To be honest, as a person who's lost somebody close.. I don't think the difference between 2 days to 3 days in between a horrible incident is going to make a lot of time on coping. It's not like a funeral is going to cause closure, or that more details aren't going to emerge during the process that is just going to reopen the wound to cause more questions. Death is a horrible thing to deal with, but I don't see what delaying the game is going to accomplish, but cause more inconvenience for the players, the fans who are there, or the coaches. Some good ol' fashion football might be the best medicine for all people involved.
If what the reports are saying about this happening in front of Crennel, Pioli, and a few assistants (and possibly players), I don't think a lifetime is going enough time to shake the images from their minds that they saw in Belcher's final moments. It is very likely that it will be with all those who witnessed them for the rest of their lifetimes. Not as if having one more day is going to fix that.

Total Awards: 6A couple of thoughts on the KC situation:
For those of you saying that the League should simply re-schedule the game for Monday night, it's not so simple. First of all, you're talking about a significant disruption on very short notice (and zero possible warning) for the Carolina Panthers. This isn't a situation similar to the last couple of Sunday-to-Monday postponements, such as when New Orleans was hit by a hurricane or when wildfires were threatening San Diego. In those cases, there was an expectation well ahead of time that there might be disruptions and alternatives could be rationally and reasonably debated. Whereas right now there wasn't any reason to think there might need to be a change -- not just for the players, but for the officials, for fans attending the game, et cetera -- until late this morning.
And frankly, why would a delay of one day make any difference whatsoever? Like Rubicant81 said, it's not going to allow for any closure. People are still going to be dealing with it, and heaven knows what sort of additional details are going to leak out. I could see trying to find a way to re-arrange the schedule if this were early in the season and bye weeks made a possible shuffling work out.... but that's not the case now.
Hold a moment of silence for the guy if you feel that's absolutely necessary, but otherwise it ought to be "business as usual". I sincerelty hope they don't, but I won't soapbox as to why because my opinion on the matter is guaranteed to offend all of you who worship at the altar of political correctness and I don't feel the urge to start a flame war in this thread.
I'd rather the Chiefs hold a moment of silence for the young woman who was murdered, but I figure there's a far better chance I'll end up dating several Victoria's Secret fashion models.... because that's the way the world works.

And this is why you go for a sure fire field goal on a fourth and one. I even told my wife that would come back to haunt them.
fucking bears.

Congrats To KC on thier second win and what an ending to the bears game tough loss. How about Andrew Luck with a hell of a drive to win the game with no time left. Luck is looking like the real deal.

Hard-fought win by my Steelers in another good game vs. the "hated" Ravens.
Good game B-more.

Total Awards: 6I watched substantial portions of two football games this weekend:
The Wisconsin-Nebraska game last night (Big Ten Championship) had as much offense as anyone could desire. If that game were an axiom, it would be the red-headed stepchild being taken behind the woodshed and beaten within an inch of his life. Being a Badger fan, I thoroughly enjoyed that contest.
On the other hand, the Cardinals-Jets game was simply offensive.... and not in a good way. That's about as ugly a game as I've ever had the misfortune to watch. Even though I'm a Jets fan and have some satisfaction about the final outcome, that was a painful game to watch and not particularly enjoyable even given the final.
Of course, we also saw the Jets' season and their vain hopes of a playoff run likely come to an end today. Watching Detroit, Baltimore, and San Diego all blow late leads all deal body blows to any possibilities.... the difference between being one game out with four to play and two games out with four to play is immense.

SNF game notes
My Cowboys get a big win to help keep us in the playoff race whilst for the Eagles I think that game shows there season in a way but I was very impressed by the play of Nick Foles; I would definitely make him starter for rest of season and next season as well as he looks like a kid with a lot of promise
Now looking ahead to MNFLast edited by jarethgeason; 12-04-2012 at 07:33 AM.

Total Awards: 6Let's not pretend the Dallas Cowboys have much of a playoff shot, or that last night was helpful to them -- neither one is true.
The last time I checked, Dallas is in third place in the division and will likely have to run the table to win it.... something that is highly unlikely considering their remaining schedule and the fact that they've won consecutive games exactly once this season. Sure, it helps them to some degree that Washington kept the Giants within screaming distance, but it hurts them that they're behind Washington. The Redskins have the tiebreak (at present) and Washington has a far easier schedule: two home games plus trips to Cleveland and Philadelphia.
Also, the Cowboys have precious little chance at the Wild Card. Not only do they trail Washington at present, but Chicago is up two games (with the tiebreak firmly in hand) and Seattle is a game ahead of the Cowboys (with the tiebreak firmly in hand). Dallas' best hope here is for Green Bay to completely collapse, because there's a tiebreak opportunity to be had there.

Not too sure how I'd feel about this one...
"TIME sat in on meeting between Goodell and Rich McKay, head of the NFL's powerful competition committee. Goodell brought up a proposal promoted by Greg Schiano, coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: after a touchdown or field goal, instead of kicking off, a team would get the ball on its own 30-yard line, where it's fourth-and-15. The options are either to go for it and try to retain possession, or punt. If you go for it and fall short, the opposing team would take over with good field position. In essence, punts would replace kickoffs, and punts are less susceptible to violent collisions than kickoffs."

Apparently, Josh Trent a Nose tackle for the Dallas Cowboys has been arrested for DUI and intoxicated manslaughter after causing an accident that sadly killed a teammate(Jerry Brown)
Dallas Cowboy's DUI arrest in death of teammate - CBS News
I feel bad for Brown and his family. Don't ride with people that have been drinking. It's a shame. I hope Trent gets the maximum sentence. I have ZERO respect for people drinking and driving. Period

Total Awards: 6This unfortunate situation with the Dallas Cowboys is the one the media SHOULD be making a big deal out of. Sadly, there isn't a whole lot of mileage for the pompous blowhards in journalism and politics to get out of a DUI.... unlike their desire to try and use last week's Kansas City incident to try and push their liberal gun control agenda.

Total Awards: 10Remember that Atlanta Falcon's hype about them being the best team in the league? Yeah, having Cam Newton destroy you like that is going to take all that talk out of the room. There's a reason nobody has any faith in that team, and it's games like today that show you why Atlanta has about as much chance of being in the Superbowl as the New York Jets.

Total Awards: 6The only people who hyped Atlanta as "the best team in the League" were Falcons' players, fans, and media followers. Personally, I won't have any faith in them until they win some playoff games.
Also, I wasn't particularly surprised that Atlanta got spanked today. They're effectively on cruise control at this point, because they only need two wins in their final four games (or a couple of losses from San Francisco, Chicago, and Green Bay) to claim homefield advantage. Like a lot of good teams this time of year, there's a pronounced tendency to "take the foot off the gas" and have a couple of subpar performances without anything on the line.
I expect Atlanta to "be up" for next week, because they're hosting the Giants and New Jersey obliterated them in the Wild Card round last year. Even if they lose that game, I wouldn't worry about them losing the top seed in the NFC.... they finish with Detroit and Tampa Bay, with the Lions already playing for next season and the Buccanners likely in the same boat by Week 17.
