[top]Tips & Strategies

The Order: 1886 can not be deemed "difficult" by most standards, but there are still those out there that would like the least painful path to plat as possible.
  • Never just rush into combat. You may have magic healing powers, but it doesn't mean you won't get wrecked by enemies with shotguns.
  • Use cover when possible. As a Third person shooter, aiming from cover will allow you to take out enemies with a reduced chance of being shot yourself.
  • Change cover frequently. By staying in one place for too long, you give the game's AI a chance to circle around and flank you. Don't let them outsmart you.
  • Use Blacksight on armored enemies. These foes have full-body metal armor that makes them difficult to kill with all but the most powerful weapons. Blacksight will allow you to hit them numerous times before they can get off even one shot to weaken them, potentially even killing them in the process.
  • Take your time and explore. If you just rush through the game, you WILL miss collectibles and other hidden objects.
  • Use the environment to your advantage. See a bunch of enemies near a red barrel? Why not shoot it to take them all out at once?

The Order: 1886 is a short and simple game, with even simpler trophies. A majority will be earned by collecting miscellaneous objects and earning various weapons kills throughout the game's 16 chapters. In a perfect run, the game can be platted with minimal backtracking. If you choose to play with a collectibles guide, your path is made even easier.

Step 1: Story playthrough and collectibles.
Go through the game on whatever difficulty suits your playing style while keeping an eye out for the game's 77 collectibles. In this step, you can expect to pick up:
  • The Hunter
  • Archivist
  • Well-read
  • Detail Oriented
  • Power of Observation
  • A Knight No More
  • Modern Marvels
  • Inspector First Class

Step 2: Weapons kills and Clean up
At this point, you'll begin to go back to different chapters to work on various kill types and miscellaneous trophies. You should expect to earn:
  • Discombobulated
  • Highly Volatile
  • Up in Flames
  • Gunslinger
  • Snuffed Out
  • Box Your Ears
  • From the Hip
  • Undivided Attention
  • Between the Eyes
  • The Marksman
  • Well Rounded
  • Collateral Damage
  • Brilliant!
  • The Grail

The Grail
Collect all Trophies

Standard fare, collect all trophies for the free plat.

A Knight No More
Complete the game (any difficulty)

Simply take your time on whatever difficulty you feel like and enjoy the ride. The trophy will pop after the second set of credits begin to roll.

The Marksman
Kill 5 enemies with a headshot during Blacksight

Blacksight is an ability learned in the second chapter that allows you to rapidly fire multiple shots at your enemies with your sidearm. When the guage at the bottom is at least half full, tap to enter Blacksight. Time will slow down and your aiming reticle will snap to a random body part of the nearest enemy. Continuously fire at them until you register a kill, indicated by a red reticle. Keep in mind that you won't always deal the killing blow via a headshot, so feel free to restart the checkpoint if you'd wish to try again. You can farm the five kills in this manner or simply try to get them throughout the story. Just use Blacksight whenever you get the chance and you SHOULD earn this by the end of the game. If not, simply reload an earlier chapter and kill some enemies (Chapter 9 has quite a few).

Well Rounded
Kill an enemy with every weapon

Part of The Order: 1886's charm is in its unique weaponry. While carbines and pistols are fairly common in modern games, some weapons like the Thermite Rifle and the Arc Lance really show the sci-fi side of the game's universe. There are 16 total weapons to find throughout the game, either by looting them from fallen enemies or being given them during story missions. They are:

Weapon Type Location
C-78 Autoloading Pistol Pistol Chapter 1: Unmissable
MK 1 Service Revolver Pistol Can be found throughout most of the game on dead enemies.
'Duelist' Revolver Pistol Chapter 3: Equipped at the beginning of the chapter.
C-81 Maschinenpistole Pistol Chapter 5: Dropped by most enemies in the chapter.
M4 'Dragoon' Revolver Pistol Chapter 8: Starting Inventory.
M2 'Falchion' Auto-Rifle Rifle Chapter 1: Kill the hostage taker after stunning him.
M82 Selfloader Carbine Rifle Chapter 3: Dropped by early enemies. Also found throughout the game.
M85 Automatisch Rifle Chapter 3: Found on many dead enemies throughout the chapter.
RA-5 Repeating Shotgun Shotgun Chapter 3: Found on one of the many dead shotgunners during the ambush.
'Three Crown' Coach Gun Shotgun Chapter 5: Dropped by enemies in the Kitchen.
Chapter 11: Dropped by multiple foes.
M84 Marksman Carbine Sniper Chapter 9: You will be given the weapon to provide cover fire for a friend.
M86 Thermite Rifle Science Chapter 3: Given near the end of the chapter.
T-23 Arc Induction Lance Science Chapter 8: Starting inventory.
TS-29 Cannon Science Chapter 8: Unmissable.
TS-17 'Detonator' Science Chapter 9: Dropped by an enemy on the ship. Also found on the deck below on a crate.
Repeating Arbalest Crossbow Chapter 11: Automatically added to your inventory.
Keep in mind that along with these 16 weapons, you will also need a kill with your standard MK IV Grenade, found in almost every chapter. Should you get a kill with each weapon as early as possible, the trophy should unlock after the crossbow kill during Chapter 11. If you happen to miss one of the weapons, you will have to run another playthrough until you find said weapon. The kills carry over from previous playthroughs.

Modern Marvels
Kill 40 enemies with science weapons

Technically un-missable due to the events of Chapter 8. After you take out the rocket launcher enemy on the bridge, you'll pick up his weapon and be tasked with wiping out his reinforcements. There are at least 40 enemies and you have unlimited ammo, so you just start lighting them up and you'll pop the trophy before the chapter ends.

Collateral Damage
Kill 3 enemies with a single explosion

Not overly difficult, with several places throughout the story to get it done. There are 3 main ways to kill 3+ enemies with: Barrels, Grenades, and the TS-29 Cannon.
  • The earliest you'll be able to get barrel kills is during Chapter 3 in the ambush area. There will be plenty of enemies running past and hiding near some explosive barrels in the area. Shoot one while at least three enemies are nearby and it should take them all out at once. If not, you may try reloading the checkpoint to try again.
  • Grenades can also be used to wipe out the necessary enemies, but it is much more difficult due to the long fuse and low blast radius (compared to the powder kegs/barrels.) If you can find 3+ enemies grouped together in a small area, toss a 'nade and hope for the best.
  • In chapter 8 you will be given the TS-29 Cannon as part of the story. It is a rocket launcher with unlimited ammo that you must use against the wave of 40+ enemy reinforcements. There will be many times where the enemies will cluster together, so these are the perfect opportunity to strike. Powerpyx has outlined a great spot to do this as soon as you pick up the weapon below.

Between the Eyes
Kill 100 enemies with a headshot

Ah, the headshot. A staple of all games in the shooter genre (excluding Dead Space ), kills earned in this manner will come by the barrel-full throughout the story. If you manage to complete the game without registering 100 headshots, you can farm them through chapter select. Chapter 9 has a ton of enemies, so that would be a good place to start. Remember, aim high!

Undivided Attention
Kill 25 enemies during Blacksight

To enter Blacksight, you will need the gauge at the bottom-right to be at least half full and press Time will slow down and automatically aim at the nearest enemy. By firing your weapon repeatedly, you can dispatch your enemies quickly and easily. You will more than likely earn this when going for The Marksman

From the Hip
Kill 25 enemies without aiming

Just like in the movies! Unlike the movies, however, shooting from the hip serves no real purpose besides suppression fire from cover. This method of attack will significantly reduce your accuracy, so it would be wise to attempt these kills from close range. Weapons like full auto rifles and shotguns work best here, as they can quickly cover a large area with bullets or buckshot. The 'Three Crown' Coach Gun works best of all, due to its very wide spread. It can silence most enemies within 20 ft.

Box Your Ears
Kill 15 enemies with melee attacks

Aside from the standard shooter mechanics at work in The Order, you also have a very powerful melee attack at your disposal. By getting up close to a non-armored human enemy, you can press for a devastating one-hit kill. You can either attempt to earn these kills throughout the story or you the checkpoint restart method to farm them quickly. Remember to be careful around shotgun enemies, as they're deadly at close range.

Snuffed Out
Kill 7 enemies with silent takedowns

Silent Kills are introduced during Chapter 5. To perform one, you'll need to silently approach an enemy from behind, until a prompt appears. To perform the kill, you'll need to press when it lights up. Press too early or too late and you'll alert the guard, who will then turn around and shoot you. You will be given plenty of opportunities to get this during Chapters 5 and 11, as they are stealth themed. If you wish to farm these kills early, you can do so by utilizing the checkpoint restart method.

Kill 75 enemies with pistols

There are 5 unique pistols throughout the game for you to find and kill enemies with. They are the C-78 Autoloading Pistol, MK 1 Service Revolver, 'Duelist' Revolver, C-81 Maschinenpistole, M4 'Dragoon' Revolver. For nearly every chapter, you will have a pistol available as a sidearm. Simply kill as many enemies as you can with them as you play through the story. The kills are cumulative, meaning you don't need 75 kills with one type of pistol, just 75 across ALL pistols!

The Hunter
Kill 10 Lycans

Story Related

Throughout the game, you will do battle against multiple Lycans. These werewolf-like enemies change up the combat by charging at you, forcing a dodge with the prompt (that or you can get knocked down/killed). Continue shooting them until they fall, then rush in and finish them off with . You will encounter plenty of them throughout the story, but you may also farm them early on during Chapter 1 if you want to get this out of the way early.

Up in Flames
Incinerate 15 enemies

For this trophy you will need access to the M86 Thermite rifle. You'll find this one during Chapter 3. The M86 fires a flare that CAN kill an enemy eventually, but that isn't the main draw. By using the weapon's secondary fire mode, you launch a thermite dust over an enemy. Subsequently firing a flare into this dust will ignite it and rain down on the helpless fool. The weapon is quite uncommon throughout the story, so you may wish to farm the kills during chapter 3. Barbecue those godless rebels

Inspector First Class
Find all inspect items

Throughout the 16 Chapter in The Order: 1886, there are 77 non-story objects that you can find and interact with. Thankfully, These are only spread across 8 chapters, and most can be found away from combat zones. To make your path to platinum easier, a detailed walkthrough and video guide (via Powerpyx) showing every item in each chapter has been provided.

Collect all phonograph cylinders

There are 16 Phonograph Cylinders to be found throughout the game. For detailed locations and video guides, see Inspector First Class.

Inspect all newspapers

There are 10 Newspapers to be found throughout the game. For detailed locations and video guides, see Inspector First Class.

Detail Oriented
Inspect all photographs and documents

There are 11 Photographs and 16 Documents to be found throughout the game. For detailed locations and video guides, see Inspector First Class.

Power of Observation
Inspect all objects

There are 10 Objects to be found throughout the game. For detailed locations and video guides, see Inspector First Class.

Shoot an airborne grenade during Blacksight

Perhaps one of the easiest trophies in the game, simply because it doesn't even have to be an enemy's grenade. You can toss one of your own, switch to Blacksight by tapping and blast the grenade out of the air! If you choose this method, you will have your first opportunity in Chapter 3, after seeing the "Queen" at the gallows. There will be a grenade on a box after the sniper section. You can simply reload the checkpoint if you fail to shoot the 'nade in mid-air. If you want to try it the "legitimate" way, you'll have to wait a while for a chance, as grenade enemies show up in later chapters.

*Note* This should work for all grenade types that you or your enemies will use.

Powerpyx has shown us the easy way here.

Stun an enemy 30 times with the M2 'Falchion'

The M2 'Falchion' is the standard armament of the Order, with a decent accuracy and stopping power. It also has a secondary fire mode for close quarters fighting. By tapping , it will emit a burst of compressed air that knocks back enemies, disorienting them for a second or two. The M2 is quite common throughout most of the game, so just use the stun mode whenever you get the chance. Like most weapon trophies, you can farm these stuns by restarting a checkpoint if needed.

Highly Volatile
Detonate 10 powder kegs

When will video game enemies learn to not hide near large red barrels? Hopefully not any time soon. Throughout the game you will see numerous red barrels. Like most games, these serve as an environmental hazard for enemies (or you, if you decide to duck behind one.) that explode when shot at. Like most stats in this game, exploded barrels carry over from restarted checkpoints, making the middle of Chapter 3 an excellent place to farm these. There will be 3-4 barrels in the area with the multi-wave ambush.
