ABOUT ME
I'm a 31-year-old gamer from Central Scotland, living about halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I used to be a Sega gamer back in my youth, until I was 15, when my parents bought my brothers and I a Playstation at Xmas 1996. This converted me from the Sega stable to the House of Sony, and I've never owned (and barely even played) a non-Playstation console since then! Yep, I've never played an Xbox, a Wii, or anything else, and I've no plans to do so either. One console at a time is enough for me!
I'm in full-time employment, and enjoy drawing and painting in my spare time. I've been drawing pretty much from the moment my infant mind grasped the working properties of a crayon, and it's been a near-constant pastime ever since, with the occasional hiatus here and there.
I have some work up on DeviantArt; if you're interested, my page is:
the-pixellator on deviantART
I draw a lot of pixel art, mainly sprites from various properties such as games, comics, etc - you can see some of it on my DA page. I also make some money by painting canvases and wall murals for kids, though these typically take some time to complete.

Oh, and no making fun of my first plat - it was earned way back before I really started to give a crap about trophies, so it is in no way "trophy whoring"!It can hardly be considered "whoring" or "boosting my trophy count" if it was my first plat now, can it? Hm? Hmmm?

Toggle Spoiler I bought this game hoping it might actually be a half-decent adaptation of the film (which, incidentally, I hadn't seen at the time). Boy, was I wrong. It's hardly the worst game I've ever played (yeah CSI, I'm lookin' at you!), but it just fell far short of what a Terminator game could, and should, be. It was too short for one thing, and though there were one or two fairly decent battles, there really wasn't enough to make me want to replay it after earning the plat. What's surprising, though, is that I did actually play it through twice, as the plat wasn't earned until completion of my second playthrough! None of the trophies here were particularly challenging; the game was very easy, with only the odd area here and there presenting a bit of difficulty.

Toggle Spoiler I've been an X-Men fan for almost 20 years now, and was really looking forward to this game after playing X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge on the PS2 years ago. That game was quite good, but this one was a great representation of a Wolverine adventure - it was bloody, action-packed... oh, and bloody!
I had a lot of fun playing as the crazy Canucklehead, scampering around and gleefully hacking off enemy soldiers' arms, legs and heads every few seconds. There were some good combat moves to unlock, there were many violent ways to dispose of enemies, from impaling them on tree branches, to throwing them off cliffs, to simply decapitating them! The boss battle with the 200-foot Sentinel was epic stuff, and the collectible dog tags weren't too hard to find, except for a few that were very well hidden.
Trophies were straightforward enough, though some grinding was required in order to kill 2,000 enemies and to level up all Mutagens. I had a fairly hard time defeating Deadpool on Hard difficulty though.![]()

Toggle Spoiler The original Tomb Raider was one of the first PS1 games I ever played, and I've remained a fan of the series to this day. I enjoy these types of games, where you have expansive levels that are designed to encourage exploration, and which feature puzzle-solving and platforming. Underworld may not be the best TR game, but I still enjoyed it. True, it's on the short side, but graphically it was fairly impressive, and it had some interesting Norse mythology interwoven throughout Lara's quest to obtain Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. The giant spiders were some freaky customers, the sharks gave me a little trouble initially until I remembered the harpoon gun, and the Treasure Hunt mode was a nice way to collect any missed treasures without having to totally replay each level.
The only trophy I couldn't get initially was Swan Diver II, which must have glitched on me at first - I performed the dive some 15 or 20 times, to no avail. Then I returned to the game after a while, attempted it again, and it popped on my second try, followed by Master Swan Diver and the platinum.

Toggle Spoiler I enjoyed the first Assassin's Creed, despite its repetitive nature and lack of mission variety, so I was overjoyed to find that its sequel improved upon it in virtually every conceivable way. Ezio was a more interesting character than Altair, the cities and countryside of Italy looked stunning, combat was much improved.... and there was actually a point to hunting down the collectibles! Almost every mission was different, which avoided the repetition of the first game. The storyline was suitably grand, and it was nice to see Desmond and Lucy take a more active role, rather than just walking around and talking. I sometimes spent hours just walking around Florence or Venice, just taking in the spectacular sights and noticing little things I hadn't seen before, or pickpocketing unsuspecting passersby and blending into the crowd without being noticed. Rebuilding Monteriggioni was a nice touch - shame it wasn't to last....
This quickly became my favourite game on PS3 at the time, and to this day it still ranks as one of my all-time favourite games.

Toggle Spoiler First off, the graphics. This has to be one of the most graphically impressive titles ever made. Honestly, I know of few other games that can even compare to it.
I downloaded the Heavy Rain demo before buying it, and thought it was an interesting concept; I'd never played a game that utilised such a different control system. It took a little getting used to, but I quickly got the hang of it, and found myself immersed in a compelling tale about 4 diverse characters who would ordinarily have probably never met, and the subsequent events that draw them all together. The game revolves around the premise of "how far would you be prepared to go for love?", and follows one character (Ethan) as he is forced to prove just how far he is willing to go in order to save his young son. The characters look simply astounding, especially in the loading screens; as close to real-life as I've ever seen. The 18 potential endings took a while to unlock, though!

There were some classic games from my youth on here (Sonic, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Ecco, and so on), plus a shedload of games I'd never played before (Phantasy Star, Sonic 3-D, Super Thunder Blade, etc). Some of these games were actually harder than many of todays' games, mainly due to the characters being unable to take more than one blow before being killed. The graphics were rubbish even by early PS2 standards - you'd have thought they'd at least try to make it look somewhat presentable! Toggle Spoiler I'm no stranger to this kind of action/adventure/exploration game. Uncharted was the first separate game I bought for my PS3, and what a cracking game it is! I played it three times through before the trophy patch was released, and after I'd downloaded that, I played it through another three times, making this (in terms of number of playthroughs), my most-played PS3 game to date. It's very impressive graphically and gameplay-wise, Drake is a likeable and cocky protagonist, and Elena made a great cute sidekick and love interest. Victor 'Goddamn!' Sullivan was interesting as the friend who (at first) may or may not be all he seems to be. The island was suitably vast, with ample treasures to find, and firefights by the truckload around almost every corner. Platforming was simple enough, with a few puzzles thrown in to keep things interesting, and the Spanish Descendants towards the game's end, although easy to kill, were dangerous if they got too close to you.
I had a great deal of fun playing through this game (all 6 times!), and Crushing Mode was exactly that - there were several areas that saw me die many times before I finally got through them. It was a great relief when I finally finished it and got the last two trophies!

There was plenty of humour to entertain kids and adults alike - you have to love fighting a boss whose primary attack consists of breaking wind!
The storyline is simple - Hiro the ninja has to rescue his friends and defeat the evil Samurai Warlord, to restore order and peace to the land. The graphics are quite cartoony, to appeal to the kids, combat is simple but fun, and there are a fair number of secret statues and trapped animals to find. I had fun playing this, and I just had to laugh every time I heard a samurai shout "NININININININJJJJAAAAA!!!!!"![]()

Toggle Spoiler Ah, Ghostbusters. I loved (and still love) the two GB movies from the 80s, and this game does a stellar job as acting as the third instalment in the series. Almost all the original cast (minus Sigourney weaver and Rick Moranis) return for voiceover and likeness duties, and as it was written by Ramis and Aykroyd, it really does feel like a Ghostbusters movie.
The game plays very well, and I had a lot of fun with it. Although there are just eight levels, each one is very large, and features the return of famous ghosts such as Slimer, Stay Puft, and the Librarian. You play the role of the new Rookie assigned to the team, and are almost always accompanied by 2 or more of the GB team, so teamwork is key to defeating the bosses and progressing.
Multiplayer was good fun as well, but could be annoying when the servers took several minutes to update your stats between matches. Also, your wins are not tracked, so you have to keep a note of everything you've completed. Overall though, a very fun game - I definitely recommend it!
It's a shame that the servers have been shut down now, though - anyone who doesn't already have this platinum now has no chance of ever getting it.![]()

Toggle Spoiler Following the somewhat lacklustre TF: ROTF game, War For Cybertron proved to be a very fun and immersive Transformers game. It was great to have a game that was set entirely on Cybertron as opposed to Earth, and I liked the new designs for the characters. The game looks visually stunning - the environments are amazing, the Transformers themselves move very fluidly, and transformations look excellent. And, being able to play as Megatron and Optimus Prime right from the start is a definite plus!
Being able to play the campaign solo or in co-op is a nice touch, and it was interesting to see Optimus undertake his ascension to Prime status.
Multiplayer was an enormous grind, but was also good fun. Most trophies were straightforward enough; the one for placing first in a MP match was earned by sheer chance, as these types of trophies usually are. I earned all MP trophies without any boosting whatsoever, which I was pleased about!

Toggle Spoiler Ah, the continuation to the utterly superb ACII! I enjoyed this game very much, being a big fan of the AC series. Being limited to just one city this time round was a slight disappointment, but I still had fun exploring it. It was a little sad seeing Monteriggioni reduced to rubble after restoring it to its former glory in ACII, but being able to rebuild Rome helped to compensate for it! Being able to recruit and train your own band of Assassins was a great addition, and they proved more than useful in several combat situations! It was also interesting to be able to play a little more as Desmond and see him develop his own skills. And that ending - a cliffhanger if ever there was one!
The multiplayer wasn't perfect, but considering it was Ubisoft's first attempt at a full-on MP experience, they did a good job. There were some fun items and weapons to unlock as I levelled up, and some of the stealth kill animations were quite creative. The biggest downer about the MP was all the idiot n00bs who kept running across the roofs and killing everyone in high profile. That's not how to play AC, fools - learn the 'rules' or go back to Call Of Duty.

It was a fairly fun game; not difficult, some humour to keep things ticking over, and two cute little robots. Some grinding was involved in order to collect 1,000,000 credits, but it didn't take too long. It's a 2-player co-op game, so you need a partner to help you complete it, but it's quite short, so it's easily done. This was surprisingly good fun for a game aimed primarily at kids - it was fun to see a humorous Lego take on the Indy movies. There's absolutely tons of stuff to do in the game; vehicles to build, characters to unlock, power-up bricks to find, races and bonus treasure levels to complete - the list goes on and on! The level editor was a nice touch; I created a couple of levels in it whilst buying all the items required to count towards the 100% completion status. Some of the trophies glitched on me, but in a good way - for instance, the trophies for completing all 10 bonus levels in a Hub often popped up after I'd beaten just 8 of them!
Overall, this was fun to play, and a nice change from the norm.

Toggle Spoiler This turned out to be an excellent game. I bought it after reading numerous positive reviews, and I quickly became addicted to it! The game looks phenomenal, owing to its use of the Unreal Engine - the environments and characters are nothing short of superb. It's a genuine shame that this game is so underrated and was overlooked by so many people; it really deserves to be more widely recognised.
Gameplay was really good fun - platforming was simple and straightforward, combat was fluid and exciting, and you're encouraged to explore every last nook and cranny of every level to find all the collectible Tech Orbs (all 1600+ of 'em!) and Masks. There are only 3 human characters in the whole game, but the relationships between them play out very well - Monkey and Pigsy play off each other well and provide some good laughs, and Pigsy's attempt to hit on Trip is worth playing the game for in its own right!
Some of the trophies here were pretty challenging, especially the two for rescuing Trip from the Dog and the Rhino within a strict time limit. Also, the Kebabed trophy, for killing 3 enemies with a single shot, gave me a lot of trouble - it took me many attempts to finally get it. I had to do a fair bit of grinding as well, to earn enough Orbs to fully level up all Monkey's stats, but since the game looks so beautiful and is fun to play, grinding was never a dull point.
If you've never played this game, I wholeheartedly recommend you do so!

Toggle Spoiler I didn't start playing this until a little over 4 months after I got it! But from the moment I did start it, I was hooked. RDR looks fantastic in every way - the Wild West setting is amazing, and John Marston has become one of my favourite PS3 characters, up there with the likes of Nathan Drake and Ezio Auditore.
This game is so expansive and so immersive that it takes a hell of a long time to achieve 100% completion in the game. There's just so much to do aside from the story missions, from picking flowers to killing a grizzly bear with just your knife (!), that I spent many hours doing it all, determined to attain 100%, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The missions were good fun, the story was excellent and played out very well, and I never felt let down by any area of the game. It's a sure sign of a game's excellence when it can keep you coming back to the single-player side of it even after you've beaten literally every last challenge it can throw at you. Sometimes I just ride around on my horse and do nothing more than take in the stunning scenery - that's how beautiful this game is.
Multiplayer is just as fun as the SP game, and is interesting in that you can do much of the MP work by yourself, without the need (or intervention) of other players. Virtually everything you do in MP earns you XP for levelling up, from simply walking around to clearing out Gang Hideouts, which all helps towards the goal of reaching level 50. Many people found the Posse Up! trophy to be hard work, but I got it within 30 minutes, and with little fuss - maybe I just got lucky!
I'm working away at some of the DLC trophies as well, and will get started on Undead Nightmare soon.

Toggle Spoiler As much as I love the first Uncharted game, Uncharted 2 truly blows it out of the water. This game is undoubtedly a masterpiece - it's so epic that few games short of MGS4 can equal it. It and its predecessor are two games that I will never, ever part company with.
I had/have tremendous fun playing through this; it had me utterly gripped from start to finish. The story is fantastic and much grander than before, spanning multiple locations, whereas UC1 was confined to just one island. There were some fun new weapons to play with (such as the RPG and the GAU-19), 'boss' fights against a helicopter and a tank, cool new 'monsters' - and the return of Elena Fisher! Drake himself is just as cocky and likeable as before, Victor "Goddamn!" Sullivan is back (albeit in a much smaller role, sadly), and Drake's feisty old flame Chloe Frazer is even along for the ride. Lazarevic made for a better villain than Roman and Navarro, I reckon, and at least there was a proper battle against him, as opposed to having 2 QTE cutscenes against Navarro. The majority of the trophies were the same as in UC1, but that was fine with me - none of them were too difficult, except for Crushing Mode, and even that was much easier than it was in the first game. And no, I never even considered using any tweaks; I beat Crushing the honest way.
I didn't play much of the multiplayer until I'd bought the two DLC expansion packs - it can be difficult to find a game sometimes, but it's good fun when I do get into a game. Co-Op is challenging, but great fun when I'm playing with friends and communicating with them via headsets.

Toggle Spoiler Bought the full version of this after playing the demo, and I must admit I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I never played the original Alien Breed games back in the day, so had little idea what they were about, but I quickly took to this instalment, and downloaded the 2 sequels so I could start them after platting this. The game looks graphically impressive, as it utilises the Unreal Engine, and plays very well, I think. It induces a feeling of claustrophobia, as you're trapped on board a self-destructing spaceship and have to navigate dark, narrow corridors and small rooms, all the while being attacked by hordes of aliens. You can purchase ammo, medikits, upgrades and so on using Credits collected throughout the level, there are more powerful weapons to be located, and Logs that provide information about the aliens you encounter and how best to deal with them. There are only 5 levels, but each one is very large and suitably complex in layout, with multiple objectives to be fulfilled and gradually stronger aliens to be killed.
It plays somewhat similarly to Dead Nation, which is another game I intend to plat sometime. The game ends on a cliffhanger that leads directly into the second game, Alien Breed 2: Assault, which I've already started working on. This is shaping up to be a fun little trilogy of games.

Toggle Spoiler Resistance: Fall Of Man was one of the 2 games that I got together with my first PS3, and although I'm not normally a fan of FPS games, I enjoyed it - it was very good and the Chimera looked great! After I'd finished it, I eventually got hold of R2 and played through the single-player campaign, but barely touched the multiplayer - the daunting online trophies put me off playing that side of the game for a long time; 10,000 Competitive kills just sounded utterly unobtainable! But eventually, I picked it up again and gave it a shot, and after some time, I found that I wasn't doing too badly. I started racking up kills in every match, and playing a couple of Co-Op missions every day whenever possible, and soon found myself making reasonable progress. So I kept at it, and eventually scored a huge number of free kills off the servers, which helped a great deal!
The Co-Op campaign took me 46 hours to fully level up, and I was overjoyed when it, and the MP work in general, was finally over. Then I went back and replayed the game on Superhuman to get OMGWTFBBQ and the Platinum, and that was that!
I did have fun playing the game, but I've put so much time into it now, that I'm unlikely to play it again for a very long time!![]()

Toggle Spoiler Better than the ROTF game, I thought, but hardly as fun as WFC was. I hadn't seen the Dark Of The Moon film when I played this, so there was a slight worry that the game would potentially spoil the film for me, but as it turned out, this is set before the movie, so it didn't matter in the end.
I got the MP trophies out of the way first, for fear that the MP community would quickly die out and thereby make it harder to get these trophies. Thankfully, the levelling up requirements were drastically reduced from those of WFC, so I got that done very quickly. A few weeks later, I played the rest of the game, and though it was hardly amazing, I thought it was a reasonable enough movie tie-in. There are just 7 levels, but, aside from the Optimus Prime level, which is essentially a prolonged boss fight, they were all fairly large and packed full of enemies, with various symbols to be found and shot for the collectibles trophy. A couple of levels provided some variation, such as employing stealth or being unable to transform or use ranged weapons, but by and large, each level was made up of getting from A to B and killing everyone who got in your way.
I bought the Sideswipe character for use in multiplayer, as I had some spare credit on my account, but I wish a few more characters or maps would be released to keep things interesting.
Oh well. Guess I'll have to wait until Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron for that!![]()

Toggle Spoiler I saw some YouTube videos of this game and thought it looked quite interesting; it seemed like a nice change of pace, and definitely offered something new and fresh. I ordered it online (as it was never released in Europe), and quickly got into it. The total lack of (spoken) dialogue might put many players off somewhat, but it didn't really bother me. The graphics and animal models in the game look very realistic, and sometimes the animal you're trying to photograph will take a good while to actually do the action you need it to, so patience is definitely required for this game; it's not going to be a quick one-day platinum! There were a couple of animals that I spent a good deal of time trying to find while unaware that they wouldn't actually spawn until I received an email which would trigger the animals in question, so some time was wasted there!
I'd recommend this game to people - it's not going to be to everyone's tastes, but if you're looking for something relaxing and genuinely different, then you could do a lot worse.

Although I had fun playing through the game, I did notice a couple of differences from the PS2 game, which leads me to believe that this was ported from the seemingly superior PC/X-box version of the game. It still played just as I remembered, although I'd forgotten how annoying it could be to have to put down a body you were carrying just to open a door, then pick the body up again and carry it into the room so you could hide it!
My biggest problem lay not with the game itself, but with the trophies. The vast majority of them popped just fine for me, including the infamous Urban Legend which seemed to elude so many gamers; but the ones that gave me severe grief were Cyber Warfare and Field Agent. I fulfilled the criteria for both these trophies nearly 5 times over, but they stubbornly refused to pop for me. In a fit of desperation, I backed up my save, deleted the on-system save and uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it and started again.... and after rinsing and repeating the first area of the Defence Ministry level 22 times, I finally had them both, and the much-coveted platinum. After all the trouble they gave me, I wasn't even pleased to finally get them; I just felt relieved that I no longer had to incessantly grind for two stupid bronzes.
Anyway, griping aside, I still enjoyed the game, and am now close to platting SC Pandora Tomorrow.

It has several new features over the first game that improve it, such as the ability to open doors without having to set down the body you're carrying, and being able to whistle to lure enemies into an ambush. The train level was the shortest level in any SC game if memory serves, and completing it in under 15 minutes for a trophy wasn't a problem. I had to finish the game 3 times in all - first time round, I just completed the game as normal without trying to fulfil any special criteria, then I replayed on Normal and focused on getting no alarms, using no medikits, and not using the primary fire of the SC-20K. Finally, I played on Hard and made sure I never died, to unlock the last 2 gold trophies and the platinum. I actually did die at one point, but I was using the USB method of backing up my saves as a precaution, so I just reloaded my save from there, which wasn't too far back, and continued on without dying again.
Thankfully, none of the trophies glitched on me this time round - they all popped when they were supposed to, which saved me a lot of grief!![]()

Toggle Spoiler I've been a Command & Conquer fan since the early days of C&C1 way back on PS1. I played the 2 immediate sequels, Red Alert and Retaliation, and dabbled briefly in Tiberian Sun for the PC, but Red Alert 3 was my return to one of my favourite series from yesteryear. It has a fairly steep learning curve, as the sheer number of tactical options at the players' disposal is a little overwhelming at first, and when you factor in the many different ways there are to potentially win (or lose!) each match, you realise that RA3 is anything but an easy, simple game.
The game is fairly easy when played on the Easy difficulty, as you'd expect, but when you ratchet up the difficulty to Hard, or further still to Brutal (which is only available in the Skirmish maps), you're truly in for some tough times. The AI is relentless in its onslaught, and as they can amass more credits per Ore collection than you can, your tactical skills and micromanagement abilities will really be put to the test. I had to replay some missions numerous times in order to successfully pass them in the manner required to fulfil all mission objectives. The cut-scenes feature live-action cast members, as is C&C tradition, and are as tongue-in-cheek and downright cheesy as ever.Tim Curry in particular really hams it up and is clearly having fun doing so! At the end of the day, the C&C series has never taken itself too seriously, and it's good to see that reflected in this game.
Aside from the 27 campaign missions, which can be done in single-player or via online co-op (which is required for the platinum), there are a further 27 Skirmish maps that have no story attached and can be played any way you want. There are also 9 AI commanders for you to fight against throughout the game, as well as many, many different infantry units and vehicles/aircraft/seacraft to master. So, all in all, this game kept me occupied for a long time - over a year in fact!![]()

Toggle Spoiler And so we come again to the excellent Assassin's Creed series - my second favourite PS3 series, after the almighty Uncharted franchise.
I played through the MP side of the game first, as I find myself tending to do nowadays with games that feature MP trophies. The online community is still full of idiots who storm around in high profile and generally spoil the experience for the "proper" players, but on those occasions when I actually got into a match with experienced players, I enjoyed testing my mettle against other people.
The single-player game was, I thought, a nice way to wrap up Ezio's saga while simultaneously setting the stage for the next chapter of Desmond's journey. I was initially unsure about Ubisoft's decision to shift the action from Italy to Turkey, but I actually found Constantinople to be a very attractive city, up there with the likes of Rome and Venice. The hookblade was a great new addition to Ezio's arsenal, and certainly came in handy when scaling buildings or breaking my fall! Crafting bombs was another nice touch, and was very useful for distracting or killing guards while remaining undetected. The overall 100% sync requirements were definitely easier than those in AC Brotherhood, and thankfully the multiplayer requirements were downscaled too, so reaching MP Level 20 didn't take anywhere near as long as reaching Level 50 in Brotherhood.
I did wonder what had happened to characters from Ezio's previous games, such as Macchiavelli, who was never mentioned in AC:R - what became of him? I also felt the graphics weren't quite up to the standard of the two previous games, although they were by no means poor.
It goes without saying, but........... bring on Assassin's Creed III!!![]()

Toggle Spoiler I first played the original Worms on PS1 way back in the day, and thought it was great fun - the gameplay was fun and the humour in the game was spot-on. When I saw Worms 2: Armageddon on sale in the PSN Store for a reasonable price one day in early 2011, I bought it, and after playing just a couple of missions, I practically fell in love with Worms all over again!
This game was great fun almost from beginning to end. Sure, there were some frustrating missions that killed me many times before I finally beat them, but I still had fun playing. The speech banks are very funny, and hearing the worms' reactions to being injured, or killed, or whatever else, rarely fails to get a giggle out of me.The single-player campaign features 30 missions that start off very easy and become very tough toward the end. Once you beat level 30, there are 5 further missions to unlock and beat before you truly finish the campaign. Missions include standard deathmatches and time-restricted puzzles, with various extra factors thrown in, such as minimum health for your worms and maximum health for the enemy worms. The multiplayer is also incredible fun, with an essentially infinite number of potential landscapes and ways to win - no two matches will EVER be the same! Grinding out the 68 ranked online wins was a drag, so I ended up boosting many of them - thanks to RedBullLordy for his invaluable help!
I've also earned some of the 48 DLC trophies for Worms 2, and will try to earn some more as time goes by, though I'm not sure if I'll manage to 100% the game. I'll try, though!

Toggle Spoiler I enjoyed the first Alien Breed, so I was hoping that the sequels would be just as good. In terms of gameplay, AB2 isn't really that different from AB1 - levels still consist of going from A to B, fulfilling a set objective, and generally killing everything in your way, although sometimes it's easier to simply run past a horde of aliens whenever possible. There are no new aliens to fight (not that I can recall, anyway), other than the two bosses, but that's not really a bad thing. The weapons are also still the same as before, as the game is just a continuation of AB1, rather than a true sequel. There were some hairy moments during the game, especially during the Elite speed run, but I made it through with just a minimum of hassle, so things didn't get too bad.
The multiplayer trophies were definitely tougher this time round. My first Co-Op speed run of the Cargo level took 13 minutes as we were just getting a feel for the level; then we immediately replayed it and got our time down to slightly over 6 minutes, which was pretty good given that we were on a 10-minute time limit.Playing through Cargo again and trying not to take any damage was fairly hard, but we both pulled it off in the end. Completing a co-op level without firing a single shot was a little tricky, but one of us would be the 'meat sack' and take all the damage while killing everything, while the other hung back the whole time and didn't dare touch the Fire button!
Overall, I enjoyed this game, and hopefully part 3 will end the trilogy on a high note.![]()

Toggle Spoiler Well, the Alien Breed trilogy has been completed, and I have to say I've had a lot of fun playing these games. I reckon AB3 was better than AB2, though perhaps not quite as fresh as AB1 was - by the time I'd started AB3, I'd already played two other games consisting of almost exactly the same stuff. But that's not to say that it got boring doing it all 3 times. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for newer types of aliens with each successive game, but the aliens that did appear managed to keep me on my toes. The games were never especially difficult - certainly not as difficult as Dead Nation seems to be - although there were a few hairy moments!
The Survivor maps that featured in AB2 and AB3 are actually really good fun, especially in co-op mode - trying to survive as long as possible against ever-increasing hordes of aliens, and trying to hold out until your dead partner revives can be frenetic fun! The Co-Op Assault maps are also fun to play; they use maps from the main games, but give you new objectives to accomplish, new routes to follow and new enemy spawn points to keep you on your toes - if you're going to play these, you really will need a boosting partner, as the online community for AB games is totally dead, sadly.

Toggle Spoiler Ah, Metal Gear Solid.... quite possibly my favourite game series of all time. I played these games all the time on PS2, and was overjoyed when I heard that MGS2 and 3 were receiving HD makeovers for a PS3 release. I decided to attempt to make the MGS3 platinum my 30th platinum and 2,000th trophy, and luckily I managed to accomplish both goals, so the plat is a double landmark for me!
MGS3 was every bit as excellent as I remember it being when I played it on PS2 - it may be somewhat dated by today's standards, but that didn't bother me one little bit. I had great fun playing through it again, remembering where items were located, recalling enemy patrol routes, and replaying that amazing sniper battle against The End... good times indeed. The trophies were all pretty easy, with only the one for shooting all 64 Kerotans giving me any trouble - I didn't get it until my 3rd playthrough, and it popped when I shot a Kerotan that I know for a fact I'd shot on both previous games, so that trophy must have glitched on me, although I've read no reports of it being glitched. Regardless, I love the game so much that having to play it 3 times over was perfectly fine by me!
Anyway, as I said, I had great fun replaying and falling in love with this excellent game all over again - anyone who's yet to play MGS3 is truly missing out on one of PS2's best-ever titles. I'm planning to play MGS Peace Walker soon, as I've never played it before, and then I'll play the other Solid Snake titles again in chronological order - it's been too long since I last played MGS 1, 2 and 4!

Toggle Spoiler I'd been tempted to buy Crysis from the PS Store for some time, and when I saw it at half price early this year, I decided to go for it, as I'd heard some good things about it from friends who'd played it. It took me a little while to get used to using the cloak and shield effectively, but once I'd sussed them out, I found the game to be quite enjoyable. I started out on Delta difficulty, as seems to be widely recommended for the game, and overall it was pretty easy... although the final boss on the end level utterly destroyed me for nearly 3 hours straight before I finally beat it by sheer luck! To say I was getting frustrated would be a major understatement!
Graphically, Crysis looks stunning - the varying landscapes are a joy to behold. There were many decent weapons to be had, ranging from standard pistols to alien superweapons, all with their pros and cons, so some tactical judgement was needed with regards to which weapons I should carry at any given time. There were plenty of opportunities to bypass enemies completely, thanks to the stealth cloaking, which helped to save time, ammo, and patience!
Overall, this was a fun FPS, and only the 2nd one that I've platinumed! I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

Toggle Spoiler Holy shit, Naughty Dog have utterly outdone themselves here. Uncharted 3 truly is everything I'd hoped it would be, and then some. A lot of people felt it was a disappointing sequel to UC1 and 2, but not me - I loved literally every minute of this game, from start to finish, and had no problems with playing it through 3 times. First time was on Normal and just earning whatever trophies came naturally, 2nd time was to collect the remaining treasures and farm the weapon/combat trophies, and finally came Crushing Mode... which actually wasn't too bad, save for a few frustrating areas.
Graphically, the game is a veritable force of nature - it looks utterly astounding. The set pieces (the French chateau, the exploding cargo plane, the lost city, etc) are truly epic, and I really can't see how ND can possibly top them if they ever decide to make Uncharted 4. Online, the Co-Op Arena mode is great fun when you're teamed with 2 other competent players - I prefer the Co-Op modes to the Competitive ones. I'm currently at level 23, but I'm going to level up some more; it's great fun.
The majority of the trophies are the same as in the previous games, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, though it's nice to see some new trophies as well, such as Combat Leapfrog and Reload Master for the sake of some diversity.
I'm pleased to have platted the Uncharted trilogy - they've been outstanding games, and I can see myself playing each of them for years to come.![]()

Toggle Spoiler Trine was an interesting and charming little game, I found. Graphically, it's very impressive, and the 3 playable characters offered diversity, though I found the Thief to be the best one overall. This game would be a collectible-hater's nightmare - there are dozens of objects to collect on every level, from secret objects such as talismans and health/energy potions, to experience bottles that are used to level up the characters. All the enemies are skeletons, save for a few ogres that are scattered throughout various levels, and they're all easily killed, even on Very Hard difficulty. Speaking of which, Trine has probably one of the easiest Very Hard (or equivalent) difficulties that I've ever played in a game. The enemies are no tougher than on Easy, though they do inflict more damage on you than usual - 4 good hits from them and you'll die; but overall it was a breeze. I flew through levels 1 to 14 on Very Hard within just a few hours.... and then had my ass well and truly handed to me when I attempted to beat level 15 without dying! It took me many, many, MANY tries before I finally got it - I'm never playing that level on Very Hard again!
Other than that, all the trophies were fairly easy; I can't believe how many silver trophies this game offered! Kind of reminds me of the Assassin's Creed games, where every 3rd trophy is a silver!![]()

Toggle Spoiler Chaos Theory was the first SC game I ever played, and I really enjoyed it - it was a true test of patience, attempting to avoid or defeat enemies who could blow you away within seconds due to your inability to withstand much damage. Sticking to the shadows and sneaking to within a couple of feet of someone without being detected was exciting stuff, and made for a nice change from the plethora of action games available at the time. Happily, the game is almost exactly as I remember it. I say almost because some of the levels, notably the Lighthouse level, are somewhat different from the PS2 version that I played before, so I had to stay on my toes whenever I entered an area that was new to me, which helped keep things interesting. Graphically, it's definitely the most impressive of the trilogy; the remastered lighting and texturing effects look very good, given how old the game is. All the SC-20K's best gadgets were fun to play with again, and sometimes I'd aim to complete a level using only the Knife and no firearms, for a little extra challenge.
The majority of trophies were straight-forward enough. A lot of people reportedly had the Immune trophy glitch on them in all 3 games, but I got them all without any problems. The Blackops Specialist trophy gave me a headache though - when I beat the game on Expert difficulty, as it requires you to do, the trophy failed to pop. So I reloaded my last save and beat the game again, and then again (this has been known to solve the problem for other players). Still nothing. So I had to play the game through for a 4th time! I just ran through it this time, without caring about my mission rating or fulfilling every objective - and this time the trophy appeared for me. Other than that, though, I had good fun replaying this great game again.![]()

Toggle Spoiler Not a bad game this, given that it's a movie tie-in. The game's combat has clearly taken extensive cues from the Batman games, but that's hardly a bad thing - you can engage multiple opponents simultaneously, or take down the most dangerous one and leave the goons till later. Gameplay is reasonably engaging, incorporating the aforementioned combat, acrobatics, exploration and a little puzzling to keep you busy. There are collectibles literally everywhere - dossiers, briefcases, film reels, ceramic eggs (!) and more - but luckily that kind of thing doesn't put me off playing a game. Amassing XP as the game progresses unlocks a series of 10 challenge rooms, which focus on either combat or acrobatics, and occasionally combining the two. Completing all 10 rooms within the time limit rewards you with Cap's comic costume.
The graphics are reasonable, if not astounding, and Chris Evans provides likeness and voiceover duties. Unlike the Captain America film, where the antagonist was the Red Skull, the game's primary antagonist is Baron Zemo, the Skull's chief scientist in the film. The Skull himself only makes occasional appearances in cut-scenes. I was disappointed that the game doesn't allow you to fight him, but oh well - maybe in the next game!![]()

Toggle Spoiler Like I said in the Wolverine review, I've been an X-Men fan for almost 20 years now, and I had high hopes for this game when I heard it was in development. I bought it at the same time as Captain America, and to be honest, the game is fairly good, but it's not quite what it could have been. You get to choose one of three mutants who only discover their powers at the beginning of the game, and it's a nice touch being able to progress with them and develop their powers in whichever way you choose - you can upgrade certain aspects of their powers to customise them to your preferred playing style. I chose the sports jock and used the Density Control abilities so I could basically beat the crap out of the many goons in my way. Having the option to side with either Cyclops and the X-Men or Magneto and the Brotherhood gives a little more freedom to the player, even if the differences between either path are minimal at best.
Dialogue scenes feel a little stiff, with characters more or less just standing there and occasionally gesturing their arms to emphasise a point. It's somewhat disappointing that you don't get the opportunity to actually play as the X-Men themselves - players will want to be able to control Wolverine, or Colossus, or whoever, rather than some all-new characters that were created especially for the game. Still, despite these negativities, the game is still enjoyable enough, and I will play through it again with a new character and different set of powers.

Toggle Spoiler I bought The Saboteur after reading numerous positive reviews of it, since I was looking for another good open-world, sandbox game that wasn't GTA IV. I don't think I'd ever played a game with an Irish protagonist before, and the WWII Paris setting sounded appealing. After the second mission or so, I was essentially hooked on the game. It obviously borrows heavily from GTA, but manages to include enough new ideas to differentiate it from GTA. In GTA for example, you can walk around the streets carrying a firearm in plain view and the police won't bat an eyelid, but here, the Nazis will instantly react if they see you carrying a weapon. Not many games of this type manage to include stealth - it makes for a nice change being able to sneak into a Nazi base, assassinate a General, blow shit up, then steal a disguise and casually stroll out the front gate by hiding in plain sight.
There are many different vehicles to be collected and stored for later use; you can access any previously saved vehicle from your garage, so if you need a tank to help you assault a compound, just go get it! If you hate your collectibles/side quests, this game may not be for you - there are a little over 1,300 of them in this game! These range from assassinating generals, to collecting crates of contraband, to sabotaging sniper towers and fuel silos, and many more.
Overall, The Saboteur is great fun, and I definitely recommend it... even if the platinum title is a bit daft!![]()

Toggle Spoiler I'd been meaning to buy JC2 for some time, and when it was offered as a freebie on PS+, I downloaded it there and then! I had a great deal of fun playing through this, despite the cheesy plot and ridiculous voice acting. The open-world map measures some 400 square miles, so there's a HUGE amount of exploration to be done - I still haven't been to every village or outpost. Graphically, the world looks amazing; the fields, jungles and oceans all make for a welcome break from the likes of GTA IV, where virtually everything is coloured gray. JC2 never takes itself too seriously, whether it's the hilarious dialogue and voiceovers, or whether you're driving a motorbike along the freeway and then firing your grappling hook at the car in front, then hijacking it and driving it over a cliff and then escaping by deploying your parachute and gliding several hundred meters to the ground! It's all nonsense of course, but it's great fun nonetheless.
It did begin to drag a fair bit as the game progressed, since I had to discover hundreds of locations and recover literally thousands of collectibles, but I never got so bored that I gave up on it. If nothing else, I was constantly finding new locations and admiring the spectacular views, so things stayed interesting enough to keep me playing. I actually played through it twice, believe it or not - did my first run on Normal, where I got up to the 75% completion, and then replayed it on Hardcore. Toggle Spoiler Got this when it was offered as a PS+ freebie. Took me a little while to get used to it, but I found it to be very good fun. The graphical style is very unique and fun; it's nice to see a game that does something differently, and doesn't try to have the most realistic graphics out there. It's quite amusing as well; there's plenty of humour in there, so it doesn't take itself too seriously. There were an absurd amount of guns in the game to choose from, though I found myself favouring 4 particular weapons for most of the game, including Sledge's Shotgun, which was a one-shot kill on virtually everything except the bosses.
I did my playthrough using the Soldier, and his Scorpio Turret ability came in very handy indeed once it was powered up. I ended up catching the infamous KYII glitch when I went online, but it doesn't negatively affect the earning of trophies, so luckily no real harm was done. I also utilised the Med Kit exploit to finish levelling all the way up to level 50 before I finished the game. The game looked great, and the characters were funny and likeable, and when I heard that Munch's Odyssee was being remastered, I was naturally excited for it, even though I'd never played that particular game as it was an Xbox title back in the day. I fell in love with Oddworld all over again almost from the minute I started playing - Abe was just as fun as ever, and Munch kept things interesting with his different play style. The game is bigger than I anticipated, with 25 levels to get through, even if some of them are very short. I had to do 4 playthroughs of the game, since 2 of the game-completion trophies glitched on me, but I still had fun even on the 4th run.
Graphically, it looks impressive, even if the Dead River level does suffer from extensive texturing problems. Using Abe to possess a Slig and then using that Slig to shoot other Sligs before self-destructing will never get old! Rescuing (or killing) all the Mudokons and Fuzzles took a few attempts, as some of them were very well hidden. Beating the game without using Munch's wheelchair wasn't hard as such, it just required some more thought and strategy.

The basic premise is the same - race a car around various tracks whilst shooting your opponents with firearms, or reaching a checkpoint before the timer expires, or whatever. There are 24 challenges in single-player that you need to get a gold medal in, and while the majority are quite easy, some of them were actually pretty difficult - I lost count of how many times I had to restart the 24th challenge.
Multiplayer is where this game shines, though. The online community is virtually abandoned, but if you have a couple of spare controllers, you should get some friends round and have a blast outracing and outgunning one another. Toggle Spoiler Ah man, what a monster this was. Got my first trophy in November 2009, so it's taken me more than 3 years to finally conquer GTA. I could have done it long ago, but kept putting it off as the AWP and Wanted trophies kept scaring me, and there was always something else to be playing! But, I finally started knuckling down late last year and vowed to finish this off once and for all.
Many people complain about issues like the vehicles' handling and the gunplay, and although I personally had no issues with the combat, the driving mechanics weren't quite as good as they could have been. Hopefully GTA V will resolve the problems that cropped up in this game. The story was darker than those in the PS2 GTA games, which I thought was a good thing - San Andreas just devolved into outright silliness at times, so it was nice to see Rockstar take a darker and grittier approach this time round. The graphics weren't perfect, but GTA's focal point has never been the graphics anyway. However, the cast were quite a good bunch - Niko made a good protagonist, Roman as the well-meaning cousin, Little Jacob was fun with his rasta slang, and you just knew that Dimitri was going to get his in the end!
I started off the Wanted grind by Noosing with a load of people, many of whom moved on without me because they were playing it constantly and I wasn't, and it seemed like I was never going to finish it. Then I recruited my buddy RedBullLordy, helped him with AWP and a few other trophies, and then we took turns with the Happiness Island glitch to rank up. We ended up completing Wanted in under 3 weeks, and we literally couldn't have done it without one another.

Toggle Spoiler I knew this would be great fun before I even played it. The first Lego Batman game was good if not brilliant, and Lego Indy 2 was cracking fun, so a new Batman game co-starring most of DC's other big-name characters couldn't possibly fail, especially when it became the first Lego game to feature voice acting!
And it didn't disappoint - I had a lot of fun playing this and collecting the literally hundreds of items and characters within the game. The script was quite good, with some great comedy worked into it, as you'd expect from a Lego game. I played as most of the characters during Free Roam, trying out their different abilities - Superman and Zod in particular had many powers which were incorporated well within the game; freezing someone with arctic breath then blasting them with heat vision never got old.
The Bonus Level was quite tough to figure out - more so than the one in Indy 2, though that one was better than this one. And being able to fly around Gotham City as Superman whilst having that famous John Williams Superman theme from the movies playing in the background simply has to rank up there as one of videogaming's finest ever moments.![]()

Toggle Spoiler Wow, AC3 sat on my shelf for about 5 months before I finally got around to tackling the story. I decided to make its platinum my 3000th trophy, and I managed to puill it off in the end.
A lot of people seemed to all but hate this game, but I actually enjoyed it. Although Ubisoft have never quite recaptured the magic of AC2, they did still create a nice, rich game in AC3. Connor may not be as interesting a character as Ezio, and I admit to being initially disappointed with the decision to set the game in America, but these things have grown on me. Playing as Haytham was a nice little opener, with an intriguing twist at the end of Sequence 3 (albeit one that's been done before). The towns and assorted environments look spectacular as always, and I usually found myself just wandering around and exploring, as I do with every AC game. I did think there were too many restrictions placed upon the missions in this game - some of them were just plain bullsh!t, and they did detract a little from the freedom that AC tends to offer the player.
Trophy-wise, the hardest one for me by far was Original Gamer - it took me almost a full week to beat the AI at that damn Fanorona game! It just would not follow the moves that appear in some videos, and I couldn't hope to beat it by myself, but eventually it followed a video move for move, and I finally earned the trophy, followed by the plat. Reaching 100% completion took a fair chunk of time, though I started clearing up pretty quickly toward the end.

Toggle Spoiler I played Legend way back in the days of PS2, and thought it was really good - a great return to form after the atrocious Angel Of Darkness. It was too short, admittedly, but was still good fun, and looked great.
Now that it's been remastered, it looks better than ever before. I started playing it whilst taking a break from DC Universe, and soon started remembering the level layouts and everything else. I was only ever able to beat the level 6 boss once before on PS2 - for whatever reason, Lara just would not grapple the levers when told to - but now I can do it every time. Maybe I was just standing too far away before? The time trials also gave me some issues on PS2, but once I cleared the England trial and unlocked the Bulletproof cheat, I used that to beat the Bolivia Redux trial and get the 1-shot kill cheat, and it was easy from there.
I'll get around to Anniversary soon enough.
PLATINUMS I'M WORKING ON
I don't get to spend hours upon hours of every week gaming, so my trophy collection tends to grow somewhat slowly, but I'm happy enough with how it's progressing. I've managed to accumulate more platinums than I thought possible, with some of those being either extremely difficult or extremely time-consuming. I could have had more plats if I substituted those long games for shorter and easier ones, but I like having some 'brutal' plats in there to mix things up a bit.
Now that the almighty GTA IV has been conquered, I'm setting my sights on the DC Universe Online platinum - I've completed 3 of the 6 playthroughs required, and will return to it soon enough to grind out the other 3. No-one on my friends list has this plat, so it should be a nice one to have.
I'm also hoping to score the almighty Twisted Metal plat, although I don't hold out much hope of ever actually getting it - the 4 infamously glitched online trophies seem like a hell of a lot of work!
Big shout-out to Stupot00 for making the banners - cheers buddy!![]()

Updated the list somewhat with some extra details for each plat, and descriptions for all the plats earned in 2010. I'm deciding on new sections for the checklist, and should get the remaining descriptions and stuff finished over the next day or two. I'll add in which games I'm currrently working on to platinum, which games I've yet to start, some significant trophies in my collection, and whatever else I can think of.
Should have my next plat up here within a few days!

Nice work, bro.
I also love the Super Street Fighter II Turbo characters you created as well. They're wicked. I have also been a Sony fanboy since PS1. Can't beat the PS, mate.

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to get the platinum for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell added here within a couple of days, if the last 2 bronze trophies will stop glitching on me and just unlock like they're supposed to. The game is stuck at 97% just now, and though I've fulfilled the criteria for both trophies nearly 3 times over, they still haven't popped. I'm gonna back up my save, then delete the game/save data and start again, and hopefully I'll get them both, and the platinum, this time around...

Just added my 22nd plat, for AFRIKA. I had good fun playing through this game - it was very relaxing, and offered something genuinely different. I wish PS3 had some more niche games like this.
Ok, now that that's done, I'm definitely gonna go back to Splinter Cell and get that platted ASAP. Should have had it done by now, but AFRIKA sidetracked me.

Congrats on Afrika,I'm surprised I never checked your checklist before now, nice work

Thanks guys. AFRIKA was good fun - i enjoyed it.
I've FINALLY landed the Splinter Cell platinum. I eventually gave up on grinding the trophies on my regular save slot, so I backed up my save to a USB stick, deleted my on-system save and uninstalled the game, then reinstalled the game and started again. After playing the first area of the Defence Ministry level 22 times, I finally had both of them, and the platinum!
I'm so relieved to finally have them over and done with. I can hardly believe that even now, companies are still releasing games with unreliable trophies - don't they bother to test the damn things to make sure they work properly?!
Anyway....... time to get back to work on C&C: Red Alert 3. I need to finish the 2-player Skirmish maps, and complete the Rising Sun campaign in Co-Op and on Hard Difficulty. My co-op buddy isn't online too often, unfortunately, so it'll probably take a while yet, but I'm hoping to have it platted by the end of the year. If I hit my goal of 25 platinums by the end of this year, I'll be happy enough. Only 2 to go!

Nice checklist. Good luck with the LBP plat and Dead Nation plat.

Just updated the list a little bit - I've completed the PSN game Comix Zone to 100% and added it to the list, and added a couple of new games to the "yet to start" section; AC Revelations and Uncharted 3 (I actually can't believe I haven't played either of them yet! This is disappointing on my part!
). I'll start them shortly, after I've cleared some of my backlog, as these 2 games are likely to consume my life for the next several months!
I've made some more progress on Dead Nation as well, and am going for all the armour and loot just now, ahead of tackling a co-op Grim playthrough with kidson2004. If all goes to plan, I should be well on my way to platting the game - provided that Morbid doesn't prove to literally be the death of me!

Newest platinum has been added - Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. Thankfully there were no ridiculously glitched bronze trophies this time round - every trophy popped when it was supposed to.

I had to play the game through 3 times to land the plat, but I didn't mind replaying it - the game is good fun and most levels don't take too long to complete; level 3 can be done in under 15 minutes. I think I'll wait a few months before I start work on SC Chaos Theory - I've got other games here that I want to start first, including Uncharted 3 and AC Revelations.
By the way, can anyone else see the Terminator plat icon? Every time I load this page, the icon fails to appear on screen. I'm wondering if anyone else can see it, or if my monitor just doesn't like the image?
Now, one more plat to go till I hit my goal of 25 plats before 2012. There are a few games I could potentially plat by then, namely the following....
C&C: Red Alert 3
Dead Nation (maybe)
Worms 2: Armageddon
Or, I could get started on Uncharted 3, play the hell out of it, and land that plat within the next month. Any suggestions?

Some nice plats you got here! Good to see a high game rating on Enslaved as it seems to be a very underrated game. May have to pick up Afrika as it have a nice looking plat image
If your still looking to do co-op on Dead Nation let me know as ive yet to start co-op, thats if you dont get the help from kidson2004

Okay, it's been a little over 2 months, but I've finally updated this list again with two shiny new platinums - Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. RA3 has been in the works for well over a year now, and I'm very pleased to have this brutal plat under my belt at last!
AC:R is another welcome addition to the list, and I had great fun playing through both these games. Also, I can't stop staring at the RA3 platinum image after all the time and trouble I went to to get it!
I've also gotten the PSN game Hydrophobia Prophecy up to 100% and included it in my 100% PSN games list. It was a fairly good game - not great, but decent enough. One of the trophies, as well as 2 or 3 of the in-game medals, glitched on me, forcing me to play the game nearly 3 times through to unlock them all and attain 100%. The water effects in the game are just incredible - you really have to see them in action!
Well, now that RA3 has been conquered (pun intended!) at last, I think it's time to finally get started on Uncharted 3! I've had it for nearly 3 months now and have yet to start the single-player side of the game! How bad is that?!
Thanks! Yeah, Enslaved is sadly a very underrated, little-known game - it truly deserves a much wider audience. I'm disappointed that the proposed sequel has been cancelled basically even before it began.
I do recommend Afrika if you like your niche games. It's very relaxing, but with no action or even dialogue, it won't be to everyone's tastes.
