Total Awards: 11This is interesting and I must have missed it the first time around. I've only ever had problems with my PS3 freezing during a few games. Nothing too serious but if this will help it run smoother, then I am not opposed to giving it a shot. Great info for sure.

I'm assuming that this is like Defragmenting a PC, is my assumption correct?

2K emailed me these steps to fix a problem with NBA 2K13 where it froze in My Career mode. They told me to delete the Game Data then do what this says. But it when I was doing this it said some files were corrupt, and I lost every single game save and game data I had, and none of it was backed up.

Total Awards: 9Cover your arse, subscribe to PS+ and upload your Game Saves.
I had a PSN download corrupt on installation a week ago. I attempted to delete the corrupted data, the system hung, then I got the dreaded "Your file system needs to be rebuilt" prompt on reboot. Sure enough, that looped at 25% and I knew I was fucked.
However...I backup all Game Saves religiously to PS+, reformatted the PS3, downloaded my saves and I'm back in the game. For $50 a year, PS+ is a life-saver. I wouldn't run ANY Recovery Menu option without backing up first!

Thanks for this info. I've never tried this before. I have the fatboy PS3 and, from what I read above, it should be fine.
I hope it helps the speed when I play Fallout 3

Thank you for these suggestions. Not being able to properly defragment my large-ish (500GB) drive is a concern, so these tips do help. Much appreciated.

I didn't know this could be done. I've had my PS3 for about a year & a half now and have never done this. Thanks a lot and I'm gonna try this maybe this weekend.

Oh really!? Could it damage something? Thought it was harmless.. but could mess up potentially?
