones, escaping, winning events, etc.) Your multiplier multiplies whatever SP amount you earn. For example, you drift around a corner and are awarded 66 SP. If you have a multiplier of x4, then you earn 264 SP for doing that action. Your multiplier is displayed towards the top of your screen, right under your Heat and SP displays. The segmented ring around your multiplier level shows your progress towards the next level.

Your multiplier level conveniently rises at almost the same rate as your Heat so it is very possible to unlock both of these trophies at the same time. Refer to 10 Heat and Bigger Points for three ways to obtain this trophy. *Note* Your multiplier always starts at x1 while your starting Heat depends on which vehicle you are driving, so you may find yourself at Heat 10 for a few minutes while you build up your multiplier to x10 if you are using a high tier car.

Bigger Points
Bank 500,000 in one go

Banking 500,000 SP could prove very difficult and time-consuming, but if you use the following method you could have this trophy in about five minutes.

Step 1 - switch to the racer career and choose your vehicle. Choosing a car with good durability and strength will make this easier. I chose a fully upgraded Enzo Ferrari.

Step 2 - equip your car with Level 4 pursuit tech, preferably two damage-dealing ones (you will be going up against a lone cop). I equipped my Ferrari with Shockwave and ESF.

Step 3 - start at [HARD] Play For Real. It is an Interceptor event at the southern end of the map, west of Dead Tree Canyon. Play the event and defeat the lone cop. KEEP THE FIGHT OFF THE MAIN ROAD. This will prevent other cops from joining in on the action. This cop might call in a helicopter and that's okay, just avoid any spike strips it may drop.

Step 4 - It shouldn't take more than 45 seconds to take out the cop. Now drive back to the event and do it again. If you need to repair your car there is a shop just down the road and then return to the event. You will need to complete this event four or five times before you have over 500,000 SP and once you have it, hurry to the hideout down the road. The trophy will pop once you have safely made it inside your garage.

In case you haven't earned
10 Heat or Multiplier you will most certainly earn them while going for this trophy as a racer.

Below in the spoiler is a video I created using my PS4's video recorder. It illustrates how I performed the above method. I managed to bank over 650,000 SP in one go.

Toggle Spoiler

You can also obtain this trophy as a cop. It will take longer for you to reach 500,000 SP but it is also safer. Before you enter Redview County, record your current SP amount and add 500,000 to it. Now start your session and do not wreck your car or enter a Command Post until you have reached that number. The SP counter in-session shows your total amount of SP and not the amount you have gained in the current session. That is why you need to do it manually.

[top]
8 Buster
Bust a Racer at Heat 8 or greater

A racer's Heat is always displayed above their car, next to their health bar. In order to obtain this trophy you need to bust a racer that is at Heat 8 or above. By default, racers will have a heat between 1 and 5. It will increase while they are being pursued by the cops.

You will very likely manage to obtain this trophy by playing the game normally. In case you don't, however, the final cop assignment is to complete the Interceptor event [HARD] Zero Hour, which puts you in pursuit of a racer with Heat 10. Once you bust this racer, or any racer above Heat 8, the trophy will pop.

Bust 10 Racers in a Mustang

Once you obtain Rank 5 you will have access to the Ford Shelby GT500 cop car. Select any variant (Patrol, Enforcer {ENF}, or Undercover {UC}) and equip it with Pursuit Tech.

Now go into Redview County and bust any 10 racers. The quickest way to accomplish this is to play a few Hot Pursuit events. Any one event will have 3-5 racers for you to bust depending on the difficulty of the event. Once you have busted your 10th racer the trophy will pop.

[top]
Bust 50
Bust 50 Racers

Playing through the cop career means you will bust many racers. You will have no problem racking up 50 busts because busting racers is the staple of Hot Pursuit and Interceptor events and there are dozens of racers driving around Redview County at any one time. In order for a bust to count towards this trophy, you must get the killing blow on the racer. You will know if you did when "Racer Busted" appears near the top of your screen and your are awarded SP.

Pursuit Tech Tips
Using the right pursuit tech in the right situations will make busting racers much easier. If you are pursuing a lone racer for an Interceptor event, then I suggest using an EMP + ESF combination. Lock on with an EMP to slow the racer down and then activate ESF and ram into the racer for massive damage. Most Interceptor events shouldn't take you more than a minute if you use this combo.
Hot Pursuits involve multiple racers and there are a few ways you can approach them. EMP + ESF works well but might not be enough on some of the harder events where you are tasked with busting five racers. For events that spend time on enclosed roads such as the highway (an example is the beginning of [MED] Clean Shot), the Roadblock can be very effective. Pair it with ESF or Shock Ram. But if the roads become so narrow that you are also being hit by your own Roadblock, or are so open that racers have a very easy time avoiding your Roadblocks, then use your Nitrous to race past them and lay down Spike Strips. Then hit them with Shockwave or ESF as they try to pass you.

Leveling up is simple - you gain one rank for every speedlist you complete. A speedlist contains a combination of objectives that you must fulfill, and then return to any hideout to complete that speedlist and rank up. These objectives can be done in any order and most carry through multiple sessions (you won't lose progress if you happen to wreck your car).

You are presented with three speedlists at a time. Choose one of the three to complete. If you would like to change your current speedlist, you may do so by selecting 'change speedlist' in the garage. Doing so will erase any progress you made to that speedlist. Once you complete a speedlist, you are presented with another trio of speedlists. At first, speedlists will have incredibly easy objectives that should take you 1-2 minutes to complete. The higher-level speedlists will contain up to five different objectives and could take 10-20 minutes to complete. Keep choosing and completing speedlists until you reach rank 20.

Objective Tips
  • Unless otherwise stated, objectives always stack. You can hit the same jump, ram the same racer, and Gold the same event repeatedly to fulfill an objective. You can also complete them between multiple sessions.
  • It can be hard to tell if you are slipstreaming or in oncoming traffic. Thankfully 'Slipstream' and 'Oncoming Traffic' notifications show up on your screen on top of your Nitrous gauge, so use them to help you get in the right position..
  • If you need to complete a particularly large jump, try Kingfisher Road. One jump can easily fetch 220+ yds. (Click here to view a pic of the specific jump)
  • Use these speedlist objectives to try and Gold new events. If the objective calls for a Bronze, try for the Gold anyway. If the objective wants a Gold medal from an [EASY] event, Gold a [HARD] one instead. Acquiring as many Golds as possible while you rank up will save you time in the long run.
  • The objectives in a speedlist usually have a common theme that connects them. You can work on a few objectives at a time if you know a particular location or event that fits the speedlist.
After hitting rank 20 and completing all chapters, you are granted access to the speedlists you did not choose the first time. Your goal now is to go back and complete all speedlists, and once you have accomplished that you will be Rank 60 and the trophy will pop.

Upgrade Master
Upgrade all Cop Pursuit Tech in one car to maximum level and equip both slots

This is a very simple trophy that can be done practically at any point in time as long as you have enough SP on hand to max out one cop car's pursuit tech. Here are two ways you can approach.

1. Start the cop career and pick one of the starter cars to fully upgrade. Since it is a low-level car it only has four pursuit tech types available, and each pursuit tech has only one level. Knock out a few assignments until you have more than 65,000 SP and then buy out all pursuit tech and equip two of them.

-or-

2. Play the cop career normally until you unlock the best tier of cars. Then, choose one of those cars you plan on sticking with and start upgrading its pursuit tech. The best cars have all six pursuit tech types available for purchase, and each type has four ranks. You will need 1,160,000 SP to max out a car.

A third (and easiest) option has come to light thanks to ChrisValentine. In Chapter 5: Go Rogue you are forced to use an Enzo Ferrari that has maxed out pursuit tech.

Ford GT - Rank 13

Ford Cop Cars
Ford Shelby GT500 - Rank 5
Ford Shelby GT500 {ENF} - Rank 5
Ford Shelby GT500 {UC} - Rank 5

To get this trophy, you simply need to select any Ford car from the garage and take it for a drive in Redview County. This can be split up between multiple sessions, cars and even between sides. The catch is YOU MUST ENTER A HIDEOUT OR COMMAND POST IN ORDER FOR YOUR TIME TO COUNT TOWARDS THE TROPHY. If you happen to wreck your Ford or get busted, the time spent driving will not count.

Alternatively, if you find yourself near the end of the game, or just hate Ford vehicles, you can select one of the Ford Shelby Cop car variants and idle for 50 minutes in Redview County (idling in a Ford Racer car leaves you vulnerable to getting busted by the cops) and then head to the nearest Command Post where the trophy will pop.

**Need for Speed Rivals is helping Ford celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang. As of December 16th, 2013, the 2015 Ford Mustang GT has been added to the list of Racer cars in a free title update. It is available at Rank 1 so you can get started on this trophy immediately!

Get 50 seconds of air time in any Ford car

Jump sites are located throughout Redview County. Their locations are hidden at first but they will be revealed on the map once you drive by them. There are 77 total jump sites. They will be marked on your map with this symbol:

To view all jumps that you have discovered, open up your world map and press until you reach the jump filter (it is the last one).

Select any Ford car from the garage and start doing jumps. Airtime will typically be 0.5 seconds to 2.0 seconds per jump, so you will need to jump quite a few times to get this trophy. You do not need to search for all of the jumps - repeating the same jump over and over will suffice. Kingfisher Road, located near the center of the map, is a long bridge under construction and is a very good spot to accrue airtime. Several jumps are located along both sides of the bridge and there is also a repair shop and hideout nearby.

Click here to view a pic of Kingfisher Road that shows where the jumps are located.

Once you accumulate 50 seconds of air time the trophy will pop.
