Light as a Feather - God of War - Ascension
Hello all, and welcome to my checklist
My name is Brian, I'm 35 and live near Chicago IL. I have a wife and daughter, which along with work, take up most of my time, so I don't have much time to game, even though I've been a huge gamer since I was about 4. I do have a sliver of time each night in which to game, so I do get to experience my favorite past time each night
My first system was a Magnavox Odyssey 2, which I had when I was about 4. When I was about 10, I got a NES, and since then I've kept up with the current consoles, but never owned more than 2 at once I was loyal to the Nintendo brand up until the PS1 came out. I was a true fan of the Final Fantasy series, and switched to Sony when FF7 came out. Now I'm loyal to the playstation brand.... call me a Sony fanboy if you will.
Since I only have a small amount of time each day to partake in gaming, I do have a kind of rotation I put my games into. Its rather complicated, but my goal is to play a variety of games, and focus on those with multiplayer trophies.
Without further ado, here is my list
In order of appearance:
Date received: June 24th 2009
At the time, this was the only game I was working on. I had gotten a majority of the trophies quickly, minus the killing machine trophy. I made a goal of getting 25 kills per day, and on some days getting 100. In a few months, I had my very first
Date received: August 26th 2009
I loved this sandbox style game. This didn't take me as much time to complete as R2 did, but still I felt a huge accomplishment in getting this :platinium: On my 2nd playthru, I found all the shards, and had to start a 3rd playthru to get the Casey Jones trophy
Modern Warfare 2
Date received: August 21th 2010
Almost a full year later after my last , I earned this Of course my last trophy along with many others is the Star 69 trophy. I completed Wetworks veteran solo to complete this one Thanks to those who helped me in spec ops to get this
God of War
Date received: September 9th 2010
I never was much into hack and slash games, but for $20, I couldn't pass up this game (w/ GoWII). I loved this game after i started to play it. My biggest challenge was the I'll take the physical challenge trophy, but after a few times, I got it. The speed run trophy was a breeze after that.
Date received: September 14th 2010
Having a daughter, I am exposed to a lot of kid shows and movies, Disney Pixar's Up being one of them. I actually enjoyed the movie, and decided for less than $20 why not try out the game. I have to say it was a pleasant surprise.
God of War II
Date received: October 26th 2010
In line with the original, this was a great game! I thought overall it was a tad bit easier than the original, but the challenges were just as difficult. It was nice not to have to complete the challenges all at once, but still it proved to be challenging
Final Fantasy XIII
Date received: November 8th 2010
A very beautiful RPG, good story, and I don't care what anyone else says, good characters with awesome development. My huge issue with the game was the very linear game play. I loved the "side" missions L'Cie paragon trophy, but the Treasure hunter trophy was a pain!
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Date received: November 27th 2010
This has to be my favorite FPS so far! Good gameplay, awesome online community and gameplay. Overall epic awesomeness Got most of these trophies quickly, but took a while for the demo man and Multiplayer elite
Date received: Dec 12th 2010
Overall this game was good, not great, but good. I started out by getting famailar with the game mechanics, but wasn't difficult because I was use to the first Bioshock. I then grinded out all the multiplayer trophies, then completed the single player campaign twice
Medal of Honor
Date received: Dec 31st 2010
I thought this was a good game. I would compare this between a cross between MW2 and BF BC2. I realize that this was developed by the same people as BF BC2, but I felt the multiplayer had too many similarities as MW2. My last platinum of 2010
God of War III
Date received: Jan 23rd 2011
A great addition to the GoW series. Love the graphics and the gameplay. There was one challenge that was a thorn in my side, and I think I may have earned the up to the challenge trophy with the help of an accidental glitch in the Bare Hands fight.
Date received: Jan 24th 2011
For a game that was not very popular, I must admit I took a liking to this game. I loved the flow of the game, the gameplay and the mechanics. Multiplayer was awesome too! Also this was the quickest one I've earned, and the quickest one I've earned since my last (one day). I'd like to thank Bodigard for helping me get the ffa Multiplayer trophy
Date received: Mar 19th 2011
Absolutely brilliant game. FPS for the instant gratification, and contains RPG elements for those who are RPG fans
Date received: Apr 26th 2011
My wife got this game for me back in 2009. I didn't care much for the MP, but I concentrated on that until I got all the MP trophies. With a guide, all the collectibles were collected, and it made SP relatively easy. It was an OK game, with the SP being better than the MP
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Date received: May 13th 2011
I got this game from the bargain bin at Best Buy on the recommendation of UNOsfan. I got to admit, I felt that I let myself down by not getting this game earlier. 1st playthru was on Normal, got all the collectibles and weapon trophies, 2nd and 3rd playthrus were on Hard and Crushing respectively
Date received: July 22nd 2011
Hands down, a brilliant game that rivals its own original. This game was a natural buy for me, as I loved the Portal experience many moons ago. And as with many valve games, I was not let down in the slightest. Thanks to those who helped me with getting the various trophies, one member here in particular, Denaratuck. Even though we didn't get any trophies, I appreciate the attempt.
Date received: August 22nd 2011
I got this game as part of Sony's "I'm sorry, welcome back" package. I gotta admit this was a pretty fun, albeit somewhat repetitive, game. It reminded me of a semi-spoof of the Smash TV series a while back. Other than needing a guide to find all the collectables, this was a relatively easy
Date received: October 14th 2011
I highly anticipated this title. However, I have to say I was a little disappointed by this game. It was a great story, but the MP was lacking, made to feel like every other MP shooter. In my opinion, the trophies were too easy. The only trophies I needed a guide for was the all intel trophy, and the Juggler trophy. Otherwise, a very easy
Date received: December 25 2011
I loved the original InFAMOUS, so this game was a no-brainer for me. I have to admit that I liked this game better than the original. Although Sucker Punch didn't add too much as far as powers (though they did a good job with the new powers they did add) nor added much to the mechanics of the story, it did pan out to be a great game, and a great story. The UGC was done very well in my opinion.
Mass Effect 2
Date received: January 13 2012
I heard a lot of good things about this franchise prior to it coming out on the PS3, so I was naturally interested in it when the announcement was made of the release for the PS3. I was not disappointed in the least, other than the fact that I won't be able to play the first one on it. I did 2 playthrus, first romancing Miranda, and then the 2nd which was my insanity run, romancing Tali. I intended to keep the 2nd save for Mass Effect 3
Phineas & Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension
Date received: February 19 2012
Loving Saturday morning cartoons (a guilty pleasure of mine), and the fact this was anticipated as an easy I asked my wife for this game for Christmas. The game play was fun for a kids game, and if you've seen the movie, the game follows the premise of the movie somewhat, adding in several levels for fun. The overall experience was fun, and there was a very minor grind at the end of the game.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Date received: March 11 2012
Having played the first game, and having a few gift cards from Amazon, this game, costing me $.41 out of pocket was an awesome experience. I didn't play much MP, as I didn't think the experience was all that cracked up to be, but the SP campaigned was pure awesomeness. There were a few rough spots on Crushing, but overall it was easy.
Date received: April 05 2012
If one were to ask me what was the most unique experience gaming so far, Heavy Rain would be at the top of my list. With its unique gameplay and amazing story, Heavy Rain has definitely set the bar. My first play through involved mastering all the trials, and allowed everyone to the warehouse. Obviously this produce a good ending. However during the cleanup phase, I had to unlock all the bad endings, which although the stories were amazing and well written, they were gut wrenching at the same time. The last ending I needed was Tears in the Rain, which to me had to be the saddest ending in the game.
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Date received: May 1 2012
As a platinum hunter, a God of War fan, getting the Origins collection was a natual choice for me. This PSP original was a good game, albeit short. This had to be on of the easiest challenge modes for me with my experience of the GoW series. Overall a good game!
Call of Duty - Black Ops
Date received: Jun 19 2012
Overall, I thought this was a very good game. I love the "conspiracy/dark story" to this Call of Duty game. Although the game pissed me off at several points, with glitches and nearly impossible levels (executive order and S.O.G.), I manage to get all the trophies. The Zombie trophies were a pain too, but got a little help! Thanks TheGeneral09 and Snakebit10
Fallout: New Vegas
Date received: Jul 15 2012
Loved this game from start to finish! Loved Fallout 3, so this was a highly anticipated title. I actually loved the Hardcore mode a lot, as it forced somewhat of a realistic gamelay, where one had to manager sleep, food, water, and weight of almost all items. This took a while to , but it was enjoyable every step of the way.
God of War: Ghost of Sparta
Date received: Aug 02 2012
The last of 5 GoW games I've played, and it turned out to be a great game. Hard mode wasn't too difficult, and the challenges were relatively easy. I had a few challenges give me a little trouble, such as Unscathed, but after trying a few times, all was well. Overall a good game!
Mass Effect 3
Date received: Sep 01 2012
An awesome game. I had looked forward to Mass Effect 3 since finishing Mass Effect 2. I loved how your choices in the Mass Effect 2 made a difference in the gameplay of the 3rd game. I know there was a lot of talk and complaints about the ending, but I didn't see the problems myself. This was a very enjoyable experience, and the Insanity setting was made easy by a few tips from ant1th3515. Thanks bro!
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon
Date received: Oct 15 2012
I bought this game when I sold my house in 2011. I had some extra money left over, and it was between this and Duke Nuke'em. Overall, the game was OK. The game's dialog was very cheesy, corny, but I believe that was intended to be. The game mechanics were great, and for some instant gratification, the game does well. Trophy-wise, the game sucked. About 80% of the trophies were obtained in the first few weeks. The rest of them required grinding, so I spent A TON of time buying the weapons for the last trophy.
Just Cause 2
Date received: Nov 1 2012
I got this game as a free download being a PSN+ member. I have always loved open world, sandbox style games, and this game fit right into that. I had a lot of fun with this game during the time I did play this. The trophies attempt to keep the game a bit fresh, but it does eventually get repetitive, as the perfectionist trophy forces you to do the same thing over and over again, with a little bit of variety mixed in.
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Date received: Dec 3 2012
At first I was skeptical of another "-2" game, having played FF X and FF X-2 for the PS2 (I have to say I was disappointed with both.) However, playing this game was a great experience. Like the original, the game incorporated some great looking scenery, had a good combat system, and an overall entertaining story. My only complaint about the game is the overuse of the word "Kupo".
Date received: Jan 3 2013
Smashguy had told me about this game, how easy it was. I was skeptical at first, because I didn't care much for Crysis 2, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a better story than the first, although I had to get use to some of the gameplay mechanics (wasn't that much difficult than the first). Overall a very good game.
Date received: Feb 1 2013
Got this game back in 2009 as way to boost my plat count, and got frustrated with chapter 3. I decided that not having this platinum after years of letting it sit on my shelf wasn't a good thing, given how easy this plat should be. Overall, a less that stellar experience.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Date received: Mar 3 2013
Having been engrossed in the Uncharted franchise, this was a day one purchase, but I only had played some MP up until last a few months later after finishing Uncharted 2. The game play was pretty much the same as the past Uncharteds, the story was great, and the difficulty was slightly a bit easier than UC2. Overall a great experience, along with the rest of Uncharted.
Date received: Apr 1 2013
Since getting PSN+, I've been taking advantage of all the free full retail games offered, so Darksiders was an instant download. What I forgot a while back was that I had downloaded the demo and wasn't originally impressed. However this time around I enjoyed the game. It wasn't too difficult, and it ended up being a decent story.
Date received: May 2 2013
This was a great experience. I highly anticipated this game after playing Battlefield: Bad Company 1 and 2. Felt like a semi realistic shooter. I've also enjoyed other titles by DICE, so I wasn't let down here. The campaign seemed really easy. A few tricky trophies, but nothing that didn't take more than a few tries. The multiplayer was a grind, but an extremely fun experience as well.
I'd love to take this opportunity to thank Smashguy aka Hasan316 for his help! I couldn't have done this without you! You helped me w/ the Co op and 2 ribbons, which without, I wouldn't have gotten the
A small thanks to Denaratuck and Kerwan Rachet for joining me in some rounds of MP, boosting my XP as well!
The Walking Dead
Date received: Jun 1 2013
After hearing about this game on several podcasts, and seeing friends like Smashguy talk about this game, and finally it being discounted to PSN + members, I decided to get this. I wasn't disappointed in the least! Great game, very interactive, awesome story. As TWD fan, this was a great addition to all the media.
Spec Ops: The Line
Date received: Jul 1 2013
An excellent FPS. The gameplay mechanics of Spec Ops are pretty much typical of the genre, but where it pulls you in is the story. What you think as you start out in with a typical FPS mission turns into exploring the madness of hell soldiers go though. Although I got this as part of PSN+'s IGC, I'd highly recommend this title to anyone.
Overall the trophies weren't too difficult, save for the MFWIC trophy for playing this on the hardest difficulty setting, which can present a challenge.
Date received: Aug 1 2013
An epic sequel to an epic game. I got this game on release day, since I loved the original very much, and I have to say I wasn't disappointed in the least! I felt that this was a very well done game, and all aspects of the first were improved in this game. I'm actually kind of sad that I've gotten the platinum now, as I'll be moving onto different game.
A few shout outs
Smashguy - Thanks for the help grinding out some massive XP. You da man!
OOHighwayOO - Thank you so much for your help with Terramorphous
Saints Row: The Third
Date received: Sept 1 2013
Another title I got from PSN+'s IGC giveaway. Overall a good game. Years ago, I tried out the original title, and thought it was fun. I can say the same of 'The Third'. It was a fun and funny story, and the aspect of it being an open world game made it all the better. Overall the trophy difficulty wasn't bad at all, the most challening aspect being the challenges, which were more of a grind than anything.
A few shout outs
Kid420247 and SonofKID - Thanks for the help grinding out some of the challenges.
Modern Warfare 3
Date received: Oct 1 2013
Overall a good game. I have played every COD game since the original Modern Warfare, and after liking MW2, MW3 was a natural choice. The single player campaign was easy enough. Spec Ops did give me a little bit of trouble, but having the right help in a few missions, and some YouTube tutorials helped. I loved the survival mission addition, it was a lot of fun!
Thank you very much SMASHGUY for your help with the survival trophies and with some spec op missions! You are the best!
Date received: Nov 1 2013
I got this title from PSN+'s Instant Game Collection. I haven't played to many stealth based games, so this was a relatively new experience for me. I enjoyed the game immensely! One aspect of the game I enjoyed was the fact that each level of the game can be completed differently.
Thank you to Snakebit and Smashguy for helping me out with the Contracts portion of the game.
Date received: Dec 1 2013
After playing Just Cause 2, I wanted to have an experience like that again, and I thought that Sleeping Dogs would be similar. I had played some of it, and realized it was closer to a game like Saints Row or GTA with an open world gameplay style. However, I wasn't disappointed in the least! I thought this game was a very good one. It had a great story, the gameplay was smooth, and easy to understand, overall a great game.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
26 of 54 Trophies earned
I had a few of the Castlevania games for the NES. I thought it would be a sure by for me, and I wasn’t let down. I’m looking forward to more of this game.
Star Wars: The force unleashed II
46 of 59 Trophies earned
I like the concept of SW TFUII, but I think this game has fallen short of my expectations. The campaign is too short for my liking. *I may this game, but not a priority.
Medal of Honor: Frontline
28 of 46 Trophies earned
Since this was part of the Medal of Honor Limited Edition disc, I’ve decided to give this a try.
White Knight Chronicles

38 of 57 Trophies earned
I didn’t care for the demo when I tried it out, but I had $60 worth of certificates to spend and couldn’t find another game I was interested in. But since then, I found this game to be brilliant. This is on the horizon
Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope
11 of 47 Trophies earned
I like the story and the RPG aspect, but the game is a little too child like for me. Horrible voice acting, etc. With some of the very difficult trophies, I'm not sure I'm going to get the

Loved this game when it came out, and got a ton of trophies, but never could find the time to beat the extremely hard modes. Sold it a while back.

Call of Duty: World at War
24 of 65 Trophies earned
After about 2 years of having this game, I have given up. Its too glitch-y for me and way too hard.
