Total Awards: 3Trying to be as unbiased as I can, but I think the game between Vancouver and Anaheim was the best game of day 1 (Ducks fan btw). Apparently they were giving away free beer and $1 nachos at that game. But yeah, it was great to see Selanne score 2 goals and 2 assists, as well as Getzlaf, Perry, Koivu, Winnik and Souray getting points (Souray had a sweet PP goal).
I know it's only 2 games in, but what is going on with the Rangers? I know that Lundqvist did his best against the Bruins (2 goals were screened, and the third was a rebound), but I think Penguins were just too good.
Detroit was clearly missing veteran defense, as the Blues beat them 6-0. And Columbus beat Nashville 2-1 in a shootout.
Also, it was great to see the Sharks win their first game of the season, with a 4-1 win over the Flames. Boyle and Havlat each had a goal, and Marleau had 2.

Total Awards: 11Chicago is looking great this year with the game they played against the Kings…
The Flyers just got bad luck last night against the Sabres having 2 goals disallowed blows and both should have been allowed.
Anyone else end up getting game center live? they reduced it down to 49.99 of 2 payments of 24.99 this year

Total Awards: 3Hey Jareth, do you really need to post the results like that? We can check the results on NHL.com, ya know?
Anyway, that was one great Sharks game. They beat the Coyotes 5-3. 4 goals in the 3rd after being down 2-1. Also, apparently the Coyotes bandwagon has abandoned the team:

Total Awards: 6No, it is NOT useful. There are a million and six other spots on the internet to get those scores, and roughly one million and three of those are far easier and more informational than getting them here. Near as I can tell, jarethgeason, you're spamming this thread for the sake of spamming this thread without contributing anything remotely meaningful.... and you do roughly the same thing in the NFL thread (with the slight addition of half-penny analysis that is also more easily found elsewhere).
You aren't adding any analysis. You aren't adding any opinion. You're just posting for the sake of inflating your post count and your post frequency. Personally, my opinion is that if you aren't going to offer something to the thread that isn't easily found anywhere else, there's no point to your doing so.... and people are simply going to ignore you or desert the thread if you're going to use it in such a cavalier fashion.
Also, just because it's done in the NBA thread doesn't mean it should be done here.
I'm just getting back home from that game down in Newark. Two thoughts on Devils-Caps:
- I'm not sure who really should have won that game. The Capitals were by far the better team for the first 30-odd minutes of the game, and Martin Brodeur was the sole reason the Devils were still winning. Then Neuvirth kept the Capitals in the game when the rest of the Devils finally felt like waking up. Then the Devils did what they've done a lot since last spring, and that's take a bunch of stupid penalties and let teams back in the game. Finally, Ilya Kovalchuk won the game with an absolutely sick shot that I don't believe Neuvirth should fault himself for letting by.... even though the goalie was absolutely despondent after the red lamp went on -- I should know, I'm five rows behind that goal when I'm at Devils games.
- If Washington wants to fire their idiot head coach, would they be willing to trade him back to the Devils? You can have our new idiot assistant coach who is running our "power play", and we'll take Oates back.... our PP was actually pretty decent last year once the kinks got worked out and we stopped allowing four shorthanded breakaways against every week.

Total Awards: 11Flyers aren't looking to good without some of their players already this season!! Ahhh they need Brieres comeback already..
The Lightning have been surprising me actually they been doing well and Lindbach has proven useful thus far.
Devils as always have the best goalie to back them into any win

Total Awards: 3Missed the Ducks/Canucks game because I was out, but from what I've seen, the Canucks won 5-0. And apparently they said that Corey Perry is the sorest loser in the NHL on something. I'm not entirely sure why they said it, though I do think it's a little unprofessional.

Total Awards: 3Nice hit on Landeskog by Brad Stuart. That hit energized the Sharks to get a 4-0 win over the Avalanche. Marleau with 2 goals. Marleau has become the first player since Cy Denneny of the 1917-18 Ottawa Senators to have 4 multiple goal games at the start of the season (he's had 2 in every game so far). What was even better was that the game was 1) free on NHL.com, and 2) was on the day of my Birthday. Technically due to timezone differences, it was already the 27th here in NZ, but still...it made a great Birthday present.
Also, the Ducks managed to beat the Predators 3-2 in a shootout. It was a great game as well.
Oh, and before I forget...Scott Gomez nearly got a goal. Keyword - Nearly. But damn he was close.

Considering it came out before we even knew if there would be a season, you are probably right.
Not sure what to make of my Wild. They looked good the first couple games but it seems after these last 2 losses that:
1) They are having trouble keeping any type of lead.
2) That they like to give up goals quickly. A couple times the teams have scored 2 goals in roughly a 2 minute span. Really hoping it is something easily fixed and not somethig that is going to be a constant.
