[top]Tips & Strategies

All copies of the Nathan Drake Collection come with this DLC pre-installed on the disc. You do not need to buy anything off of the PSN store, or redeem any codes.

There's a lot of cross-over, in terms of requirements, between this DLC pack and the main game. I'll be pointing these out in the descriptions below, but for a more comprehensive roadmap, please check the main guide linked above.

Tweak Glitch:
Normally to use Tweaks during a playthrough on a certain difficulty, you must first beat the game legit on that difficulty (i.e. if you want to use Tweaks on Hard, you have to beat the game on Hard first). There is, however, a glitch that you can exploit that will allow you to use Tweaks during a playthrough one difficulty greater than you have completed (i.e. beat the game on Hard, but use Tweaks on Crushing).

For the sake of example, let's say you've beaten the game on Crushing, and you want to make your Brutal playthrough a little easier. Here's how it's done:
  1. Beat the game on Crushing.
  2. Start a new game on Brutal and play until Chapter 2.
  3. Pause your game and change the difficulty back down to Hard.
  4. While still in the Pause Menu, enable all the Tweaks you want to use, then Exit to the Main Menu.
  5. Go to Chapter Select and choose Chapter 2. Set the difficulty to Brutal, then press to back out.
  6. Select Continue to resume your playthrough on Brutal with Tweaks Enabled.

Note: the glitch will need to be re-applied each time you quit to the Main Menu.

[top]Roadmap

Step 1 - Previously, on Among Thieves...
There's a good chance that you've already earned a couple of these trophies in your regular playthrough. If you're reading this in advance to prepare, please note that you can earn the following on your way to Platinum:
  • Supernatural Born Killers
  • Cosplay
  • YOLO Among Thieves
  • Take Me to Your Leader
  • Cheat Hard to Cheat Harder

Step 2 - Brutal Playthrough
I've put the ETA for this DLC pack at 18-20 hours, mostly because of this trophy. For skilled players or veterans, this trophy will present a reasonable challenge, but should be conquerable in 10-12 hours; first-timers might be looking at a slightly longer time-to-complete.

Step 3 - Speed-run feat. Doughnuts
The next thing you'll want to do is a Continuous Speed-run, while wearing the Doughnut Drake costume.

Step 4 - Clean-up
Simply mop up any trophies you missed in the previous steps.

Charted! - Brutal
Finish the Game on Brutal Without Changing the Difficulty

Brutal is an all-new difficulty, added to give veterans an extra challenge, and first-time players nightmares. It's unlocked by first beating the game on Crushing.

On Brutal difficulty the amount of damage you do is unaffected, but it will only take one or two hits from any type of weapon to take you down - basically, you should consider this 'realistic' mode. The best advice I can offer you is that you stay in cover as much as possible, and make use of chokepoints by baiting the AI to fight on your terms. If you're having trouble with a certain section, take a break - banging your head against a wall for an hour isn't going to help you.

Corner Shooting:
The one downside of shooting from cover is that, while you're firing, you're still vulnerable to damage. Thankfully, there's away to avoid this (sort of).

Instead of pressing to 'take cover' behind something, you should instead position yourself so that the cover is between you and the enemy, then slowly peak out (after making sure to switch the camera so that it's over the shoulder that you're peaking with), keeping your cross-hair locked as tightly to the edge of the cover as possible.

Because of the way line of sight works in Uncharted, you'll be able to see enemies as you peak, but they won't be able to see you, and in many cases they won't even react to you, until you start shooting. Obviously this only works in situations with tall cover, so you won't be able to try this with waist-high cover.

Note: if you're really struggling, or just want to make your life easier, you can use the Tweak Glitch outlined in the Tips & Strategies section above.

Supernatural Born Killers
Defeat 5 Guardians With a Sniper Rifle

While it is conceivably possibly to earn this trophy in a regular playthrough, it would require you to hamstring yourself by collecting a Dragon Sniper and then holding onto it for a long period of time before ever using it. Instead, I recommend that you load up a chapter with Guardian enemies, then use Tweaks to equip yourself with a Dragon Sniper (and unlimited ammo, while you're at it). My pick is Chapter 25.

After the set-piece with the large sliding platform, you'll arrive in a courtyard. As you make your way to climb out, a couple of Guardians (but less than 5) will attack you. Kill a few of them, then restart the Checkpoint and farm as necessary.

Cosplay
Kill an Enemy While Playing as an Alternate Character Costume Other Than Drake

To earn this trophy you need to kill a single enemy while using an alternate costume that isn't Drake. You have a number of options to choose from, including Sully, Elena, or maybe even Eddy Raja.

Alternate Skins are found in the Bonuses menu.

Note: this trophy can be earned during your Clean-up stage for Platinum.

YOLO Among Thieves
Beat the Last Chapter Without Dying on Normal Difficulty or Harder

If you earn this trophy on your Crushing or Brutal playthroughs, then I tip my hat to you. For the rest of us mortals, your best bet is to load up Chapter 26 via Chapter Select, with the difficulty set on Normal.

The best way to approach the boss fight, that I've found, is to run around the arena in a clock-wise direction. Once you have some distance (but not too much, or Lazarevic will take short-cuts to catch you), place your crosshair on the next bit of resin that you expect him to run past, then as soon as he comes into view, put a shot into it, turn, and then run. Remember, the primary damage comes from exploding the resin.

If you're struggling with the fight, YouTube user DirtyToneuk demonstrates an easy cheese method that I've included below.

Once you beat the final boss, you still have some work to do. Time your jumps carefully in the collapsing bridge set-piece, and don't forget that at the very end you'll need to save Chloe with some well-placed shots.

Too Fat Too Furious
Complete a Continuous Speed Run as Doughnut Drake

When you start your Continuous Speed-run (see Needer for Speeder for more information), pause your game then go to Bonuses, Rewards, and then Skins and activate the Doughnut Drake skin. Complete your Continuous Speed-run using this costume to unlock this trophy.

Note: while you're free to complete the Speed-run in as many sittings as you need, please remember that every time you load your save file, the game will reset your costume, so upon loading in, you'll need to immediately pause your game and re-equip the costume.

Take Me to Your Leader
Compare Statistics with Friends

This can be done at any time. Simply pause your game, go to Bonuses, then Statistics. This will present you with a list of all the stats that the game tracks. Pick any one you want, and press to compare your stats with those of your friends.

Note: this trophy can be earned at any point during your quest for Platinum.

Needer for Speeder
Achieve a Complete Speed Run Time of Less than 3 Hours and 30 minutes

A Continuous Speed-run is just like an 'Any%' run - you need to complete the whole game within the allotted time. Fortunately, you don't have to do it all in a single sitting. To begin your Speed-run, select New Game from the Main Menu, then choose Continuous Speed Run. As for the difficulty, I recommend Easy, though you're free to attempt it on any difficulty except Explorer.

The best advice I can offer is in regards to combat - knowing the difference between a combat stage that you can skip, and one that you have to clear, can greatly affect your completion time. If you're unsure, err on the side of caution and go for the clearance.

Tip: you can earn The Fat and the Furious at the same time. See the trophy description for more info.

Cheat Hard to Cheat Harder
Activate a Tweak

Tweaks (aka Cheats) are unlocked by collecting medals, but don't become available to you until you've completed at least one playthrough. Once you've beaten the game, Tweaks will become available for you to use on that same difficulty, and any below, but cannot be used during Speed-runs.

To activate a Tweak, pause your game, go to Bonuses > Rewards > Tweaks, and enable whichever ones you like.

Note: this trophy can be earned during your Clean-up stage for Platinum.
