The Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Discussion Thread

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is to be the 20th FIFA World Cup, an international association football tournament that is scheduled to take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014.

This will be Brazil second time they host the event with the first being the 1950 FIFA World Cup

    Official Logo

The logo is called "Inspiration", and was created by Brazilian agency Africa. The design stems from an iconic photograph of three victorious hands together raising the world's most famous trophy. As well as depicting the humanitarian notion of hands interlinking, the portrayal of the hands is also symbolic of the yellow and green of Brazil warmly welcoming the world to their country.

Ain't we getting a little bit ahead of time? There's well over a year left until it starts. Hell, even your table proves no one (excluding, obviously, Brazil) has officially classified yet.

Yeah your right Naglar, but at least New Zealand won the OFC qualifiers and they are like you say waiting for Round 4 of CONCACAF to finish to see who they will play their playoff match against which is many months down the road.

Do you like the new ADIDAS ball?

Brazil is going be the place to be for the next four years: A WC and Olympics. Last time I remember that happening back to back was in the US during 94-96...And it was great.

Thought having the WC in Brazil will be nuts. I'm really surprised they haven't had a WC in Brazil since 1950, that's a crime in my opinion. Wouldn't it be something if Brazil/Argentina was the final? The whole continent might explode.

Looks like you need my help--Again...

That'll never happen. Not because of Messi and his cohorts sucking against big teams, but because FIFA would never let them get close to the final, let alone win it. It'd be like seeing Uruguay reach the final (which is even more doubtful given how they're pretty not going to qualify). Why wouldn't they let it happen? Because it'd be the biggest backstab to Brazil ever. They'd be insane to let a team that Brazil has a strong rivalry with lift that cup at the Maracana, so they won't let it happen.

I think its because he wanted to be first to post the thread

Technically the World Cup has started with the qualifications as every team has to qualify except for the host. 2014 is the World Cup Finals.

I'm going to predict Brazil vs Spain in the final

Nagflar, would you say that your comment is similar to the 1998 Final between Brazil vs France (Host), IMO Brazil let France win! I am referring to the point that this time around Brazil are the host?!

Obviously. France had its fair share of good "luck" during 1998 (unrelated to their actual luck in 2000's Euro), just like England 1966 will always be remembered for having a bajillion refs making 'mistakes', including that Ghost Goal against (West) Germany in the final. We're talking about FIFA, it's in their blood to cheat and favor a team lol. Just like South Korea in 2002 against Spain. What a freaking robbery that was.

Well I can tell you that is one advantage Adidas has over Nike in being the official provider of game balls in world cups.

If you want to see the history check this out Adidas footballs for previous world cups
