MEMBER OF THE MONTH INTERVIEW EXTRAVAGANZA
Featuring our winners from September, October, and November 2012!
Hey guys! Compa's been pretty busy lately so I'm helping out with some of the back interviews with the Member of the Month winners. There are several very deserving members who haven't yet had their time in the limelight, so that means we've got not one, not two, but THREE MotM interviews for you folks tonight!
great_daze_tazer was our September winner, Marccap was our October, and Luckay was our November, so I sat down with each of those lovely gents and had a nice little chat. Without any further preamble, because we've got a lot to cover, I give you their responses:
September 2012 - great_daze_tazer
1) How does it feel to win Member of the Month?
To tell the absolute truth I felt I was undeserving to win with who I was up against, they deserved to win more but I felt really proud to have done so.
2) How did you find the site?
I can't really remember but I know I was having trouble with a certain trophy & I was looking for a little guidance & I found this site mere days from the site crashing.
3) Your competitions have been a site favorite the last few months - what inspired you to start doing them?
Giving Lasombra a game when his PS3 decided to literally eat his copy of FFXIII got me to thinking I should hand stuff out to deserving members & my daughter said I should hold competitions 7 months later & here I am.
4) Anything special to look out for in the coming months?
New competitions of course but atm I'm making my very first trophy guide & This year I will be buying a HD recorder, so you guys will see more video guides made from me.
5) What keeps you logging in every day?
We are going through dark times right now with members leaving & I don't want to be known as the guy who gives up when the going gets tough. Plus the trophy guides here are standalone the absolute best guides going today. This is why I keep coming back.
6) What is your favorite platinum or completion?
Both of my Sonic's Unleashed & Generations. I have always loved Sonic games since I was younger & I always will, but Unleashed pushed me as a player to a new level of gaming & Generations was a great trip down memory lane.
7) Any upcoming games you're excited about?
Not really. I'm looking forward to playing Bioshock Infinite & GOW Ascension but because I work with games I really don't get excited about anything gamewise anymore.
8) Any thoughts or hopes concerning the rumors about the next-gen consoles?
Yeah people need to stop worrying & just wait patiently, i'm sure everyone will be pleased & Through my work sources we might not need to wait much longer.
9) What do you do for a living? What's life like in your area?
I manage an Electronics Boutique Games Store. I live out in the sticks & usually enjoy my country life. But I have just gone through surviving a bush fire to almost getting floods through my house again, so I'm seriously considering moving to the city areas to make things safer for my family
10) Shout-outs?![]()
A big shout-out to everyone who has made a guide that I have used, The friendly people that always stop by CL & leave some encouraging words even though I'm quite bad at returning the favour, everyone I have made friends with here & of course a big shout-out goes to Submerge for bringing us all together.
October 2012 - Marccap
1) How does it feel to win Member of the Month?
It feels pretty good to finally be member of the month and to be recognized for my work and contributions to the site. I was pretty close to winning on several different occasions but always got beaten right at the last minute.
2)How did you find the site?
The red dead redemption guide by old man Davey got me to this site when I looked it up on google for tips. I slowly got more involved with the site and eventually joined up mid 2010 and progressed from there.
3) You've been a member of both the Guide Team and the News Team before - what's that like?
I started writing trophy guides from the end of 2010 and onwards. I started out with a short/simple guide to get used to the writing and the site as I was still quite a n00b. I then got hooked on writing trophy guides from early 2011 and I started banging them out
left, right and center where I was then approached to join the News Team. At first I wasn't too sure but I joined the team with an open mind and got to really enjoy providing news and trophy lists for the community. I loved the freedom of posting any news that you wanted and I tried varying the news to suit a wide range of gamers and not just posting news about popular games.
I remained on the news team for around 6 months where I posted over 200 news articles whilst I carried on writing trophy guides at the same time. In that time I began writing guides for more bigger and popular games such as Max Payne 3 where I was then approached by the TGT. Again i tried varying my guides with DLC's, big and small games as it can be tiring writing big guides all the time. Joining TLT and TGT helped me improve my writing, graphic skills and to be more involved with the community.
4) You're one of the few members to receive that highest of honors - the emoticon. What's the story behind it?
Not sure really lol - I think it started when Davey got his emote, then Comp so I thought I would ask Sub and my hulkwas accepted. I like Marvel comics and nobody has a "HUlk" sig etc so I decided to stick with him.
5) What keeps you logging in every day?
I love ps3t.com and I would never go to another ps3 site. The site has a nice community, I enjoy popping into the chatbox now and again and of course the trophy guides.
6) What is your favorite platinum or completion?
I would say my favorite plat is Far Cry 3 as it's a really enjoyable game to play and I would recommend it to anyone. My proudest plat is Homefront as it took way over 100+ hours and only 87 members on here have the plat.
7) Any upcoming games you're excited about?
There's quite a few games that I'm really looking forward to playing such as Dead Space 3, The Last of Us, GTA V and Watchdogs.
8) Any thoughts or hopes concerning the rumors about the next-gen consoles?
Well hopefully Sony will make the big announcement on February 20th about the PS4. I think in relation to the trophy system, it will be just the same as normal and and it will roll over to the PS4 from PS3 So we can carry on platinum hunting. I'm hoping the PS4 wont cost too much at first like the PS3 was but we will have to see.
9) What do you do for a living? What's life like in your area?
I work for the emergency services which can be tiring and stressful at times so the PS3 helps to relax me. I work all kinds of shifts so you will find me on the site at random times. Lately I've teamed up with Davey and Comp at platboyonline.com as admins so that also keeps me busy as well as TGT on here. I got my own place in a decent area and I have things like my gym, cinema, town, restaurants etc close by. I also live close to London in the UK so I can always opt to go there for a night out.
10) And of course, the fan-favorite shout-out section
Well of course a big shout out to everyone from TGT and the staff on this site as well as any members that I normally chat to as there is too many to list.
November 2012 - Luckay
1) How does it feel to win Member of the Month?
It makes me feel...speshul. :3
2) How did you find the site?
I found the site while searching for trophy cards a few months after I got into collecting trophies. I think I had already earned 4-5 platinums at the time. Now I can't remember why I was searching for trophy cards, or how I even found out about them, but PS3Trophies.com was one of the first results and looked promising, so I clicked on it and found a collection of cards to use. Looking back at it, if I wouldn't have joined the forums I'd have no use for the trophy cards anyway.
3) Your graphics work has been among the most sought-after in recent months. What made you start? Do you plan to pursue it later in life?
When I first joined, I saw that people had signatures and some looked really cool. My first thought was that I wanted one. Being a huge fan of Fallout 3 at the time I requested a signature from Jack and it sparked my love for them. I downloaded Gimp, found a few tutorials and soon later started my own shop (Dsluckay's Lucky Sigs). Months later I started a shop with apokolypz (New Generation Sigs) which included platbars and cards. Anyone who's done platbars and platcards before knows how much of a bad idea they are. So I got overwhelmed a few months after that, and that's when I started seeing the drama between Industry of Sigs and the Gimp Gurus. After hopping between the two shops and seeing them both close after I left, and I dropped off the radar for a while (in terms of graphics
). Flash forward and I'm now Davey's bitch.
At first I wanted to pursue some sort of career in graphics, but I later thought that I just wanted to do it more as a hobby than a job. My career of choice now is an engineer, so I'm trying to do everything possible to ensure that.
4) As a member of the Review Team for some months now, what're some of you favorite reviews on the site? Which ones of your own are you the most proud of?
I haven't given much thought as to which review is my favorite, since a review is just a review. However the most popcorn was eaten in the Dishonored review when my writing was insulted by a member *cough* Faust *cough*.
Though I did learn something from that experience, what syntax means.
5) What keeps you logging in every day?
The community, mostly. I've made a few friends during my time here that are the main reason for my return each day. Also because I like games and whatnot, and this being a game website and stuff.
6) What is your favorite platinum or completion?
My favorite platinum has got to be Twisted Metal mostly due to how rare it is. The only reason I could see why it's so rare is because of the multiplayer trophies glitching. My personal hardest part of my journey towards the platinum was during the final boss on Twisted difficulty. Fuck what anyone else says, that was tough. All the other trophies just take dedication, ones for getting 100 kills with every missile, 50 kills with each vehicle, etc. People think doing those is the hardest part and I just sit and wonder if they've tried Twisted difficulty yet.
7) Any upcoming games you're excited about?
I'm mostly excited about Bioshock: Infinite, I'm mildly looking forward to Dead Space 3 and God of War: Ascension (very skeptical about those games).
8) Any thoughts or hopes concerning the rumors about the next-gen consoles?
I hope the next PlayStation console has a larger library than the PS3 did. I would like to see more retail games developed by more independent companies rather than big devs and publishers ruling the market. The PS2 did this perfectly. It's asking for a lot, I know, but I just want to see more diversity in the current gaming world.
9) What do you do for a living? What's life like in your area?
I make a hard-earned living attending my town's highschool.Life in my area is quiet, and mostly boring. I live outside of Winnipeg, in a smallish town, so there isn't much going on. Most, if not all of my friends live outside of the town so spend most of my time gaming and going to school.
10) Shout-out time!
Shout outs, hmm. You're all awesome.
Except you. You know who you are.![]()
Ladies and gentlemen, we thank you for your patience! Tune in shortly for our next installment with the December winner!![]()

I'm new here, so forgive my ignorance, but how precisely does one enter into the running for member of the month? Are we talking useful forum posts, or speedy trophy accumulation, or is there some kind of vote that happens? Thanks in advance for your kind reply.
