[top]Pro Tips

  • You can unlock infinite ammo!
  • Your progress can be saved via cracked mirrors that glimmer.
  • You can upgrade your skills at the lockboxes.
  • Break wooden objects to obtain memory tokens.
  • Use the plus directional pad to avoid being hit from your enemies.
  • If you perform an execution on an enemy in any manner you can not be hit.
  • The best location to earn memory tokens is during the final execution chamber. If you die you still keep your tokens so keep replaying it and upgrading your items from the shop without buying more inventory of each item until everything has been upgraded.
    • In addition to replaying the final execution chamber you can also do a speed run through the entire DLC when you unlock infinite ammo which should take around 40 minutes and you will earn 500 memory tokens if you complete the DLC with a final grade of S.

Unlike the previous Evil Within DLC it is not suggested to complete the 100% with the minimum amount of playthroughs. This is a safer roadmap and possibly even quicker than reloading checkpoints over and over if you were to take damage repeatedly.

Step One: Playthrough the DLC acquiring all the Daughter Diarys and completing as many of the Torments as possible along the way. During this step you should also enter the execution chambers to earn the specific weapon/environmental trophies.
Nosy Parent
Krimson Chainsaw Massacre
Trapper and Keeper
Got to Destroy the Brain
Home Invasion
The Craftsman's Tools

Step Two: Playthrough the DLC again on New Game plus so you have all your Torments and memory tokens carried over. Here you should focus on accumulating memory tokens and completing the final execution chamber.
Cruel and Unusual
You Had This Coming

Step Three: Playthrough once more on New game plus so you have all your items upgraded. Your main focus should be to get through the DLC without ever being dealt damage and finish upgrading your gear if you need to.

Nosy Parent
Collect all Daughter's Diaries in The Executioner.

There are 14 Daughter Diaries total found in The Executioner DLC. They are found relatively close to one another so if you're not using one of the guides below be sure to spam to use the memory scanner so you can find them all in one playthrough. If you missed one you can choose to play New Game Plus or play until you reached it even though you need to playthrough at least 2x. By choosing New Game all your collectibles and item upgrades will be gone!

Below is a written walkthrough in addition to a video with a visual representation if it helps you more. They are all color coordinated with their names so be sure to check this out before playing through the DLC.

Cruel and Unusual
Complete all Torments.

New to the game are Torments, challenges setup like a tutorial in a way to present different ways of attacking an enemy than just with the single hammer blow to the head. There are 18 Torments in total which can be found by pressing the options button and going into the archive. All, but three can be unlocked in your first playthrough since you won't unlock the sword until after you have defeated the Keeper and the final execution chamber doesn't unlock until you have gone through New game plus. By completing all 18 Torments you will unlock the Infinite Ammo item in the shop so it's a rewarding task to accomplish quickly.

Here I will list out all 18 Torments and a brief explanation of how to complete the task.

09. Incinerate an enemy caught by a Barbed Wire Trap with a Molotov Cocktail.
  • Place a Barbed Wire Trap down on the ground in the vicinity you're in and await for an enemy to get caught by the trap. Throw the Molotov onto them setting it on fire.
10. Blow up an enemy with the Rocket Launcher.
  • Purchase the Rocket Launcher after unlocking it from defeating the RPG Sadist and have it equipped. Shoot it at any enemy that is weak and they should blow up. Be sure to upgrade this RPG as it will be a big help getting you through the DLC without being dealt damage.
11. Slay an enemy with a turret.
  • The only location a turret can be found is outside during the Zhen boss battle. This is the second boss battle so it can be completed rather easy. There will be three turrets around the circular fountain that you can shoot the enemies with, however, if you shoot the turret you will need to reload it by tapping before you can use the same turret again.
12. Blow up an enemy with a flung car.
  • This can only be achieved while your boss battle in the garage. The boss (Amalgam Alpha) will hit the vehicles into your direction if there are any left and you have the ability to hit them back by hitting . You will need to get basic enemy in between you and the boss in order to blow up an enemy with a flung car. The cars are limited in this environment so if you fail to accomplish the task reload the auto-save or wait until your next playthrough.
13. Kill an enemy with a rotating blade trap.
  • Enter the second execution chamber to find both a rotating blade trap as well as some must needed enemies. Here you will want to wait next to the blade if you want to attempt at hitting them into the blade or you can stagger them until you can grab them with which you will then want to throw them into the blade.
14. Blow up an enemy with an exploding Haunted.
  • Refer to #15 please.
15. Blow up more than one enemy with an exploding Haunted.
  • The exploding Haunted enemies are the ones with the yellow/red blisters over their bodies. You cannot execute these enemies or they will not be able to turn into the cadavers. You will want to injure them until they get the red blisters where and fall onto the ground, again do not kill them, instead wait and they will transform into a cadaver and then chase you (sound) and blow up as it is next to you or within a short duration since they don't last until you kill them. For this Torment make sure you wait for a group of enemies to appear before hitting the exploding Haunted onto the ground turning it into the cadaver. Once you do run over to the other enemies hopefully you have them together already and take the damage from the enemy exploding on all of you.
  • Do this Torment from the execution chambers!
16. Dismember an enemy with the Sword.
  • After completing the DLC you will unlock the Sword, go into New Game Plus and equip your Sword after you purchase it from the shop and attack an enemy you come across.
17. Execute an enemy with the Sword.
  • Stagger an enemy, but injuring them and wait for the or identifiers to appear above their head. Equip your Sword and execute the enemy whether they are on the ground or standing up.
18. Complete the Final Execution Chamber.
  • Please refer to You Had This Coming for more information.

Purchase all items in the Shop.

There are 12 unique items that can be purchased from the item shop found near most of the save points and just before entering the final phase of each new area which is after the two bosses. Most of these items are unlocked by progressing through the campaign, but a couple require a special task to be completed before unlocking (see Golden Hammer and Infinite Ammo below). Although you can upgrade all the items you do not have to any of them fully upgraded to unlock the trophy. Unlock and purchase each of the 12 weapons to unlock the trophy. If you care to know how many memory tokens it would take to fully upgrade each item it will be 2960 without the purchase tokens.

Krimson Chainsaw Massacre
Kill 10 basic Haunted with the chainsaw.

You must first defeat the Sadist boss which will unlock the Chainsaw. Now you must go to any shop and purchase the chainsaw with your memory tokens (30). To switch your weapons use the D-Pad and by default the chainsaw will be one click to the right.

As you approach the basic enemies (not bosses) you just hold down the button until they have been sawed in half. It is ideal that you upgrade not only the damage it does, but also the fuel it holds so it can last much longer.

You could get this with normal gameplay, but if you're in a rush you can always enter an execution chamber as basic enemies always appear and you should be able to unlock this trophy by going into just a single chamber granted you have an upgraded chainsaw.

Trapper and Keeper
Kill 10 basic Haunted with environmental traps in The Executioner.

Kill 10 basic enemies (not bosses) with environmental traps such as the wall spikes or the rotating spikes. This can be done as soon as you fight against the Sadist. You can die and repeat the wall killing until you have unlocked the trophy, however, you will more than likely be using the throw as a strategy later on in the DLC.

To kill an enemy you will want to stagger them until the or appears over their head. Grab ahold of them by pressing one time and then find the trap you with to eliminate them in and press again to throw them. You can get lucky by running and pressing with your hammer to do a gut hit into a trap, but that can be utterly frustrating and time consuming.

The second execution chamber is a prime location to earn this trophy as you can also unlock the Torment for killing an enemy with the rotating spikes.

Got to Destroy the Brain
Use Executions on 20 basic Haunted.

To perform an execution you must first injure a basic Haunted (non-boss) until they are either dead or staggered to where the execute or grab options appear above their head, shown with or . You can execute them when they are standing or while they are prone on the ground with a sword or hammer. After completing 20 executions the trophy will unlock.

If you're in a rush to earn this know that during every boss battle new enemies will spawn in as you kill them just as long as the boss is alive. This will allow you the opportunity to repeatedly execute enemies as you please.

Home Invasion
Clear the first and second floors of the manor house in The Executioner.

The manor house is the mansion you walk into at the start of the DLC as you begin to search for your daughter. Here you will be on the lookout for a Daughter Diary (found upstairs) which leads you to finding a Mobius Directive guiding you through the DLC to a boss. After the first boss, Sadist you will yet again find another Mobius Directive and locate the door to the next boss, Zhen. Now you will be placed back in the manor house you will search for the last Mobius Directive in the house before going up against the last boss of the area, Joseph. Now that you have completed all three steps you will proceed ahead following your daughters ghost until you drop down into a new area where the trophy will unlock.

Boss tips:

Best strategy would be to throw down some traps to hold him as you beat him down, but he can also be easily defeated by getting near him to where he'll strike at you where you want to dodge with + , , , or and then countering with your hammer attack. This will take a few strikes to kill him off, but it is safe and prevents you from taking damage by just brawling it out with him. Like all bosses there are enemies that will spawn in until the boss dies so keep rotating 360 degrees to stay alert.

As you enter the portal run down to Zhen and in front of him will be a turret, interact with it by pressing and await for him to stand straight up in front of you. Blast him away awaiting for him to fall on his knees where you can perform a melee move by pressing beside him. If he does not fall to his knees run around and find another turret as there are three in the area. Continue to use the turrets to deal massive damage to Zhen while eliminating any of the basic haunted enemies that get near you in the progress. Also if you use a turret you will have to reload it by tapping repeatedly until the reload bar is full.

Like the Sadist boss it's suggested you hide underneath the overhang and allow Joseph to fall down to ground level. Place some traps behind the debris or else he'll be able to shoot them and destroy them making it a waste of your inventory. He has a handgun that can shoot you the distance of the room and when you get close he'll more than likely throw a molotov at you which presents a great opportunity to begin attacking with with your hammer. Don't worry if you get hurt as you should find a med-kit soon after you reach the manor house.

The Craftsman's Tools
Clear the basement of the manor house in The Executioner.

Like the Home Invasion you will need to go through a series of quests leading you from Mobius Directive to a boss and so fourth. The first boss you come to will be the RPG Sadist which is in the same room you defeated Joseph earlier. Defeating him will lead you to the garage and eventually to the keepers cage where your daughter lays passed out awaiting to be saved. Once the keeper has been destroyed you will go through a cut-scene and credits which can be skipped by holding down .

Boss Tips:

RPG Sadist
As you enter the room if you have any traps put them along the pathway between the drop-down ledge and the concrete ramp to lead you up to the second level. This will cause the Sadist to get caught allowing you to attack him freely. Other than that avoid his RPG attack by running towards him and once all the rockets have been shot hit twice and back off before he does a melee of his own to you. As the Sadist loses health he will then drop the RPG and use the chainsaw which you should use the strategy from the first boss.

Amalgam Alpha
The creature from the garage, as the battle begins you will be told to use to fling the cars. Stand behind a car and wait for the boss to fling a car at you where you too quickly press to fling it right back exploding on contact. This will take a few cars, but should be hard to manage. Each time the boss gets hit directly with the car it will be stunned allowing you to perform a melee attack.

Keeper x3
This boss battle is the last one of the DLC and it includes three different phases. The first is waiting for the Keeper to appear as you get near he lockbox on the ground. You will want to attract him to the spike traps where you can pull the lever and crush him. You can do the dodge + attack as well for the first two phases. The boss can get stuck by the Barbed Wire Trap, however, it doesn't happen every time so don't count that to happen.

After the first two phases the bloody hands will come up from the ground trying to grab you so be careful and run around the connected room using your memory scanner until you find the Keeper for the third time. Attack him once you do and prepare to attack by any means. There is a med-kit in one of the adjoined rooms so if you need some health pick it up.

I've Got Box of Steel
Clear The Executioner without taking any damage.

As the description states you may not be dealt any damage of any kind throughout the entire DLC, however, you can press the options or start button and reload from the last auto-save or hard save and still be capable of unlocking the trophy at the end.

It's suggested to do this on a third or even forth playthrough on New Game Plus so you have your weapons all maxed out to help you. You do not need to upgrade your defense or health because you don't plan on being hurt anyway.

Note: Do this playthrough once you have purchased the infinite ammo item from the shop so you can use RPG from a distance to eliminate the bosses.

Note: Do not play any of the execution chambers as this will put you at risk to be dealt damage.

You Had This Coming
Get payback on the cop who took down your predecessor.

For this trophy you will need to kill Sebastian in one of two ways outlined down below. He has a lot of health and has the ability to kill you with two magnum shots or his punch so try to have some distance and cover. He also has a third attack that shoots the detonating arrows on the ground that will detonate as you get within range so watch out for those or throw some dynamite to blow them up.

From one of the two methods you will need to complete the Final Chamber Execution for one of the Torments, but defeating Sebastian by himself is much easier than defending yourself against Joseph at the same time. The Manor House Portal is also towards the beginning of the game whereas the Final Execution Chambers is just before you go to battle the Dark Keeper.

Manor House Portal Method:

By completing the DLC you will unlock access to the portal leading to Sebastian inside the Manor House. When you start a New Game Plus you won't be able to get into this portal until after you have defeated Joseph and the entrance to the basement unlocks at which time you will be shown the portal as it says it has unlocked. From here head upstairs and into the right or left door just as long as you go into the same hallway where the entrance to where Joseph was when you seen your daughter. In that hallway closest to the library and restroom is a portal that you can enter to battle Sebastian.

Enter the portal and you will go up against Sebastian as you would against Joseph or the RPG Sadist. Sebastian will appear on the second floor and jump down so get to some cover before he shoots you with the magnum. Hopefully you have the infinite ammo and the RPG to make this easier but if not place some barbed wire traps down to grab ahold of him if he closes in on your location. You can throw dynamite out at him which will make him fall to the ground allowing you to repeat the process until you run out of dynamite. If you need to get close and do some melee attacking use the sword as it is more powerful and quick then your hammer. Once Sebastian has been killed you will unlock this trophy and be rewarded plenty or memory tokens.

Final Execution Chamber Method:

  • Use the boss attacks to kill the hoards of enemies saving you time and energy!
  • Use this chamber to accumulate your memory tokens. Even if you die you keep your earned tokens.
  • Enemies sometimes drop med-kits, trap equipment, and dynamite so have a keen eye for what's on the ground.

The hardest Torment of all that requires you to make it through multiple waves of enemies before meeting Sebastian and Joseph at the end. The first two waves of enemies are basic enemies, followed by a wave of two enemies (one with a gun and one with dynamite) obliterate them quickly before they wreck you. From this wave on you will have a boss enter the chamber starting with the Sadist. Enemies will keep spawning in infinitely so just worry about killing the Sadist unless you're looking to score some memory tokens, next boss will be Zhen, followed by the RPG Sadist. Here it gets a bit tricky as a normal Sadist will also appear shortly after the RPG Sadist so you will have to deal with both of them at the same time. As the two of them die the remaining enemies will also die (sometimes one appears) leaving you to go around and collect any gear or med-kits before the final wave of the chamber.

This is troublesome if you do not have fully upgraded weapons with max upgrades especially with the RPG and dynamite. When the two come out of the elevator you will want them to get close to one another so you can RPG them sending them onto the ground awaiting for them to get up so you can continue this process until you no longer have ammo (by that time Joseph should be dead). Maneuver around the bus throwing down dynamite hoping Joseph will fall onto the ground as he did with the RPG is he does run to him and throw another stick of dynamite...repeat until you have no ammo left.

Joseph can throw Molotov's, shoot, and hit you with his axe so you if you decide to melee combat with him you will need to be in and out. Use the sword too as it is the most lethal damaging weapon at your expense that is quick. When he gets injured he will kneel on the ground allowing you to do an execution style of attack on him by pressing . Sebastian on the other hand has a lot more health and deals way more in fact about to hit with his magnum attack or punch and you'll be dead (even if all your items are upgraded 100%). It's imperative you stay away from him and attempt to get him with a trap or the strategy from above.
