Finally got around to updating my latest platinum (#46): Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

I've been out of town the last several days, but I knocked out pretty much all of the collectibles in one night and finished it before I left. One of the few times where I actually rated a game higher because of the multiplayer component, which I really liked in this game - although getting to level 50 was a bit too much.

I plan on getting ACR soon and am really excited about ACIII, but for now it's all about Mass Effect 3.

It's a hard one for me to rate. The historical context, the locations, etc are really cool. The current day stuff is pretty pointless, I really don't like the overarching storyline (I don't want to be any more specific to avoid spoilers) behind it, and sometimes the controls are a little clunky - especially around combat. Overall, though, I like the series.

Well, it sure has been a while since I've updated this list, but I have two good reasons for it.

    1. I've been completely sucked into Mass Effect 3, which I am now three missions from the end of (and then a little bit of clean up for the platinum).
    2. I've been trying in vain to doctor my PS3, whose disc drive has been slowly but surely failing over the last few weeks. I tried cleaning the laser and replacing the laser. Both seemed to work for a day or two, but then it just quit - won't even turn a disc now. So, I got a new 320 GB Uncharted 3 bundle yesterday (already had the game, obviously, but I got almost $30 in trade credit for it towards the new system) and I'm now back in action.

In addition to ME3, I started the BioShock challenge rooms last night. Not sure if I will finish those or do something else before I move on to another big game (probably Skyrim), but I'll mix them in from time to time at least.

Just curious, how old is your old PS3? I'm a little concerned for mine, but I don't think its near going (knocks on wood).

Also, did you back up your previous saves and import them to the new one?

Good luck on the challenge rooms, they are alot of fun and worth of the $10 price tag . Also how old was your old PS3 I am also curious like wandarer because mine is closing in on the 3 year mark.

Snap. I was wondering why it took so long to update, lol! Sucks to hear about your PS3. Good thing you got another one. Mine has still been rocking since I believe June 12th (MGS4 80GB fatty, so almost 4 years ) Glad to hear you're back in the game and hope you're enjoying Mass Effect 3

Finish them! I didn't write that Worlds of Hurt Expert guide for nothing!

My PS3 was less than two years old - it was a CECH-2101 120 GB model. I don't think two years is normal by any stretch, but at the same time I didn't do anything to hasten its demise. It was spotless inside when I cracked it open, so I have no idea why it went out so soon. The 60GB fatty I had before that went strong for almost three years before I traded it for this one, and it was still going strong when I got rid of it.

Finished my first (and only, at least for now) playthrough of Mass Effect 3 last night. I can see why people were bothered by the ending - I didn't love it, but I didn't think it was the worst thing ever, either. Just need to farm about 2,500 kills (going to try the cover tutorial glitch and see how that works) and upgrade a gun to level 10, and I'll have the plat. I have to say, after all of the talk about how much longer this was supposed to be than ME2, it seems about the same to me.

Next up will probably be a combination of some short game (Jak 1, maybe), BioShock DLC and MW3 spec ops, and then at some point I think I'm going to make Skyrim my next "big" game.

Good luck on finishing off ME3 along with the Bioshock DLC. I purchased it a long time ago but have never gotten around to starting it. I've heard some of the trials are quite hard. Also, good luck on Skyrim.

I felt the same way. It didn't seem any longer to me. Of course I do have to do a Insanity play through. I chose not to do Insanity first and finish up the kills and I'll have my plat. I don't plan on waiting as long to do my insanity play through.

A couple of days late in updating, but I finished off Platinum #47 a few nights ago with Mass Effect 3. Overall, I thought it fell just short of the standard set by the second game. Most of the game was better - better combat, the war asset quests were better than the endless mining, and the MP was a nice addition, but the game just didn't have the same feel for me. I didn't like the all-red Normandy as much, and although there were some really great moments in the story, the ending soured it to a certain extent.

For now, I'm back at MW3, trying to finally finish off that plat in time to do the DLC when it comes out, and also working on the BioShock challenge rooms. I've finished the first two rooms completely and am about halfway through my first run at Worlds of Hurt (I should be able to get the three "easy" trophies for that one in one go). Obviously the Expert trophy for that room is going to be a huge pain, but I'll get it.

I've also started Skyrim and I think I'm going to like it, but I'm just not sure I'm ready for a 100+ hour game right now, so it might go on hold for a little bit while I work on trying to clean out some of the quicker games on my backlog list.
